You just don't get it. That's not his mantra. We all know it's not just another game, he knows it as well. That doesn't mean he's going to say it, much like how he said we'd be the same team with Brohm under the controls if he ended up getting the start tomorrow when we obviously would not be. Not that difficult to understand how O'Shea handles himself in the press. I fully get his mantra but O'Shea has to realize he's in the entertainment business and not politics, so as the Bombers only spokesman he owes the fans and the media a modicum of respect in providing valid "real-time" references in regard to the Bombers status during his press conferences. Otherwise fans and media will begin to tune out "his message" once the playoff hopes fade and the "new coach is cool" infatuation wears off. Once the media is starved for relevant info. they begin to fill their columns with drivel like Wiecek has recently. -

are you a doctor? Did you examine him? I'm sure they aren't risking his long term health for a non divisional game. Yeah... the bombers have never done that with QBs... Thought I saw a photo the other day of Buck wearing a white coat with a stethoscope around his neck. Ya don't suppose.... -
Ahhh, you're probably right, I likely misinterpreted it. I suspect the Bombers injury travails have been the determining factor in deciding were the D.I.'s play this season. No excuse for next season though, I wanna see 2-3 RB options available for every game. Mono-iz-no-goodo.

Well, this is it. Time for O'Shea to admit that winning this next game is critical and not just another game. It's now or never time. -

As I posted in another thread Paul LaPolice wrote that most CFL teams are using at least one D.I. to enhance their running games. Bombers are using them up exclusively on the D. If they can ever get back to 3 Natls. on the O-line I would like to see them follow this trend. http://www.tsn.ca/lapolice-what-s-happened-to-running-backs-this-year-1.90899 -
Name one team that switched out their running back for something other than an injury or a problem with ball security. In the following article Paul LaPolice explains how the extra two D.I.'s allowed for 2014 have changed the running game in the CFL. http://www.tsn.ca/lapolice-what-s-happened-to-running-backs-this-year-1.90899 Here is an outtake from that article. One of the most important things to understand with this roster size now is that you have the ability to plan and practice expecting to have the DI available to you if you are a coordinator because of the four spots. In previous years with less DI's, often the DI would be decided depending on the health status of your roster. For example, you may have to dress an Import DI receiver because one of your starting import receivers is banged up and may not play the whole game. If you normally used a DI running back, you would have to make the switch and take the DI running back off the roster and replace him with DI wide receiver. Nowadays, you can have both on the roster and still be able to gameplan for the roster spot as a DI running back. So how does all that relate to running back rushing yards? Teams are allowed to break up the rushing job to more than one back and are able to build packages with two tailbacks in the game at the same time. Edmonton has utilized this by having Kendial Lawrence and Tyler Thomas on the roster. They can split carries as well as be in the game at the same time and have plays designed for each other. Lawrence is 11th in rushing and Thomas is 16th. Add their rushing yards together and they would lead the CFL in rushing. Edmonton also has Jon White, who has also rushed for 334 yards this season but is on the six-game injured list. Saskatchewan also has had success with using multiple import running backs on the roster. Anthony Allen leads the Riders with 593 yards which puts him third in rushing in the CFL. Will Ford is sixth in rushing with 425 yards and is able to be part of a 1-2 punch that the Riders rushing attack will hit defences with. Toronto has utilized several different backfield combinations this season but normally carry two import running backs. Curtis Steele is eighth in rushing with 437 yards and a healthy Steve Slaton is starting to come on with 224 yards so far. Montreal is fun to watch with Brandon Whitaker, who leads the CFL with 695 yards and they can also line up with Tyrell Sutton in the backfield. Sutton gets the opportunity to prove his worth and not have to wait for an injury to the starter to be on the roster. .

Looks like the pressure to win has just been cranked up again. A loss with Brohm was expected a loss with Willy is unaccepted. -
Absolutely. Other than this past season, it was at it's best since the Will Ferrell years. Digital shorts were some of the best work SNL has ever had. This song about the US gov't shutdown was fantastic... The humour in that video escapes me.

Name one team that switched out their running back for something other than an injury or a problem with ball security. Sask., Edmonton, Toronto, B.C., Calgary, Montreal, Hamilton have all used more than one RB's during games to mix things up. Bombers are the only team that has relied on a single back so as to not confuse their opponents with trickery. Why are you defending the Bombers approach to running? The stats. speak. We've used Paris Cotton, Troy Stoudermire, Carl Volny and MP Pontbriand out of the backfield at certain times this season. I'm defending their approach because the impression you have is wrong. Mike, you're serving some exceptionally weak sauce today. Between the lot I doubt they have 20 carries in total, hardly an exploration of the possibilities that exist even within the current team personnel. Bolton probably got tired of waiting around for a shot and when Cotton joined him on the P.R. he packed his bag and left. Will McGuffie be the next to give up without a shot or will he whither on the PR until Marcel takes a fancy to him.

That's the reason their feeding Pencer, Goosen and Hinse to be able to come in as backups when injury calls. You still think Pencer is here? What team do you follow? Sorry, meant Swiston. They're frickin' interchangeable in my mind as neither has contributed squat.

A 300+ lb. D.E. can inflict a serious amount of pain in an instant as happened when Durant met Mr. Turner. If he's not healed sufficiently Willy won't have a chance to get sore, it's more likely he'll get broken. -

Funny, Walters admits that there is a problem with getting the running game up to par but the Bombers have done little with personnel to address that issue. Most other CFL teams have been switching RB's in and out and experimenting with different combinations while the Bombers stand pat with Grigsby as the lone back and the worst team rushing stats. in the league.

You mean Howard is a healthy scratch? Can't understand keeping Knapp around taking up a roster spot if both Jones, Howard and now Tyler are ahead of him. What's the plan? Might as well cut him loose and bring in an Intl. player in a different position of need as the Bombers have a glut of Intl. O-linemen.

yeah I just hate when players show that battle level, much rather have a team full of *******. Please provide an example of QB with a high "battle level" were the story ended well. -

Seriously the Bombers need to take this decision out of the hands of Willy and put in the hands of the club doctors. I already know O'Shea is going to say that it's up to Willy to decide but that isn't in the best interest of the football club. Unlike BC or Calgary having their number one QB out for a season is not an issue the Bombers are remotely prepared to deal with. Willy is an asset that needs to be managed for the long-term benefit. -

I'm hoping if and when the Bombers are eliminated from playoff competition they really give each of the 3 backups a good amount of game play to see how they fare. Going into next season blindly with the existing question marks at backup QB is not desirable and they have to realize it improves the team immensely if the backup QB can step in and actually continue on with the program rather than just being a place holder for Willy. Very few QB's make it through an entire season unscathed but top teams manage to stay competitive if they have a QB in the wings with real game experience. I like how Hamilton used Lefevour last year in every game for a few sets just to get his feet wet even though Burris could have played every down. It paid dividends this year when Collaros was injured for a few games and Lefevour took over and did reasonably well. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. -

I remember Eugene Goodlow (spelling?) as a standout receiver that Brock threw to in the early 80's. If I remember correctly he broke his neck in a game against Calgary, and it was the last game he played for Winnipeg as he went to the NFL in the off-season. Goodlow became the first player in CFL history to reach 100 receptions in a season during the 1981 season. -

He did, but he kept breaking, Willy just doesn't break. He gets hurt, but he stays in the line up. Willy might be tough....but he breaks just like a little girl. Yes, he does. You remind me of a Rider fan. Sorry. That is the enigma that is Bob Dylan. Here's another Bob quote. He used to be greeeen but now he's unseeeen and noooobody knows why he's bluuuuuue. I've got more. -
