I think both Etch and Marcel are going to be sacrificed whether O'Shea and Walters agree they are the problem or not and here is why, Marketing 101. The Bombers need to think about marketing "HOPE" for next season and the only way they can accomplish this is to sign some big name players or to find a new set of co-ordinators with some cache and a whole lot of promise to lure back season ticket buyers. Sure as **** they won't be able to drum up any sense of hope in their 3 remaining games.

Garcia for O.C. Cavillo continues to talk about his future coaching role with the Als. so unlikely Garcia will be able to progress to O.C. in Mtl. even if they cut Dinwiddie loose.

Mental reps.? What does that mean, paying attention?

Thanks for that report. Willy must be pretty banged up if he's not taking the first team reps. on the last day of practice. Might explain his accuracy issues on the long balls. Does Portis even dress for the games? Seems kind of dumb to be giving the most important reps to #4.

Realistic Changes for Next Year
Fatty Liver replied to NotoriousBIG's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I hope with Newman's return the Bombers continue to develop Sherman and don't waste his abilities by relegating him to permanent backup status and special teams player like Volny. Sherman has come a long way this season and IMO he will only continue to improve his play in the next couple of years. I'd like to see both him and Newman anchoring the OLB jobs along with Wild for the next couple of years revolving around a not-yet-found monster-man at MLB. -
People complain about O'Shea's post game interviews…i wouldn't want to be within arm's length of Austin when a delicate question has to be asked. By the way, has anybody seen Sinkfield since yesterday? Interesting to hear Austin say what O'Shea has been saying, that not all penalties are penalties, and that the coaches have to do a better job of coaching the players. All coach's say the same things, seems to be the party line. Including reference to having to watch the game film to understand what happened and than never hearing back regarding their conclusions. If you watch Chamblin's interviews it's amazing how similar his answers are to O'Shea's.

Two entertaining post game videos on the Scratching Post, naked men in the Collaros video and Austin doing his very best not to spit venom on reporters for asking questions. http://scratchingpost.thespec.com/

Oh good. O'Shea is bringing Howard back in to RG just in time for the Odell Willis's somersault parade. Secretly O'Shea has a death wish for Drew Willy cause he's a red headed step child.

Great comeback by the Argos! RR comes alive.

Woodson looks like he's developed into an exciting player. Who did the Bomber's get for him?
-
Turns out Collaros is a pretty decent QB after-all.
-
Ricky Ray seems to save his best games for the Bombers.

Good or bad sounds like an ideal Etch selection for MLB.

Have you watched him play? He's a poor running back. Decent receiver though. I'd start Grisby ahead of Romby. I wouldn't go that far, however, I think the Bombers should seriously consider converting Grigsby to receiver over the offseason. He's average at best as a RB but he could be a dynamic receiver if he was able to make the transition. A young Jamel Richardson in the making. It would take some work and carries some risk but the payoff could be huge. If you'll notice most of Grigsby's catches are made when no one is covering him. Not sure he would be a good route runner or be able to catch the ball in traffic. He'd probably do well with YAC though. Grigsby has talent and I believe he is a valuable commodity, just need to find the best way to make use of that talent. He might just turn out to be a Durie with the wrong passport. I've been waiting all year for Cotton to be given an honest chance to showcase the success he exhibited in the pre-season but at this point running under Marcel's orchestration I highly doubt he will be able to accomplish much more than Grigsby. Hard to prove a RB's worth on 5-10 carries per game but here's hoping he grabs the ball and runs with it, I predict this is his last chance.

Good article and clip on Wade Miller
Fatty Liver replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I liked the article and the subject matter. Very impressive what an 11 year old mind can conceive but even more impressive when he follows through on the plan. Can't say a bad word about Turner when compared with the dregs that haunt us now. -

The Bombers Won't Win Again This Season
Fatty Liver replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I disagree. This is already a competitive team and when healthy maybe even a decent team. What we need more than anything is depth so that losing a player like Moore or Wild doesn't leave the team without adequate players in those positions. Sure there's some places that could use upgrades, but to suggest that this team isn't competitive already is just ludicrous. They have been competitive in almost every game they've played this season. If we add 4 or 5 difference makers we're one of the best teams in the league. Or is that what you mean by competitive? Being one of the best is the only way to be competitive? Cause that's equally ridiculous. If you consider being in most of the games competitive, I guess we're competitive, but I don't look at it that way. I call top half of the league competitive and I sincerely doubt we will be there at the end of the season. Winning more than you lose is competitive, losing more than you win isn't. Losing 8 out of 9 games isn't competitive. We were great in the first third of the season, competitive for the first half of the season, but we aren't anymore and we're still trending downward. 4 or 5 upgraded players won't get us to top spot in the league. It will put us in the top half, which is where we need to be to not only make the playoffs, but have a chance of winning it all. In retrospect were the Bombers are now is very similar to were the Esks. were last year, especially when comparing Willy to Reilly. The Esks. came close in a lot of games last year but ultimately finished with a 4-14 record with two of those being V's against Wpg. That got their H.C. fired but they have played very well this year in general. Hopefully the Bombers trend is the similar. -
I agree, O'Shea can criticize specific aspects of the team without naming names when they under-perform instead of deflecting as he does. I like Chamblin's no-nonsense approach with fans, players and media alike, he is brutally honest, straight forward and doesn't throw players under the bus. He does bench players though so he makes clear there are consequences for poor play. If you watched the RR/Stamps game after he pulled Doege, Chamblin had a face to face with him from about 6" embracing him with his hands on his shoulder and helmet as he would a son. He wasn't yelling at him but actually speaking directly to him though words and his eyes. To me that shows ultimate accountability. Isn't chamblin also the guy that bans the media from attending practices? you think that would fly here? LOL. For every good that one coach on another team does, there are equally as bad things he does and if he was coaching here, the fans would rip him a new one too. Maybe worse even, Chamblins coaching pretty much lead the riders to lose a few games earlier in the season they shouldn't have also and you can even say that not playing sunseri the entire game vs calgary was a coaching mistake. The kid looked good that game. What if he played the entire game? Perhaps sask would have won? I wasn't comparing coaching results just different styles of communication. So what are you really saying? That all coaches should communicate the way YOU want them to? or they should all communicate the same no matter what? Or that definitely one method of communication is better than the others because you think it is? IMO O'Shea obfuscates the problems the Bombers are currently facing and in doing so he treats both the fans and the media like they couldn't possibly have any understanding of football (shades of Kelly) or that it's none of our business (a deeper shade of Kelly). I have no idea of how he communicates with his players because as much as I've tried they still won't let me sit in the locker room.

I agree with the highlighted part of your post. I think O'Shea sees himself as one of the guys so it's going to be hard for him to send his buddies down the road with an apple when they under-perform. O'Shea has the "Daddy complex" and I'm not sure his personality is tough enough to morph into becoming the villain of his own children.

Lawless: Bombers need to sign Ben Heenan
Fatty Liver replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Do we have anyone we'd be willing to trade who could fetch us anything close to a first? Willy might get them a first rounder.
