The Wild Card race aka hockey's Final Four

This topic is for teams in the Wild Card race.

L.A.: We can write off L.A. as being a concern. After hibernating for most of the season the Cup champs have woken up and have won 8 in a row. No surprise. When you've won multiple cups recently you can take 50 games off and turn on the power when you need to.

4 teams - 2 spots...

Calgary: Kings play lately has knocked them down into the Wild Card race but they have a March schedule that is the best of all the teams included in this post. 15 games(7 home) with 10 against teams below them currently in the standings.

Minnesota: Pulled off the trade/gift of the year by getting Dubnyk. 14 games(8 home) in March and 6 against teams below them currently in the standings.

Winnipeg: 14 games(8 at home) and 5 against teams currently below us in the standings.

San Jose: Has a brutal March schedule. Of their 13 games they only play 3 teams below them currently in the standings. On the plus side, the least amount of games.

And the rest...

DAL/COL: Can not find the post from last fall but I called DAL/COL as missing the playoffs this year and that's holding up. Really seeing nothing changing in that department plus I just can't be wrong in my predictions :)

Conclusion...

Advantage Calgary/Minnesota

Or we could just win again and say to hell with them both

    sweep the leg

It would be nice to win tomorrow and end it there. Let Pavelec sit the final game of the season.

  • I'm gonna say it, but Chicago is a team that i could see struggling down the stretch too, They are without Patrick Kane now and their D leaves lots to  be desired, Jets aren't far back of them actuall

somebody predicted that the wild are done. sweep leg I think.

hope they were right. They didn't look very good against Detroit.

I dont see a lot of chatter for Dubnyk for Hart Trophy but to me, if you go by the letter of the award which is Most Valuable to his Team and not Most Outstanding which many people treat it as, shouldnt he get consideration?  His record since the trade is remarkable and the Wild since them have been astounding.

Wild also got healthy tho. They are a good team when healthy

The Flames you mean?

The Jets?

It would not surprise me for the Jets to lose every remaining game.  Or lose the next three, get eliminated and then win against Calgary.  Just wouldnt surprise me at all.

Then trade everyone in the offseason?

Nah.  They are close enough that, with injuries a consideration, the management will consider the team moving in the right direction.  Im sure they will tender offers to Stafford, Frolik, Stemp.  Their major decision making is Ladd and Buff and Im not sure if anything short of spectacular Playoff performances change the direction they already have set out.

I would be surprised if they lost these remaining games. After all the crap this year and it comes to these last games and loose them all?

Id be a bit shocked if we dont see them fight n claw for everything. If at the end they miss out... well they miss out.

Yes they have tuff games but i see no reason they cant win. IMO i havent seen them have any quit in them.

Hasn't played enough games to be a contender for the Hart imo.

Winners and losers for April 6

Vanc +2 = 97 pts

Wild +0 = 96

Jets +2 = 94

L.A. +1 = 93

Need miracles from Arizona and Edmonton tomorrow

Surprised Vancouver won. Ofcourse it had to be a three point game.

VANCOUVER winning is irrelevant and a win for the jets. Be better if they beat LA in regulation but 1 point is better than 2 for sure

94 points. 93 points. 2 and 0 the next 2 games gets us in if Calgary or LA go 0-2 or 1-1 really.

98 points. 94 points even 95 points. Last game irrelevant and if I'm not mistaken LA and Calgary play each other so... unless that game goes to OT. One team will finish 1-1 over their next 2 games

Wild clinch.

Edmonton leading LA

Need miracles from Arizona and Edmonton tomorrow

See. Nothing to it folks.

Kings just scored from centre ice... brutal.

Winner and losers for April 7th

Minnesota +2 = 98 pts (claim Wild card spot) Quack!

Winnipeg +2 = 96

Calgary +2 = 95

L.A. +0 = 93

One more win or Kings loss and we're in.

Minnesota +2 = 98 pts (claim 1st Wild card spot) Quack!

I thought they've clinched a playoff spot but not the 1st wild card spot. Wild have a couple tough games to close the season (Nashville and St. Louis) - they lose out and we win out, we have more points.

The wild have not claimed the first wildcard spot. They just clinched a playoff birth. Jets can still pass the wild

Go flames vs kings

Hockey gods were not on LA's side tonight
