2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season

From 3DN about TSN broadcasts this year....

"The CFL on TSN is taking a renewed approach to its broadcasts for 2025.

The network’s panel will travel to all nine stadiums over the course of the upcoming season, sources told 3DownNation, including visits to Regina and Montreal in Week 1. Kate Beirness is returning to host the panel with Henoc Muamba and Davis Sanchez filling the main roles alongside her.

Paul LaPolice will also frequently appear on the panel, though he will also perform colour commentary for one game per week. As previously reported, longtime panelist and Hall of Fame quarterback Matt Dunigan is no longer with the network.

As for Milt Stegall, who has been with the network since 2009, there is no timeline for his return after the death of his eldest son, Chase. The 20-year-old died unexpectedly at DePaul University on Monday where he was a member of the school’s soccer team.

“Our CFL on TSN family is absolutely devastated over Chase’s passing. If you know Milt, you know that his family is everything to him, and we cannot imagine the pain he is going through right now,” said producer Chris Edwards in a statement to 3DownNation. “Milt is our brother and we are going to give him our love and support him in any way we can, and in whatever way he needs.”

During a broadcast teeing up the 2025 season on Tuesday, TSN dedicated its coverage this year to Chase’s memory.

TSN plans to flesh out the panel by rotating in active players, though it doesn’t appear as though this will happen every week. Players will generally make panel appearances during bye weeks, though there may also be opportunities for in-studio appearances when players are in town to play the Argonauts or Tiger-Cats.

Friday Night Football, a longtime network staple, will have a brand new presentation featuring fresh animations, graphics, and music. One source called the scope of the production “bigger.”

The play-by-play personnel at the network has remained unchanged for 2025, featuring Rod Smith, Dustin Nielson, Marshall Ferguson, and occasionally Farhan Lalji. Colour commentary will be performed by Glen Suitor, Duane Forde, and LaPolice."

Honestly the main selling point of the CFL are the timing rules of the final 3 minutes.  And arguably the most boring part of any NFL game when a team with a one score lead can just bleed the clock un

Hopefully Laroux has a better game this week in his place. He was shakey, and got roughed up a couple times.

Leroux should be retained on the PR, Benson is inches away from the end of his career.  Give him a final shot at a GC at home, then a thank-you card for service provided.

100%. If not, we need to be grooming an in house guy to do it more aggressively. I think it was Cadwallader who took over for him in first game, he was solid, I'd continue with that. Maybe even teach a guy like MCI to do it.

Gauthier stepped in, Novak is putting in time as a long-snapper as well.

here's a scary thought/observation...I have seen Kolo practicing it...eeeeeeee

Not sure if this has been mentioned but it looks like Trevor Harris is already dinged. Missed back to back practices and Mace now confirming concussion concerns as the cause (sorry for the alliteration...)

Ahh that’s right good call.

really, would make sense to train 2nd globals to do it as well.

Yeah saw that. So many QBs are dinged already.

And Mace is also saying he's fine just getting him better but don't know about that. Crap, don't like to see this.

You’re never just fine shortly after a concussion. And even if you don’t feel wonky, you are at serious risk. Diagnosed concussion should be an automatic week off.
Don’t want to see his career end on a concussion. Not if it’s preventable.

Yup. At the EOD health #1.

Truth.

Think Mace is a but dense...Prety sure it happened on that play where he got drilled and cranked his punchable head hard on the ground as it snapped back from the impact...and they let him continue to play...me and my buddy saw that right away

he should have been pulled from that last game...but wasnt..the Rider training staff is pretty inept for most part anyway so not shocking

I already picked against them anyway...so I good! lol

If Harris plays having your 3 most visible players (Milligan, Ouellette and Harris) get concussions and play the next week almost seems to be verging on Coaching/Training Staff malpractice.

The reality is players that get knocked out cold in the CFL often play again the very next week, pretty sure that's not enough time for proper recovery, but the league, the players and the CFLPA play along as if it is.

Unfortunately as the science evolves, it seems in more and more cases recovery may not be an option, more of how to cope as best you can.

Ask Matt Dunnigan.

Another semi interesting note via 3DN...

Remember Marwan Hage, kids? Well, he's back!  ...As a minority owner of the TiCats...

Am I remembering this wrong or was he one of the original suitors when the team was up for sale?

Doubtful.  Caretaker Bob has owned the team since 2003 and Hage was still in university at that point.

Maybe I am thinking of Ottawa and a different player...

Edit: It was Lapointe and Montreal!

That may not be the worst thing. Not many teams will roll out their starting C as LS. Maybe it's the plan coming down the road. Dare to dream.

For sure....I just know that when I played and the HC came and asked you if you would consider learning LSing that it was never a good sign. lol

In this day and age, knowing what we know about concussions in football, I would put a mandatory 10 day evaluation period if I were the commish. It would suck, but player safety has to be paramount. Especially for guys with concussion histories. At any rate, we all thought Harris was fragile, and we were all right.

In Harris' defense... that was kind of a greasy play. Tensions were high after the Duncan-Busby chop block that took out George with a gnarly knee injury (which for some reason is only a 10 yard penalty) and you would be hard pressed to convince me that the late hit on Harris wasn't retaliatory on the very next play
