May 21, 201411 yr I am interesting to see what the reaction would be if there is a strike vote and a outside chance that replacement players are used?
May 21, 201411 yr There are special immigration rules for professional sports. They don't need to go thru the same hoops that a welder or accountant would.
May 21, 201411 yr I don't see it happening as there would not be enough time to field a team. Training camp and preseason are too short as it is, never mind teach a whole new team the Canadian rules. I would just become an even bigger Bison and Rifle fan. All these friggin professional sports labour disagreements really piss me off. A strike will ultimately become a lose/lose/lose situation. Kinda reminds me of my divorce. In the end the kids (or fans) feel it the most. Us fans will pay with higher ticket and canteen prices.
May 21, 201411 yr Nobody will benefit from a strike/lockout. The fans get po'd, management loses at the gate and the players never recover lost wages. I hope we can get both sides together and hammer out a deal that will be acceptable to both sides. The alternative is not pretty and the league as a whole will suffer. Saner heads must prevail. As far as replacement players go. That will never end well.
May 21, 201411 yr And are we sure all coaching staffs in the CFL would coach replacement players? It's not really like they are management in a regular business.
May 21, 201411 yr I would not watch, to go further I would never go to or watch another CFL game ever again if they waived the NI rule just to try and stick it to our players.
May 21, 201411 yr They brought up a good point on TSN 1290 this morning. They don't believe the Canadian labor laws would allow them to bring Americans in to fill Canadian jobs. So to have replacement players they would all have to be Canadian. I'm not sure if this is true or not just repeating what they said this morning. I don't believe that this is correct. The NBA operates in Canada with no Canadian content requirement, as does MLB, and the NHL.
May 21, 201411 yr The labour laws are Provincial, the ones with anti scab legislation would not allow replacement players.
May 21, 201411 yr Ridiculous. Replacement players would pretty much sink the league... definitely wouldn't 'save' any TV deal.
May 22, 201411 yr I agree with the people saying the drop in talent wouldn't be that bad if they waived the ni rule.
May 22, 201411 yr Bigger question: Would we still have to drink Budweiser or could we also have a replacement beer?
May 22, 201411 yr Bigger question: Would we still have to drink Budweiser or could we also have a replacement beer? Busch Light.
May 22, 201411 yr If we need to keep the NI ratio for replacement players no prob. Just bring back the likes of Brock Ralph and Troy Westwood.
May 22, 201411 yr Bigger question: Would we still have to drink Budweiser or could we also have a replacement beer? Busch Light. Can we have a NI beer ratio? Please?
May 22, 201411 yr Replacement players... Would that mean we would be free to sign Joey Elliott, Justin Goltz and Chase Clement?
May 22, 201411 yr Replacement players... Would that mean we would be free to sign Joey Elliott, Justin Goltz and Chase Clement? Don't forget about Boltus! He'll be our starting QB.
May 22, 201411 yr Replacement players... Would that mean we would be free to sign Joey Elliott, Justin Goltz and Chase Clement? Don't forget about Boltus! He'll be our starting QB. I suspect that Desjardins would out manoeuvre us for Mr. Boltus.

I suspect that Desjardins would out manoeuvre us for Mr. Boltus. True. He'd probably offer Boltus $450k per season plus bonuses.
