  1. Ain't no way Willy is signing his next paper with $250,000 printed on it.
  2. One thing that Willy did not do particularly well last year was throw on the run. Hopefully he has upgraded that skill in the off-season and is able to use roll-outs to buy more time. In lieu of this ability Willy took to running more in the second half of the season which did not go particularly well and may have contributed to his on-going injury problems. Improving the O-line will help but it will not alleviate the pressure placed on a pure pocket passer (see Tino Sunseri) as pressure is exerted from multiple sources to counter better protection. Upgraded receivers will also help if they can find space quickly and add YAC yards to their receptions. The more I think about it the better I see Willy fitting into a Ricky Ray style offence. Wonder if that's the plan?
  3. Do you mean Migs was incorrect when he said that Durant would be ready to go for the playoffs last year? Can't believe it, blasphemy!
  4. @FarhanLaljiTSN Khari Jones will be interviewing for the @SFUFootball job on Fri. #CFL #BCLions
  5. Why? Lots of American RB's that come up here on their first CFL contract aren't making anywhere near league minimum. Chad Simpson for example. Brought him in from the States and he was making well above league minimum. Sure, some RBs that arrive might be making league minimum or close to it, but I wouldn't just assume that a guy like Toston (who wouldn't be coming in as a starter), will be making a whole boat load of cash or really any more than Joe NFL-Cut. Every contract is different. It's not about the money, it's about the fact that we should be able to recruit a decent running back and not pick up a retread like Toston who's proven that he isn't a starter. Toston didn't get much of a chance to prove anything last year in Chamblins' "shuffle and bench" RB system. The few times that I saw him play indicated that he was elusive, had good power and was hard to bring down. In such a small sample size better to look at his game film from previous performances which I'm sure Walters has done. Here are some NFL highlights. College.
  6. I like bringing in Toston as a second RB but hope they bring in a bucket load of recruits to compete for TC as well. Khalif can be a handful when motivated much like Willis, not a bad pickup for the Als. if they brought him in at a good price and he's in good physical shape..
  7. Underpopulated as well, I question this location, some place deeper in the mid-west like Michigan or even Iowa would attract more under-employed football players IMO.
  8. Yeah! They've finally paid heed to my ceaseless complaints about the non-diversified running attack! Thank you Kyle Walters.
  9. Anybody know if Chic had any tryouts with NFL teams and how they went? Obviously wasn't offered any kind of commitment if he signed back with the Riders.
  10. Kind of indicates that Desjardins is getting smarter with his spending and wants to put out the minimum needed to acquire Curran. Still I don't have much optimism that Walters will outspend that maniac at the poker table. Walters got Bryant but it looks like Desjardin preferred Rogers and didn't bid on Bryant or at least realized he wasn't going to be able to afford both.
  11. Based on what information?
  12. How can they afford Chick and Alex Hall and continue in the bidding for Curran and Glenn??? Should be noted that the Rider's bookkeeper lives in Balgonie, Sask....or is it Balognie?
  13. You can't develop a QB without giving him playing time. If it wasn't for Brohm getting injured last year, Marve probably wouldn't have seen the field at all. I was not overly impressed with O'Shea's management of resources last year, especially during the 7 game skid. Backup QB's should have gained more playing time during this period. Cotton/Grigsby took too long to resolve and Romby should have remained parked on the PR roster throughout IMO. Hopefully O'Shea acquires more flexibility in his thinking than he exhibited in his rookie year.
  14. Your name insults the Bombers all-time leading scorer. If my high horse keeps me from sinking to that level, I'm fine staying up here. Like Jane Seymour says, if you keep an open heart, love will find it's way in. Riiight....have you ever looked at his career averages???? Here's a clue, his career average is 72%! 72%! Only 1 season where he was over 80% & that was only 80.4% (once in 20+ years) If he was any good, at all he'd have way way more points. He's only the bomber career points leader because of how long our stupid franchise kept him around...Saying a player sucks when that player actually does suck is not an insult. Go cry somewhere else... Let it go. Westwood has been retired for like 40 years. The only person that cares about your hate on is....you.
  15. You think not playing (and paying for) music of a convicted child abuser is censorship? Or did I misunderstand? Because that's like saying you think child porn should be legal in the name of fighting censorship. I don't believe those guys you mentioned were ever convicted of anything. So very different. You're close to defending a perilous argument. "If you're not with us you're with the child pornographers" Vic Toews the man who impregnated his babysitter and now sits on the Court of Queen's Bench. It's music not child pornography. Do you think we should we burn all of Leonardo da Vinci's paintings and writings because he had a predilection for young boys?
  16. I think Glenn was in the spotlight in 2014 due to the RedBlacks fiasco and he was given a great opportunity in BC to prove all of his critics wrong ...unfortunately he failed to do so. I was all for bringing him in last year but not this year, his ship has sailed.
  17. Might as well add Elvis, Jerry Lee, Ronnie Wood, Vic Toews and countless others to your list of criminals while you're at it. Any of them prosecuted??? I hate ******* censorship.
  18. If this were 2011-12 I would agree with you. 2015 KG not so much. All I'm saying is a year ago a lot of guys were happy to pick up Burris LOL. KG at the right price (150-175k) wouldn't be so bad. Do you really think marve or portis is going to perform better than kg? Desperate times call for desperate measures. I was more than happy to have Glenn as a safety net last year but I would rather see Marve and Portis get the future reps if and when Willy gets injured, not Glenn.
  19. I think that will happen by default.
  20. Hard to say what Volny could have done, no coach in Wpg. ever had the faith to give him the ball more than a handful of times in a season. It might well be that he's had enough of the Bombers and was not interested in coming back to the same situation. At least he's going home to Mtl.
  21. Don't know if this has been mentioned yet but Carl Volny has been signed by Montreal. Hope he is given a better opportunity there.
  22. ****! Didn't realize he was even available. Wonder why the Bombers didn't pursue? We gave him a "no thank you" late in the season this year. His asking price was insane. It's funny now that I read reports that we were after him in the Regina media. If so, we could have had him already, Not just Regina media: Kirk Penton @PentonKirk #Roughriders sign defensive end Alex Hall. The #Bombers were hoping to snag him. #CFL I stand corrected. Odd, because last year during one of the games shortly after Hall's NFL release, Irving commented that the Bombers had been in touch with Hall about possibly coming back and were floored by his asking price. He wanted a salary equivalent to John Chick. (We have since learned that is 200k per year), so the Bombers backed away. Wonder what changed? Did Alex reduce his asking price significantly or did we just have more money to spend this year? Could be neither I suppose and the Riders gave him his ridiculous ask. I would love to hear what the Riders are paying him. ****! Didn't realize he was even available. Wonder why the Bombers didn't pursue? We gave him a "no thank you" late in the season this year. 24. We're getting to the point where we're probably at one or two more pieces then we call it a free agency. Like I said two days ago, I still feel we need to leave enough room on our roster to allow our scouting to pay dividends as well. We shouldn't be filling every hole in free agency. I'd like to see us get two of Curran, Peters and Sears. At most. We're getting to the point where we're probably at one or two more pieces then we call it a free agency. With Newman, Sherman and now Hurl, I don't see the need to pursue Peters but would love to see Sears back.
  25. Curtis Steele re-ups with Argos.
