Bombers release Chris Matthews
blueingreenland replied to trueBlue83's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I wouldn't be surprised if he signs with Calgary again...and lights it up against us again. -
Yeah, it goes back even further than that. I was so confident the year the Riders started their 3RD STRING QB Rocky Butler who was probably a worse passer than Streveler...and we get beat. We also lost in 1990, 1988, and 1984, years we won the Grey Cup.
-
That's just stupid! Sorry, I know practice breaks are planned ahead of time, but really! The new RB needs time with Streveler and what? they practice Wednesday and Thursday? Maybe Friday or is that a walk-thru day? Travel Saturday I assume..
-
Any word from practice on who is getting the majority of reps with the 1st team offense - Augustine or Santiago? Is Santiago even practicing with the 1st team? I can't find anything from Irving or Bauming...
-
Anyone know what the attendance was for the game vs. what the park holds?
-
Yes even though Streveler is not a top rated passer, I think the Riders might underestimate his running. The Esks knew he was going to run and they still couldn't stop him.

Ah Labour Day! living in SK is bad enough for a Bomber fan like me the rest of the year, but this weekend ( and next) it gets amped up to a whole new level. The media around here (Regina, Saskatoon) have been relentless in minimizing the Bombers accomplishments and telling us how great the Riders are (5 game win streak). I've heard numerous times that Streveler is no threat and that the Riders will sweep the series. Please Bombers, please, please win. I don't care if it's 3-2. Just win.

Yes, a crossover spot is all but a sure thing again.

I tend to agree with this comment. I've always thought the best places for expansion would be Quebec City or Saskatoon. I hope it works in Atlantic Canada...but I have my doubts.

Its Time To Hand The Ball To Willie Jefferson
blueingreenland replied to Zontar's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm calling it now Willie will get defensive MVP -
I wonder what the Bombers are going to do when all our DE's get healthy? Jefferson and Jackson and Roh and Kongbo and now this new guy...an abundance of riches if all are healthy. Roh and McCallister might sit ( and yet Roh led our team in sacks last year).

2019 CFL Season: Around the League
blueingreenland replied to Mr Dee's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't understand this comment. Care to explain? -
I think McGuire outplayed Streveler in pre-season.
-
Yeah, it would take most nfl guys 2-3 yrs to play up to level here....some would never adjust.
-
That reminds me of a story I once heard about Gordie Howe. A number of years ago a reporter asked him, "If you played in today's NHL, how many goals would you score?" Gordie answered, "30!" The reporter queried further, "Only 30?" Gordie shot back, " What do you expect from a 75 year old!"

If Nichols year is over (I'm betting that even if he comes back he won't be the same), we need to beg either Glenn or Ray to come back. Those 2 are the only legit VET options.
-
I heard Deiter Brock on the radio recently (out here in SK) and he said he wasn't doing anything...SO...if he can still throw a football even 40 yards from his knees...heh, that's good enough for me!!
-
Yes. Without a legit #1 QB Montreal wasn't going anywhere. Vernon Adams has been the most hyped ( for potential) in the CFL (except for Manziel) the last 3 years. It looks like he is starting to find his groove. Good for Montreal and for Khari. Also shows that QB's in this league need time to develop!!!
-
Calgary IS STILL the team to beat. Until I see Dickenson shaking hands with the winning coach in the playoffs or (unlikely) Calgary misses the playoffs, I still say Calgary is on top of the mountain. They will be a better team when BLM comes back.
-
I'm thinking we get a couple of big returns out of our return guys...not saying TD's, but a couple of big yardage returns.
-
Yes it was close at the half. We've got the better team. We:re playing at home. They're playing on a shorter week....still...I hope we don't flub this one and take them lightly. Reilly is getting more time to throw. And we haven't exactly been lighting it up the last 3 games. I'd like to see Nichols open up the passing attack and the offense score early and often.
-
Do I get to fly my Saskatchewan flag? okay...I'll see myself out now
-
Hilarious!
-
Someday we won't have Nichols either. In fact, I'm betting that in the last 50 years or so the average # of years for a starting QB is probably pretty low. Brock was here the most - about 8 years. Clements about 4, Dunigan maybe 3, Khari and Glenn about the same. So unless we win the Grey Cup this year, my educated guess is that next year we move with someone else.
