Up first:  Pittsburgh Penguins, my secondary team to cheer for.

 

I guess their worst start since Sid's rookie year could be because of their lousy defense.  Or bad coaching.  Or Kessel.

 

But in reality its because I took Fleury in my pool every year for 10 years until last year when I was fed up, he has his best year ever and then I took him this year and now he sucks. 

 

But really, whats the deal?  They might be the first to can their coach.

You have to wonder why the Oilers didn't trade Hall to the Canadiens for Subban. At least that would have made sense for the Oilers. A one for one with two of the best players in the NHL. That would have made it far more palatable for Oiler fans.

It wouldn't have for Habs fans though.  Premier d-men are hard to come by so I don't think Bergevin trades PK unless he gets an equivalent defenseman back... Oilers are definitely lacking in that area.

He didnt get an equivalent D man back though.

Five years ago Weber would have been considered one of the top. But not anymore. He's still good but he's getting up there in age. As you get older it gets harder to play a physical game against younger forwards who give back what they get game after game.

Because if Edmonton had anyone like Weber they wouldn't have needed to trade for a defenceman in the first place. Chiarelli got desperate and sold Hall for pennies on the dollar. There are no character issues or salary issues or any of that, simply desperation for a right handed defenceman and paid a premium to gamble on Larsson developing into a guy that might be worth Hall some day. 

He better turn into that guy though cause Taylor Hall is one of the absolute best 5 on 5 point producers in the NHL, and he's done it on a shitty team with a terrible puck moving blue line backing him up. Just gross that there wasn't even a token plus coming back from the Devils. 

The talk is that the signing of Stamkos back to Tampa increases the value of the Plan B guys.  So Okposo, Ladd etc likely getting bigger deals now.  Word is Islanders talking to Ladd today.

Im sure Buffalo is thinking its time to get him out of town.  Two legal issues involving women in a matter of months?  Yikes.

Who knows how Winnipeg fits in, but Kane isn't coming back to Winnipeg.

 

Why on earth would anyone take Kane unless it's as a favour to Buffalo

I'd take him if Buffalo was picking up 80% of his salary.  No wait, I still wouldn't take him.

Kane and girgensons isn't enough for landeskog. Colorado laughs

It's getting pretty obvious in my opinion that Trouba will not be a Jet this season.
