Love the 3rd one.

These last 5 posts, especially Geebrr’s, are a fair assessment of the team right now. Edmonton’s d-line was tough for the club to handle the last couple of weeks as it relates to the pass protection, and Collaros (not the entire offence) struggled a little more with some under throwing and pressures these last 2 weeks. Only 9 sacks given up going into last night, and 4 in the game, but we adjusted to the 2019 offence of run-heavy, ball security, clock killing, efficient, dare I say boring but winning LaPo style which utilized our o-line and running back strengths to pull away, as we often do.

True, but then they shifted their offensive focus to the clock-killing run game, with solid results. And there is a world of difference between sloppy and shitty. I’m all for not getting complacent and glossing over mistakes, but 1) Mike O’Shea does not strike me as a coach who wi do that, and 2) to call the team really bad and declare it a fact beyond debate is a stretch that would make Gumby proud. Thinking that every game should turn out like these guys would predict and anything less is failure is not reality.

So was I. Held my breath every time, and after the miss was waiting to hear the wolves at the door. But he did enough to earn a stay of execution for another game. Hopefully people will root for him instead of begging him to pack his bags. A step in the right direction at least, and the second time we have needed our kickers to be the difference in a game they have come through.

People on this board calling our team shitty. How would we label their mental state?

1. Oliveira - stepped in mid-game and decided to take it over. 2. Mourtada - NO ONE came into this game with more pressure on him, with no teammate to cover for him if he missed an assignment, and he came through. We won by 10 points and he accounted for 14. Still holding my breath when he lines up, but he got the job done tonight. 3. Bighill - Jefferson is still the game-wrecker, even if he disappears on some plays, and Jeffcoat has a higher ceiling of big play ability, but no one has been as consistently excellent this year. The glue of the defence. HH - Kenny Lawler caught a pass that got called back on a blocking penalty, then dropped one before converting a 2nd and 20 with a huge downfield catch on a broken play. Two Harris touches later and the Bombers took a lead they would not relinquish. Big turnaround play when the offence had little traction in the first half.

Let’s hope so. So far O’Shea says all the right things with the “we are looking to go 1-0 next week”. But lots of teams don’t repeat, and the sense of urgency isn’t there like the pressure of 29 years of losing. So I don’t want to say they would never party, but it certainly would be out of character for this crew.

Second half, TOP 18:20 to 11:40 Bombers and the run game (with one big play) and our usual 4th quarter D put it away.

Shitty? God it must be tough getting out of bed in the morning living such a downcast life. We are 9-1, our defence is among the best ever, our special teams came through today, we are in the playoffs, and our run game took over the second half. Step back off the ledge, we are in excellent shape. After 29 years of futility, we should all be doing cartwheels this season.
