I'd rather see him in more game action, but that would mean losing games. I don't want to get rid of him, but I also don't think he ends up being an impact qb. Still seems all tools no intangibles. 

I would keep an older qb on the roster because even older and injured they both provide more value.

I think I was duped by a couple of cut projection lists, actually, my bad. 

I wouldnt be surprised to see Elgersma stick over Clifford as QB3. He outplayed him by a large margin in preseason. Four years younger and has higher upside.

At this point I could see Elgersma easily getting but on the Packers PR.

Clifford is also on his 3rd year with the Packers but hasn't really progressed.  He's gone from second string to PR to being outplayed by a raw rookie so yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they try to develop Elgersma either.

I think Elgersma also gets helped a bit by the International Player Pathway... because he is a Canadian out of USports I think that the Packers can get an exemption to keep him on the PR where he doesn't take up a Practice Roster slot.

He is not eligible for the NFL International Player Pathway. Must be outside US/Canada passport. Doesn't matter where you played college, just passport designation.

Weirdly enough in the Wiki entry to the IPP it states that "Some of these criteria have either changed over time or there is some discretion applied during the selection process, as not all the athletes that have come through the program in the intervening years meet all of the following criteria." so maybe there have been some changes or maybe those blogs are just misinformed.

Unless it was just changed, the IPP does not apply to Canadians. It only applies to kids born outside of North America. If it was included, we would be seeing a lot more first through 4th round pick types sitting in the NFL for a year. Seriously, it would completely decimate our draft. 

I beleive players have to be signed to the IPP in the first place as well, I don't think they can be recerftified to IPP after signing. 

I still hope He sticks for a year on the PR down south. And I think his chances should be pretty good with one team or another. Not only does he have the raw upside, but he's managed to translate that to gameplay in the pre-season. That's a big deal especially for a high upside raw talent guy.

By rule no players of American or Canadian citizenship qualify. Your blogger is incorrect.

Canadians don't count, this was one of the good things that Randy Ambrosie got the NFL to do to help the CFL. They originally were looking at including us. I knew this because there was a short blurp on TSN about it at the time. I don't think anyone in the media realized just how big a win that was for our league because it was a buried story and it deserved much more headlines.

I'm thinking the CFL would have had to reduce NAT starting roster spots. 32 extra spots for NAT players in the NFL would be a disaster for us. We would have likely lost 8-10 more of our best NATs a year.

Very likely, but the talent level overall would've dipped and made the game much harder to watch, especially for casual fans. Like the late 90s when the gap between imps and nis was gigantic. 

We would've been hit hard league-wide at OL. I think most teams would've had to start 3-4 imports. We had a lot of good ni ol in that time who likely would've been the prime targets.

No doubt. I think we would have had to cut our NAT starter numbers in half and probably trim overall roster numbers to keep our game from scrubs being played.

Every team would then start a Jake Thomas. Not just us. 

So just Wilson confirmed currently. Any other bombers related or maybe cfl free agent related cuts? Manu? Elgersma? Any non bombers cfl free agents cuts we could use?

Manu isn't going anywhere.  The Lions are happy with his progress, even if he's still a project for them.  

Packers are announcing their cuts tomorrow apparently so we'll find out soon enough but I don't expect Elgersma to be released.

yup....and with Manu he has improved, but still 4th on depth chart...next yr is the yr for him to show he has earned a spot, as they will only put so much time into it...if 3 yrs in he not on the 53...they will likley move on

he has, kid is soaking it up down there. he’s doing all the right things and working full time with the right people. 

 the nfl will pass him by if he doesn’t crack  an ar this year or gets hurt, it’s all gonna end real fast. tbh i think he deserves a shot on the ar of an nfl this year. I don’t think the lions are willing to take the plunge which is silly. they say they do but he’s camped on the back end of the depth chart. Which happens a lot with high upside prospects.

yeah he night and day from what he was when got there...but the clock is ticking on guy sadly...bonus for us in long run but this will be his PR yr and if he doesnt crack it next...I bet they release him, and he may play the PR dance a yr
