I would much rather have Bailey then Darvin (at this point in their careers). But I think everyone still needs to wrap their heads around the fact that positions need to be filled in training camp by guys on rookie contracts. We have retained our core, made a splash signing. Now it's the scouts' turn.

I think this is one of the things Mike is talking about. Bighill is the highest paid American LB in the league and is not what he once was. Jefferson isn't the highest paid anymore, but he sure was when we first signed him and is still right up there in terms of salaries. Why this false narrative around certain guys signing here for "way less"? It's not always the case - this is still their job and they have to maximize their salary potential no matter where they play.

He was apparently getting interest from Calgary, but it's apparent he's not getting the offers/opportunity that he might have expected (which surprises me, tbh). Unless his agent is actually talking with other leagues and that's what's holding up the process.

I would be on his side, the salaries have inexplicably exploded and he’s getting less than half of what he’d make on the open market…but they offered him a raise and he’s still being a diva. EDIT: it has occurred to me that BC probably wanted to add years to his contract in exchange for a raise - which would also be understandable that Ryhmes would not be interested in that.
