yeah Masoli looked capable and not like he needed a walker....

Massoli's only half the qb he used to be. He'll never be a threat as a qb anymore. To me, signing an old guy like that with obvious age & old injury issues just because he's a "veteran" is a waste of money. Could he win the Lions four games if Rourke was out for the season? I highly doubt it. It's better to try to develop a second qb who has potential. Not to say that there's qbs hanging from trees ready to be picked with expanded NFL & now UFL rosters but they're out there. It's still up to the Lions to find one. That's on Ringmaiden & his scouting dept if they can't.

I'd say right now Masoli is still a better option then guys like Dolegala or Dom Davis.   Not many veteran QB's that a team can sign.

Hopefully Hogan and Jackson sit down with Zach and come up with a solid set of plays that fit his current abilities.

You think this would just be happening now?

Based on how he played Saturday, I think Zach needs this talk.

I'm hoping that he was rusty and out of rhythm due to the messed-up start to the year. He certainly looked better in pre-season.

I mean, with Jackson, yeah, it would just be happening. Overall, I think they are getting to a point where they would have to say you can't do this stuff anymore, Zach. We have to re-fit the system with stuff you can do.

But I don't think they would be willing to accept that at this point.

Keep in mind, 2023 was really the only hot start to the year for Zach as a blue bomber. These are his first game stats as a bomber.

2021. 18/28 217 2 tds, 292 2 tds, 204 2tds 1int. 243 0/0. 245 1/1.

2023. 354 3tds. 293 2 tds. 191 1int. 177 2tds 1int.

2024. 209 1int. 285 1int. 247. 55 1int.

So this year's 179 2 and 2 is kind of on brand for him as a start.  We really can't wait a month for him to get going though.

No but he needed a spotter to find the open receivers and someone else to throw the ball to wide open deep receivers. He missed those at least once in each game & they coulda been game changing players.

Hopefully Jackson can fulfill that role, I believe he's the one that told Zach that Strev was playing the last 2 minutes of the game, not sure Hogan would suggest that.  Either way, alternative thinking is helpful.

Same, and I do think it will be a good fit. From all accounts, Jackson and Zach have always had that mentor-mentee relationship. He's an excellent coach, and football mind, with them going so far back Im sure Zach will get the most out of it. Especially if he wants to keep playing past this year.

He's going to be a great resource for Wilson and Strevy to.

Masoli at least fulfills the role of mentor which Rourke could benefit from, Buck probably doesn't have time for that and they didn't hire a QB coach.

I'm a big believer that Masoli is the next blue chip QB coach / OC prospect in the CFL.
