How many threads do you want?

The request was made today to have a thread for the upcoming game on Thursday. I replied I didn't want to get yelled at for doing so. It is always the same 4 or 5 guys that want to get on my case ... they are abrasive and ornery just because they can  be ... they think it is funny to be mean... I have a thick skin so I don't care about their opinion but I do treasure this site and its overall goals

Some just want two or three threads so they can just follow a couple of narratives without having to go to the effort of clicking other threads

Others like to create very specific discussions about what they like to examine in detail. "Is Streveler our next James Franklin" is an example ...

Some threads bomb getting a disinterested response and others takeoff like wildfire picking up half a dozen pages in no time: cutdown day  and game day threads are examples.

So what do you want, what are your personal preferences?

1] Just two or three threads or a tad more if there is something extraordinary or

2] Do you want to see the freedom and creativity in  a lot of threads.

3] Or maybe you want a modest approach of somewhere in between.

Don't be shy - say what you love.

Speak up for the silent majority that read but don't post..

Do you want a pre-game thread (as one asked) for? Do you want a stand alone game day thread ro go with the chat room?

And for the two of you who asked for a thread about a thread, you have what you want!!!

  • I actually like more threads as opposed to less, what irks me is the people who create a thread for every mundane thought that pops into their head.

  • okay, I've complained about thread proliferation, and I was probably a little irritable about it, and I regret that.  This site is my primary source for Bomber news and analysis, so I like to rea

Threads take care of themselves. If they are good they carry on.  If they are outdated or not relevant, they die a quick death.  Problem I see alot is the thread gets derailed into a discussion about something else, staying on topic is hard for some people.

I think that the number of active threads is important because if....    LOOK AT THE SQUIRREL!

That's just it. The site wants active discussion.  They will stay active as long as people want to keep talking about it

I definitely hate the existing system. Often I'll see news and want to see discussion about it. There's no way I'm wading through 100 pages of discussions to find the discussion on that news. Often the conversation will have moved on by then and there's no way to actually discuss it.

I've pretty much stopped posting here because of it.

little tall isnt he

I also agree, this used to be my primary site for bomber news and information. Including interesting blog like posts by people like do or die, big blue, and great insight from others like Mike. I also always enjoyed Noellers and 17to85 whit and Tobe honest found Nasty Nate to be entertaining.

Now we have maybe three threads and I just don't have the interest of going through the long threads or as others have said missed out on the conversation. A discussion forum should be setup in a way to promote discussion, however, we have really tried to limit the number of discussions on this board.

To be honest the off season thread has merit, so does the in season moves, etc. But why limit discussions to only those threads, I want to know how practice is going, I want the insight from those who know about DB play to rate our DBs.

Hell, I even like reading about moves of other teams that might affect us, is edmonton starting a bunch of backups? How are their replacements, what matchups will be interesting? All of that is interesting and worth discussing to me.

Each deserves it's own thread to easily carry on the conversation for hours or days.

Maybe we need a thread about whether we need a thread about needing a lot of threads.
