Blue Jays

Anyone else following them as intently as I am right now? They are on fire after the trade deadline moves.

I'm a little concerned that AA left the minor league pitching cupboards a little too bare, especially with the Price trade. Even though they gave up the guys with the highest potential in Hoffman and Castro, I think the return was worth it, since Reyes had regressed so quickly. In getting Price though, AA gave up a couple of guys who would likely have been solid starters in a year or two in exchange for a rental. A very good rental, but a rental none the less. Without the Price move, I'm not sure if the Tulo and Revere moves alone would have provided the morale boost and buzz that we're seeing now that could propel them into the playoffs.

The positive thing is that we have most of our current position players returning next year, which will ensure very good defensive play and offensive continuity, but it will be a challenge to pull together a complete starting rotation and bullpen without being pretty active in free agency. Pitchers currently on the roster who they have no control over include Estrada, Buhrle, Price, Hawkins, and Lowe.

Im really glad the jays are staying classy and beating the ragers with their play. I kinda thought this series had the chance to get real ugly. Its of course still very early, but it doesnt seem like its gonna go that way.

Hope Liriano is okay. Watched that happen to my old man in a fastball game when I was a kid. Still partially deaf in one ear after a rocket comebacker...

that was all kinds of ugly. Seen a bunch of nasty come back injuries in the last idk decade or so. Do hope he is gonna be all right.

So who's the Blue Jays first starter for the Indians series? ;)

ehh the rangers are choke artists in the play offs. And the jays have allready scored a ton of runs. And with sanchez going to the mound next it could well be.

It would bode well for the Jays - get that rotation rested up

Yeah, and keep the bullpen fresh. we need to keep the bull pen innings down to have success in the play offs. Id rather see RA come out of the pen then a few of our guys in there. Imagine trying to hit his knuckler after 7 innings of filthy sanchez?

Liriano out with a concussion, replaced by danny barnes on the roster. Hope hes ok, thats a scary injury from a scary incident.

yep, good play offs soo far this year. Wouldnt have minded knocking the sox out but shap gets his way instead. This should be a real good series.

I thought the same thing LOL, Expos vs Jays ;)

Glad Boston's out, announcers blatantly cheering for them in the 8th and 9th inning.

I know nothing about the Indians season (I honestly assumed the Royals were back on top of the Central this year...) so how do they match up with the Jays?

Looking at the season series, the Indians took 2 of 3 games in Cleveland (all one-run games), and the Jays took 2 of 3 in Toronto, including a 17-1 squeaker.

I think over all we matched up better against the BoSox, but basically,  Cleveland has better pitching and average/good hitting, less power then boston anyways. Our starting rotation should keep their bats at bay tho and I'm predicting jays in 5

Idk, the bosox had the ability to rock our starters and get past the strength of the bullpen in a hurry, leaving us strung out in the pen. I dont think the indians have that potential. Bodes well to keep our starters in games late and use the choice arms out of the pen each game.

Offensively our line up can mash any staff in baseball.

The Indians are very good offensively they have a ton of guys in their line up that can handle the bat. Santana Kipnis Lindor Ramierez Napoli. Then some really good speed with Nayquen Davis. Thrown in Lonnie Chisenhall who was really good against Sox. People in Canada are taking the Indians lightly but they are really good.
