The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced the following six players have been released from their roster:

• Non-import Punter Brett Cameron
• Import Linebacker Chad Faulcon
• Import Defensive Lineman Marcus Hyde
• Non-Import Punter Tim Hutchison
• Import Defensive Back Sam Pope
• Non-Import Defensive Back Jawann Westerman

The Blue Bombers return to the practice field this morning from 10:15am-12:45pm as they prepare for their second preseason game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Thursday, June 20^th.

 

I'm shocked that Desia Dunn is not on this list. Same with McCree, but maybe the familiarity with Crowton gives him a longer leash.

 

The only reason I can still see Dunn being around is that they need a DB to beat up on in practice to boost confidence.

They may see some things in Dunn that they'll try to correct in the next week perhaps.  Dunn plays special teams too and was the one that laid out the first block that sprung Massey on the returned missed field goal. Maybe that saved him for now.

Cameron should be invited to be on the PR, imo.

The thing is Dunn has looked great in practice.  Probably want to get a look at him in a second game to see if he bounces back.

Sad to see The Legacy get cut, but hopefully a PR spot is in his future...

He'd be more likely to be offered a PR spot IF he were amongst the last group of cuts .. didn't do enough to separate himself from Pavlopoulos let alone unseat an incumbent.

Yeah, if Billy Alphabet is better then he should get the PR spot.  And he is. 

Bummer about Cameron, I really would have liked to see him make the cut. Hamilton thought he was worth a look before we signed him, so he may yet show up on someone else's PR, if not ours.

Billy P is also a non-counter.  We can keep him on the PR and not have him take up a spot since he's a 2013 pick.

Cameron is not one of the top 2 punters.  No sense keeping him on the PR.  Sucks to say.

Not that there was any question of it but Burke also named Renaud as the team's punter.

That was a weird looking boot but he did get it through.  He was here to push Renaud though and couldn't beat him out.

If Cameron pushed Renaud to be better, then Cameron's left a positive impact on this team and thanks to him for that.  

 

But no one should be on this team just because they have the right last name.  The Blue Bombers have enough problems without adding a Kevin Feterik dynamic.

Why? Because his last name is Cameron? Man, we've got to build a winner not be full of sentimentality.

If we do end up holding onto Pavlopoulos as well, I really hope that they groom him to be the starter for all three kicking positions.

 

Sad to hear that Cameron was cut, but that doesn't mean his career is over, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Only real surpise out of all of this, is how in the world in Dunn still on the roster ?

Did anyone else think David James might have been cut?  He was beat quite a bit out there.

Remember you still need legs and practice bodies to make it thru the preseason , sadly but can't run the starters into the ground.

Sometimes that's a case of covering up for other players' miscues...bloody hard to tell in a pre-season game.
