Here from the free press It was the first year with O’Shea as head coach, however, and the Bombers field boss was asked Sunday what lessons he took away from his rookie season as a head coach. "We’ve got a lot of work to do. And there’s lots to learn still. That’s an easy answer," O’Shea said. Asked where his team needs to get better, O’Shea didn’t mince words. "Every phase. We want to win championships, so saying we’re going to fix one thing here, one thing there -- it doesn’t work that way. "We have to get better across the board -- we can’t afford to take penalties, we can’t give up so many turnovers, we can’t give up that number of sacks, we can’t give up those rushing yards, we need to be more effective in the red zone. "It’s everything. We’re trying to improve every facet of the game. What I’ve said to the coaches so far is we’re going to spend this off-season inspecting everything." Asked to assess the performances of his offensive coordinator Marcel Bellefeuille and defensive coordinator Gary Etcheverry, O’Shea was upbeat. "They’ve worked extremely hard. They’ve put their players in positions to be successful. They’ve done a pretty good job." But O’Shea hedged when asked if the two men would be back for the 2015 season, noting he hasn’t even yet had his own performance review from GM Kyle Walters. "When I have that meeting with Kyle, then I’ll be able to go down the line and go from there." http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/OShea-knows-Bombers-job-under-review-281234101.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

O'shea has kind of a point tho, I mean you can run the ball all you want but if you are only kicking fg's or starting at your own 20 or 30.. then big deal.. Calgary ran for 214 yards? That sucks...but they only scored one touchdown all game.. All that running they did, lead to nothing really. Yeah they turned the ball over and that's why they lost... Which kind of proves Mr Dees point that turnovers are way more important than how many yards you gain on the ground.

We win on Labour Day and the home game against Hamilton easily if he plays. I'm sure there are a few others where we were in second and long all game that he would have prevented. Or if we made the other teams running attack as useless as ours we could have won probably all our games this year. Calgary ran wild yesterday on us, but time of possesion in the first half was 16 minutes to 14 minutes for Calgary. I think you are making things to simple here, it's not about just the running game against us, it's about us turning the ball over at times, it's about play calling, it's about a lack of a run game so teams could send the house and beat our qb up cuz they knew we couldn't run. It's not as simple as just picking one aspect and saying that's the problem. It's a lot of issues.. Lost 6 or 7 by a touchdown or less and in most those games turned the ball over a heck of a lot of times, more than 1 or 2 times that's for sure. You don't think those turnovers played a bigger role? Yeah sask ran wild on us, so did a few teams but 6 or 7 games lost by a touchdown or less and turned the ball over a ton of times in those games? Don't think that played a little role at all? I'm not a huge fan of using stats because it doesn't really tell you the whole story but... it's been pretty proven that if you don't turn the ball over, you win. We don't turn the ball over in those games we lost by a touchdown or less and we more than likely win, even if the other team ran the ball down our throats.
-
Lost about 6 or 7 games by a touchdown or less... Surely playing Cotton in a few of those games makes a difference. Really the Difference between 10-8 or at worse 9-9 and 7-11 is probably a few of those games we lost by less than a touchdown and had absolutely zero threat of a run game at all.
-
none of them but i will watch the playoffs and in the grey cup game, I'll cheer for the team who hasn't won recently. However, if it's Edmonton vs Hamilton, I might not watch cuz those 2 teams along with the ALS are the teams i can't stand the most.

Marve looked ok again, Pretty average really but since he didn't get many reps this season and he is in his first year in the CFL, he does show potential to be pretty good. He has probably made a case to be the back-up next season, This year he was 3rd string. Brohm probably would have got the reps if he wasn't hurt but... Marve definitely made a case. His numbers are just average, really he's completed just 50 percent of his passes both games that he has been given extended playing time. For a first year guy? Not too bad at all. But maybe what it shows you is regardless who the QB has been, the offense has struggled to actually move the ball consistently IF they get away from the RUN, something they never had for basically week 2 to week 15 or whenever cotton started. Think if Willy had Cotton in there all year, you probably see them running the ball a bit more... Be nice to actually develop Marve properly, give him limited reps for a year or so more and then see what he can do, He's still learning the game.. and it's pretty obvious watching him that yes he shows potential but he still has a ways to go to be a legit starter. Willy is the guy next year... The back-up tho? Marve may have made a case in his limited reps that he can be that guy. Brohm is a free agent too. Marves numbers ain't that great.. struggled to move the ball too but i think part of that is on OC and part of that yesterday might have been the weather. Marve shows potential but he's not even close to being as good as Willy is. Give Marve some proper development tho and who knows what he can turn in to.

He takes a lot of heat from people who probably can't skate and has never played hockey in their lives. I agree though, He has been the best JET this season and if he got some help, IE: more than 1 goal a game, we would be in a playoff spot. Jets are 11th in the league in goals against, 28th in goals for. Fans always want to blame one guy tho regardless.

Doesn't pinnacle mean basically the best... or can't get much better than that? so really when you think about it, it makes sense.. You know it's been a long season when some seem to complain (one really) about the naming of the seats she has reached the pinnacle of her career. The P1's are obviously the best seats in the house aka they are the pinnacle of the seats at IGF. Pretty simple no? -
City Of Calgary = COC Guess if misspelling words is allowed, guess what that tells you is they are a bunch of dicks really.
-
Let me just add this.. one of Brohm or Portis needs to be signed too. To me, those 2 and Willy are pretty similar, maybe Portis a bit more mobile than Brohm so he might get my nod right now, however pretty tough to say when he hasn't seen the field at all. Marve is a nice change of pace QB, if the other 2 are struggling maybe you change it up for a series or 2 and go with the guy who brings the different element but... I like the idea of having 2 QB's who are similar and one who is not (the developing qb normally)

I honestly don't really understand why some fans think they deserve to know everything that is going on? Cuz you pay for a ticket i guess is the reasoning? Gotta be it actually... In the big picture tho, it's just football and it's for entertainment purposes, if you aren't being entertained or it's bothering you that much, man oh man, maybe should step away for a while and maybe not watch.. Honestly, i don't mind the criticism of the team but stuff like this? Man oh man, it's been MOS MO since he got here.. why don't people understand that? It's borderline insanity here actually. Why does it piss people off so much? and Why do some fans think they need to know every little thing that is going on with this club? Is it the community owned thing? people think they have the right to know everything cuz they think that means they are owners of the team? I don't get it. Some of these topics are crazy, got enough issues on the team, and bet your ass MOS is aware of them, he's just not going to come out in public and say it. What's the issue there? Do some people honestly believe they know more than the people who are being paid to do this for a living? Paul Maurice said it best a few weeks ago, the coach of the jets when he said basically we don't have an obligation to tell you what is going on in the room.. I loved his quote too, "i can make you ******* cry in that room".

Obviously that's not all you care about...since you are posting all these rumors that are not about wins! Its not a rumour if its true. Obviously that's not all you care about...since you are posting all these rumors that are not about wins! Its not a rumour if its true. prove it if it's true.. seriously tho, PROVE IT. Also, womanizers? really? who really gives a crap about that, if you truly didn't care like you say you didn't, you wouldn't bring it up Prove some of it, womanizers? i have friends who are womanizers, man whores, who really gives a crap about this stuff. It's irrelevant really. The bigger stuff you mention tho, prove it or maybe just stop. Cuz i really don't think you can prove what you are saying and hate to say it man, ain't nobody gonna believe you. -
Some still don't get it eh? MOS won't say things in the media, he hasn't all year, vague answers like every coach in the CFL gives, someone find me a coach in the CFL who constantly gives the media the inside scoop. That guy doesn't exist. I'm actually happy we only have one more game left cuz i think it's pretty obvious that some folks need to step away for a while and come back to reality.

Honestly, i can't respond back to the posts who say Crompton is better than Willy... I just can't cuz nothing good will come of it. All i'll say to those are.. Give us Montreals D and give us their oline and let's see what happens. Seriously, anyone who honestly believes Crompton is better than Willy... man oh man...SMH for sure. Also Collaros, the ticats have what? 7 wins? lefevour had what? 2 of them? 1 for sure tho... Collaros has cost hamilton some games too, has had chances to win some close games and couldn't do it. Taking the entire season in to account and taking all the other factors in to account like OLINE play, Defensive play, Receivers.. 1. BLM 2. Reilly 3. Ray 4. gets tricky here cuz these next 3 are really interchangable but lets just say 4a b and c, in no particuluar order either Willy,Glenn,Collaros 7.Durant- dude has missed half the season now, can't rate him either, he was doing nothing special when he was playing either 8.Crompton 9.Hank

Do you think Cheveldayoff is doing a good job?
Goalie replied to Atomic's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
I think i need some legit proof and not the type of proof that involves i heard from my cousins friends sisters brothers best friend who was at the bar at the same time they were. Really easy to speculate and BS but... for accusations like that, need legit proof cuz it's pretty much going over the line in my opinion. From BOGO is a coke head to wheeler punching out kane? Man, i dunno about that at all.. those are pretty bold statements to make with no way of backing it up other than i heard from a friends brothers mothers sisters cousins drunk boyfriends girlfriends best friend. People love to make up rumors with zero proof other than "i know for a fact", prove it if you know for a fact then, prove it or shut the hell up really about it right? But even if true, highly doubt they are.. the bogo the coke had rumor is because people say he has "coke head" eyes.. yup, that's what that rumor is based on, cuz he has coke head eyes... so in other words, i guess its coke heads accusing a guy of being a coke head cuz honestly, wtf are coke head eyes even. Pushing the line there of decency for sure. -
Any Jets fans here? What MOS does in his Press Conferences is what Paul Maurice does in his, He gives you a vague answer, because and like Maurice said to the media a few weeks ago, you don't need to know everything that is going on in the room. Honestly, Sometimes things are better left in the room. As fans, for some reason we seem to think we need to know it all, and if they aren't telling us everything, then they are lying or bs'ing us. But that's not the case, we need to remember what we are, fans, fanatics, we don't need to know it all, we only get little snippets and nuggets every now and then, can read in to those nuggets all we want and i suppose this is part of what this forum is really all about. For example, MOS in his PC on the official site when asked about wilson and jackson, said wilson played ok but would like to see Wilson play the slot position, why wasn't he play the slot position? is there a disconnect between what MOS wants and what MB is doing? There might just be, that's what this forum is for.. to discuss issues relating to the football club, i don't really think many people honestly care what MOS tells the media cuz i think for the most part, we all understand that we aren't getting the entire story ,we aren't getting the full truth, we are getting vague answers, and that's all we really deserve and need to know. Is it the right approach? It depends who you ask but i do notice that for the most part, if you watch other PC's from other coaches, they all say generally the same thing, they answer the questions really in riddles, very vague generic responses.. If you really break it down, you can probably, if you have the time, break it down and come up with several different commonly used phrases or "quotes" that every coach from every team uses. In hockey, it's generally "we just need to play our system" "we just came out a bit slow today" "we just need to be ready to compete at the start of the game" "we need to play harder" "we need to execute better". The general vague answers, Same with football, every coach in every PC gives the same answer pretty much, the coaches who come out and throw people under the bus in the media, they don't last too long these days it appears. As fans we need to remember that what goes on in the dressing room, as much as maybe some want to believe it's our business, it's really NOT at all. You know what would shock me? If MOS or a coach in football came out and said 'we suck, we deserved to lose, we have no talent, playoffs? hell we couldn't even bit a pee wee team, our oline? please? they suck, our qb sucked tonight too, our D couldn't stop ****, we suck, we had no chance and i knew it all along, jesus christ why did i take this god forsaken job even, what was i thinking, our talent is crap, we suck, awful... rrrrrrrrrrraaahhhhhbbbbllleeee rahhhhhhhbbbbllleee... That would shock the crap out of me cuz you just don't see that this day and age anymore. This old school mentality that we as fans deserve to know everything going on in the locker room and deserve to know all the answers, it needs to stop cuz it ain't going back to that, was it ever really like that to begin with even? i suppose in some sports more than others... but what you see now a days, is the guys who are hot heads in the media and call out their players all the time(john torterella comes to mind in hockey), they really don't last that long. Players tune them out. What a coach says to the media isn't what he is telling the players behind closed doors. You can bet your ass that MOS has reemed out a few players behind closed doors, bet on it, but why would he do in public? to appease like 20 fans on a message board? nope. Like Paul Maurice said a few weeks ago.. "i could make you ******* cry in that dressing room".

Bombers will start new WR Jerrell Jackson vs Stamps
Goalie replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Just a little interesting nuggest from the MOS PC on the official bomber site. When asked about the difference between jackson and wilson, MOS said wilson is faster but jackson is stronger... here's the interesting nugget tho, when asked how wilson did, MOS said he did ok, he did ok in my opinion too, but MOS said he'd like to see Wilson used in the slot position. Well guess the question would be, why wasn't he used in the slot position? Just based on that and some other things i've read recently, seems to me there is a bit of a disconnect between what MOS might want to see and what MB wants to see. IMO, MB is gone in the off-season. -
Honestly, i think sacks for is a tad over rated, sacks against is the real story tho. If you can just pressure QB'S, that's enough sometimes to get them off their game, let's use Kevin Glenn as an example, very cerebral qb, doesn't do anything fancy, when he is on, he is on but when he gets hit or has pressure in his face, he crumbles. Same with RAY really, best QB i have seen play in the CFL in my life time, no doubt about it, you pressure him tho and he starts to struggle too. Sacks for is a fancy stat for sure, but that's really all it is, a stat.. would i like to see that dominant pass rushing defensive end? For sure i would, i'm a fan, i love when players get sacks against the other team, it's exciting, AND HE'S SACKED FOR A 10 YARD LOSS, huge play, big momentum changer but you know what... If its 2nd and 5 and you pressure the QB enough so he isn't able to complete that pass to get the first down, it's good enough. Sacks for? nice stat for sure, but really that's all it is.. sacks against? shows you that you have some problems, whether it be oline, scheme or qb play. I think sacks against is an indication of 1. poor oline play, c'mon man, can blame willy last game for most the sacks but this season as a whole? not so much, pretty tough to throw when by the time the ball gets to you, you have a guy in your grill already, 2. poor qb play, last game vs BC was a result of this and probably the most important yet probably most overlooked problem it shows..3. offensive schemes. Pretty obvious the O schemes we run aren't the best and IMO, i don't think MB is using the players to the best of their abilities.
-
I guess the only real question i have after reading most these posts in this thread is to those who think playing marve gives us a better chance to win... Why do you think this? There is no real reasoning other than "I think he gives us the best chance to win". Why? because he came in with no game film vs calgary and completed half of his passes? He didn't even light calgary up that much, he actually looked very much like a first year CFL QB, running for his life more often than not, yeah he completed a couple nice passes and he made some plays with his feet but besides that? what did he do? Did he come in and win the game? Listen, i like Marve and what he has to offer too but throwing a green as goose poop QB in there to start, man it's setting him up for failure really. Honestly, I would rather us develop Marve slowly instead of throwing him in to the fire, he's a young guy, really young, he could have a very long career ahead of him, i'd like to see that actually but throwing him in now, before he is probably ready, cuz if he was ready, he wouldn't have been running every other play when he did play, is just asking him to fail. Seen it so many times the last few seasons, this backup qb envy that our fan base has is insane, It's like Jets fans wanting Hutchinson to play this season when The team in front of him can't even score 2 goals really per game, what difference can the guy make really? This teams problem isn't at the QB position, it's really not.. it's elsewhere for sure, It's an OC problem, It's a DC problem (even that is kind of debatable) (but you can't really debate it on here cuz people have their opinions on the DC and it won't change regardless) But to throw a green qb in there to start against the best team in the league who now has film on the guy, man oh man, those who repeat history are doomed to fail for sure. Not sure why people want to ruin the development of both our QB's at the same time really. Cuz sitting a healthy willy, has to be if he's starting, and playing a green Marve, who does look like he has the ability to be a good one down the line,is definitely trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. That's not cool at all. I am fan with them starting Willy, he needs the reps, like has been stated several times, first year starter, pretty much a rookie starter at that, he needs the reps to get better and learn. Marve, i'm sure he will get some playing time this game, i'm sure of it, i hope he doesn't come out tho and crap the bed when he does get the chance to get some reps, cuz man with this fanbase, if marve started and struggled this week, the same people calling for him to start would be bitching that he did, why would MOS start marve and ruin him is what they would be saying. Honestly at times, the team is damned if they and damned if they don't. It might not be a popular opinion but i think that one of the problems this team has had, is the fan base is way too impatient.. it's a problem, don't care if people are homers, gloomers, doomers, sky is falling after every losss, whatever.. don't give a crap, to each their own but... throwing in a green qb to play against the best team in the league... it's asking the guy to fail. How many qb's is this fan base gonna ruin?
-
I don't like the " the team hasn't won in 24 years thing" too much, it's not like it's the same players, heck most BOD members have changed since then, all of them even? I have no idea actually but i'd assume all of them have indeed changed, It's not this regimes fault, this regime was just put together last season, reality really is this season as they named the coaches pretty later in the off-season. Different players, different BOD members, different GM'S, different presidents, different coaches, different players... and none of them have won. Starts to make one wonder if maybe the problem isn't something else actually. Before you learn to walk you have to crawl and before you run you have to learn to walk.. have we allowed them to crawl? perhaps this season we started crawling, pretty close in most games, maybe next year we start to walk and then we will be well on our way to running. Patience i think is needed, 2011 wasn't that long ago folks, we were in the cup that year. Just curious, if we won the cup vs sask a few years back (the one where glenn was hurt the week or 2 b4 the cup) or in 2011, would we still be going on about this? Cuz it's not like the team hasn't made it to the playoffs or grey cup in 24 years, they just haven't won. Things just haven't gone in our way when we made it.. didn't a 14-4 bomber team lose to an 8-10 stampeder team in the grey cup one year too during the drougt?

Very interesting article about the oline and schemes
Goalie replied to blitzmore's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Perhaps the old dogs on the oline, morley janaury can't be taught new tricks? Our oline has been poor for a long time and those 2 have been the main stays on it for a long time. I have to agree with those who are talking about MB in Montreal with AC, got him killed, destroyed night in night out... Saw the same stuff this year. Can't teach old dogs new tricks whether it be players or coaches.
