Borderline unwatchable is way too far. I don't love Nielson and Smith is a pro but is well past his due date. I think DT should be the next one called up to the bigs, and likely replace Smith. The analysts are varying levels, but Matty and Lapo are very good, Forde is solid and Suitor...... Ehhhhhhhhh..... It's all well more than serviceable and far from borderline unwatchable. Also, Gord Miller was a fantastic PBP and I wish he was still on the CFL beat. For my money, I like him better on football than hockey.

Smith is only good behind the desk, he has the delivery of a male Cassie Campbell. Hate him as a PBP guy. I never thought I’d dislike a voice more than Rod Black. Nielson should be doing pro wrestling. For my money Marshall Ferguson is the best PBP guy on TV currently but it’s a very low bar. Lapo should be the #1 colour guy, he’s great at it. Duane Forde is fine. Suitor’s an idiot. DT is fantastic and I selfishly wouldn’t want to lose him but he’d immediately be TSN’s best play-by-play announcer.

I don't know Derek at all (we have several mutual friends in the industry) but he is meant to be a national broadcaster for the CFL. He will be the best CFL national PBP in a very long time.... I say that as a broadcaster and a fan of broadcasting.
