Second season of Orange is the New Black launched today.

 

Anyone else into this?

 

I have to admit to being a bit of a TV/movie-phile.  I generally buy Blu-Rays when there's a movie I want to see rather than just watching it on PPV or In-demand (I like to collect).

 

Premium TV has really been leading a creative resurgence in recent years, probably dating back to The Sopranos.  Its nice that Netflix has become a legitimate competitor for HBO (which puts out some really great shows like Sopranos, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood etc).

 

House of Cards was tremendous.

 

While cable channels like AMC are getting in on the act, I annoys me a bit.  The Walking Dead would be so much better on Netflix or HBO where they could truly appeal to adults (HBO passed on The Walking Dead when Thomas Jane was attached).

 

As for Orange, it took me a few episodes to get into last season but Im looking forward to banging out a few episodes tonight.

 

As an aside, for you Trekies, it was recently the 20th anniversary of the finale of TNG, one of the best Series' Finales in TV history.

Yeah...I'm just going to back away and leave you guys to your weird Full House fantasies.

The movie was grade A garbage, but is there hope for this franchise as a tv series? apparently a mini series it coming soon

          

 

the girlfriend wanted to watch Fuller House this weekend, so we sat down and are about 6 eps in, I think. That first one is some of the worst writing I have ever witnessed in TV or Film. Just embarrassingly bad, as they try to shoehorn the "Where Are They Now?" stuff in...God-awful. 

The upside of course is that Candice Cameron and Jodi Sweetin (my childhood crush...sigh) are outstandingly hot. And things DO get better after awhile. The first ep is by far the worst, and while it never really climbs above Family Channel tripe, it's at least watchable after that first episode.

The best review I read started with "Fuller House is basically a porn parody, without the porn"....ha ha.

Sweetin was your childhood crush?  She was awfully young in Full House, unless she was in something after... ;-)

Fwiw, she and I are the same age, I believe.....

She was born in 82.  But Im just razzing you.  I always liked Kimmy's quirky personality myself (and we're the same age).  I dated a girl who looked a lot like her actually (and was named Kimmy).  In my childhood the big crush was Alyssa Milano and then Christina Applegate.

Well she is engaged as of January.  But she has three ex husbands.  So give it some time....

Lol u guys seem very much more in tune with whats shes up to then me.  I may bow out of this race.  Kids dont bother me tho, at this point in life almost everyone I know or meet has a kid or 2, or 4. However if steph being a DJ is an extention of her real life activities, then big pass for me. Ive dated raver chicks n chicks into that kinda music. No thanks

I just googled her to find out what she's up to.  She had a rough time.  She's a recovering addict.  She will be on Dancing With The Stars though, so that should be fun.

The 3/4 adult actors had stuff to fall back on. Cameron married an NHL guy. The babies became fashionistas. There had to be a fail some where.

For sure.  Glad she recovered.  She looks fantastic and healthy.  Cameron was very religious.  She made some controversial remarks about obeying her husband and stuff like that.  Her brother was a zealot though.  He got an actress fired from Growing Pains because she had previously posed for Playboy.  I believe he's been very outspoken about gays too.

You guys are lost.  Candace Cameron is the only one worth having on that show.  She's the hottest and closest to my age.

And Kimmy is a freak...A FREAK I TELLS YA!  Although I'll give her this, she's someone I wouldn't mind as a close friend.

On a non pervy note, now that shannara chronicles is done season 1, I need a spot filler till GoT starts soon, has anyone watched black sails? I watched episode 1 and it was alright, but worth watching 3 seasons... I dunno.  I gavs up on dexter after 4 episodes

Is Black Sails the one with all the sex and nudity?

House of Cards is great.   I recommend that.

Well there was its share of sex scenes in ep 1, nudity was quick camera brush overs, so ur not like glued to seeing much for long, but it was a decent watch all in all, ill give it another episode or 2 before I go any further with it tho, if I lose interest ill give house of cards a shot. Also been seeing alot of ppl recommend the 100, anyone seen that?

That's a show I wish was on HBO or pretty much any PG friendly station... so much wasted potential!  I still enjoy it though.

How bout ShadowHunters. Some hot chicks in that show. On Netflix in Canada but I believe FreeForm in USA.

i was seeing a few posts on FB, but nothing concrete about a possible that 70's show reunion.  The show debuted in august of 1998 so it's 20 year anniversary is approaching.  of the posts i saw there was quite a bit of ppl in favor of this. Is it too late to do a reunion? what decade would it be in?  i remember that 80's show being a huge flop, even tho the cast of that 70's show had nothing to do with it.
