Jets Prospects

Kyle Connor has 48 point in 27 games an average of 1.7787 points per game .

Dylan Larkin had 47 points in 35 games for the same team last year for an average of 1.343 points per game .

Jack Eichel had 71 points in 40 games in his last year of college for  an average of 1.775 points per game .

I see Connor making the team in the fall and actually signing in March and getting a couple of weeks on the Jets roster at the end of the season.

I am hoping to see Connor on one wing with Wheeler or Ehlers or Armia on the other wing with Scheif or Matthews at center.

Going forward... Connor Scheif Wheeler Armia Ehlers and Matthews/Laine/Puljujärvi look like a pretty solid top 6 for a few years.

Lemieux, Roslovic, Petan, Copp, Lowry, Harkins, De Leo,  Lipon, and Spacek will be fighting for roster spots sooner or later.

We have Comrie and Helle and Phillips for depth in goal and look to be set for some time.

Our D, on the other hand, needs some help on the depth. Besides Morrissey, there isn't much coming up the pike on the left hand side and I fully expect the Jets to take some LHD at this draft or trade for one by this time next year. There is Sami Niku and not much else. The RHD right now is very good but not a great deal coming up the pike. Hopefully Kostalek makes the team in at least a 3rd pairing position and hopefully Glover and/or Poolman and/or Nogier turn out.

  • This situation didn't start this year and won't be resolved this year. The makeup of the jets had to be addressed for the long term when they arrived here from Atlanta. Does anybody not think the Jets

LOL. Seriously? C'mon man. Poolman is a project, that appears to be 3rd D pair money for sure that he signed for but... I highly doubt Myers moves anytime soon...Quit over rating our prospects, Poolman is good but he's at best maybe a 2nd pairing guy in the future but in reality, hopefully an improvement on Postma.

He can also play the Left side so keep that in mind.

Lawless Twitter...

Poolman and Jets agree on a one-year ELC for $1.775 million (salary and bonuses). Contract starts next year. Will be a Group 2 free agent after his one-year ELC expires (RFA with arb rights). AHL salary will be with $70,000.

That seems like a pretty solid ELC salary.  Hopefully he's a gamer.  As goalie said, I'd expect him to pencil in at the 3LHD spot.

If Huddy doesnt screw it up, that could be a solid D corp.

ELC contracts are 925k.  No choice.

Max signing bonus is 10%.

The rest has to be in performance bonuses.

925k max but many are lower valued.

Glad to see Poolman signed.

Yes.  925 is the max.   I believe the minimum is 650 next year

I didn't like the pick but i'm not sure what posting points and plus minus really proves

Just a quick check up on them... both Clague and Johansen will make the big leagues imo.

Plus minus doesn't really mean much at all...  unless its really an outlier like +23

Points means a lot in the lower leagues... if you're not scoring there, you really have zero hope of making the NHL

Thats what I meant, he didnt sign for the minimum.  Ofcourse, he had some leverage.  But hopefully the salary represents the projected talent level.

Replace Toby with anything, even an orange traffic cone, and I will agree with you.

They have the last few games and our D is worse. Strait and Melchiori are traffic cones

Traffic cones that clear the front of the net.

Have you watched these 2 in our D zone? Strait sent back to the Moose today so that should tell you what they think of him. Melchiori is a gongshow... the play dies on his stick every shift. He's awful.

He had more leverage than trouba did this off season

Not defending their puck handling or skating skills at all.  Buff's recent 'mistakes' are because he tries to do everything because he has no faith in Melchiori...

They are plugs... but plugs that outmuscle guys in front of our net.

Jets are still a .500 team with Enstrom or Melchiori as your #4 D.  That's disturbing.

Toby isnt terrible

I'm not a Toby hater... but this season is by far his worst for whatever reason.  He's taking one bad stick penalty a game and getting beaten to the puck and in the corners.

The fact that Melchiori is not a recognizable drop off is not good.

He has never had any chemistry with Buff...  I'd re-sign him at 3 mill for two years as our third pairing after next season

Toby was playing well until leaving the team to deal with a family illness.  He wasnt the same when he got back.  And obviously been hampered by injuries (he had knee surgery today).  The days of him being #1 are over.  But I'd feel good about him as #3/4.

I remember it was a 2nd and 3rd but somehow turned into all this?

Big winner in that trade is Oduya because he got two Cups since then lol
