Pav is starting to lose, back to Hutch ...

Just like in years past when it counts, Pav can't make the big save at the critical times in the big games.
I'd go back to Hutch against the Canucks and see if we can start winning again!

You serious? Had no chance on all 3. Hutch plays and we lose too

I don't know, he didn't play that bad I guess and he can't score and we need more of that for sure...

We dominated but lost because of breakdowns and penalties

Great 1st period but lack of shots in second. Almost felt like putting Buff up front.

You can't blame Pavelec for what happened tonight. The team as a whole like Sunday didn't perform in the final 20 minutes when it mattered the most.

Buff gonna be suspended for his vicious cheap shot crosscheck on miller

Team out played the Rangers all game long. Out played Chicago too but just can't capitalize on their chances and they had tons of chances

Jets need a legit sniper. Paging nik ehlers really

There is an argument to be made in starting hutch that goes beyond whether pavs was good or not. Teams sometimes rally around that switch. I'd start pavs again only because now isn't the time for experiments. But I'd have a short leash if the team wasn't playing great in front of him.

Pavs should have saved the game winning goal. He was out of position, as usual.

....What?! Listen the last thing I am is a Pavelec booster or supporter but when it's a partial breakaway as it was when Kreider made Byfuglien look stupid at the blue line, Pavelec played that as well as he could under the circumstances. He stretched out to make the pad save but Kreider went to his back hand and BARELY fit the puck in. To say he was out of position is not remotely correct whatsoever, and to say he should have made the stop considering it was a partial break shows how foolish that comment is. Even folks in peewee or bantam hockey wouldn't say he was out of position. Krieder just made a heck of a play. It's as simple as that. I'd like to say I'm surprised by your comment but for someone who suggests calling up Connor Hellebuyck for the stretch run, someone with ZERO NHL experience (Yes a great prospect no question), or implies this team is better without Dustin Byfugien, sadly I'm not surprised at all.

Pavelec's skate/leg should have been touching the post on that breakaway. He was almost a foot out of position.

Lol at blaming pavelec

Lol at blaming pavelec

Right. I totally forgot. Pavelec's job is to let pucks in the net, not stop them. My bad.

You're just trolling in this thread, right?

Sorry, it's hard to tell sometimes.

Can't say I agree with you. I've been watching a lot of hockey lately between the teams the Jets and the Canucks play and I have to say the Goaltending the Jets have been getting in the last little while has been more stable than not. They've even won a few games because of their G-tending more so than they've lost because of it. So to say Pavs is terrible is a little far far-fetched.

As a matter of fact, you could say Pavelec is a big reason the Jets are still in the hunt for a playoff spot.

And yet this year the stats show he's 18th in save % and 17th in goals against avg.

So is the team playing better in front of him?

Definitely not a Pavelec supporter myself but gbill you clearly do not understand what it means when people say a goalie is out of position. If a goalie bites on a deke on a breakaway, that is not the time to say he was out of position. That is just not the correct use of that term.

Kreider made one hell of a move, BUFF did not have him defended, buff got owned really. It was a nice move and nice goal by Kreider, Blaming Pavelec on that one is just crazy and obviously from someone who has never played hockey, or if so, was a terrible teammate. Sometimes, the other guy just makes a nice move, that's what that goal by Kreider was, he beat Buff to the puck and made a nice move on the goalie, the only move he could really have made to beat him and did it in a split second really, Pav had him but, Kreider made a great move. Why always looking to blame Pavelec? Why can't it just be the ranger player made a nice move and scored?

In what universe did Byfuglien have one side defended???  He was out of the play.  Being able to tap a guy with the end of your stick from 3 feet behind doesn't mean one side is defended.

Thing is on the game winner, it wasn't a breakaway. Byfuglien had him defended coming from one side. Pavelec didn't protect the area of the front side of the net that he needed to.

I don't usually weigh in on these debates, but Buff clearly did not have him defended.

Yeah Buff got pretty beat on that one, Buff had a brutal game all around really, lazy buff is back again.  Blaming Pavelec is crazy, not a huge Pav fan, well really, i'm a fan of whoever they start but... not the biggest PAV supporter but he's been pretty good this season all things considered, his save percentage and goals against suggest that he has been pretty good, he's been better than league average really. Blaming Pav on that one is just not true at all.. Even just blaming Buff isn't true either, it was the entire line there...

Wheeler went for an early change cuz he thought they were just gonna cycle the puck, left the entire right side open for the stretch pass, Scheif took a spill behind the net, Stafford was nowhere to be seen, Pardy and Buff both got beat by Kreider, he was in behind them both, That shouldn't happen with 3 minutes left, really the last 3 or so minutes, From the Kreider goal on, to Buff taking a penalty with 40 seconds left was just a really brutal sequence of events, mainly for buff but more so for the entire team.

It's pretty bad when you are expecting guys like Buff to step up, Ladd even, Frolik let's say, I'll give Scheif a pass, he obviously  was in some pain the whole game from blocking that shot.. but these games are where you expect your big guys to step up and take it over... Who scored for us tho? Slater and Stempniak, The bottom 6 guys, really the 3rd and 4th lines.. Though Wheeler and Little played well for the most part and like i said, scheif was hurt so it obviously played a role for him but where was Buff? Ladd? Frolik? Stafford? nowhere to be found, instead of stepping up, they didn't do much at all, well buff did but... what buff did was hurt the team quite a bit with his stupid plays.

Buff has gone back to the floating buff, it's too bad cuz this is the time of year you expect these guys to step up, You expect your core to step up and like i said, little and wheeler had strong games but where was the rest? Invisible really.
