  1. Wheeler finally gets rewarded.
  2. Look again. BTW, with Scheifele injured, Jets are 1-4 with 11 goals scored and 22 against. Power play 1/11. As you would say…..interesting.
  3. Jets have missed the net from the slot between the dots or closer at least 4 times already tonight.
  4. So I did not realize that the International designation is no more with the Global addition. It’s now National, American, and Global, so no chance to switch Hansen to International and bring in a new minimum salary Global. So yes, they should scrap the low cap.
  5. Has been re-set for April 28 at 6:00 pm at IG Field. Check your e-mail to see if you got a registration request to attend.
  6. Good question. Is it surviving now with only diehards? What confounds me is that the centres with the biggest populations (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver) are in the most trouble. One would think more people would mean more overall fans, but they show large scale indifference. Maybe a downsize to smaller communities and a profit model where 15,000 attendance means a profit or 10,000 is break even. So either ticket prices go up or costs need to be slashed to make that feasible, and open up a smaller place like Halifax, Moncton, Saskatoon, Victoria, London, Laval, etc. as a place to put a team.
  7. Pierre Luc Labbe, sporting the number of his draft position for motivation.
  8. There certainly could be more than I am thinking. I have a hunch that there will be some who say they will never watch and mean it, and may truly believe it and will boycott early, but will relent at some point. I vowed never to watch baseball again after the 94 strike robbed the Expos of a World Series and then killed the team. Kept that principled stance for 20 years too, but the Jays’ run in 2015 brought me back, because I had a team to root for again.
  9. I would agree that a switch to 4 downs will not attract more eyes. And there is nothing wrong with the CFL rules at all. Which is why the league should not consider it. But in the same breath I remember many saying once the Jets left they would never watch the Moose, and they did stay away for a while, but once the Moose became competitive in the playoffs and the return of the Jets seemed far off they could draw good numbers, because they were the only local alternative and fans like to root for a team rather than just watch. W cause of the sport. There are lots of reasons to not consider 4 downs. The best I think is that it won’t really draw the new viewers anyway who prefer the stars of the NFL. And to me it would be a more boring game. Not sure if it would scare off the current fans though, even if they are disgruntled to begin with.
  10. Unpopular, sure. But is it inaccurate? How many people would really quit watching football in Winnipeg if we switched from 3 downs to 4? I hope it doesn’t happen, but if it is a choice between 4 down football or no football, how many die hards truly mean it when they say they’ll opt for the latter? And like it or not, diehards have not kept the league profitable and are an aging population. Exhaust other options please (like better marketing in the trouble spots) but status quo isn’t working.
  11. You always want to ask the question you already know the answer to. When she says “I did not say that” you pull up the video showing that she did, and she is a proven liar on the stand. When she flips to “I don’t recall” again and again the absurdity of her answers shows her to be a coward or completely ignorant, and not at all credible. Both still bad looks for her, and the lawyer knows the videos are out there and the public will excoriate her anyway, which is where he wants it to go. You want the denial you can prove is a lie first, or the lame “I don’t recall” which you then follow up with “so you’re admitting you could have said it, but just don’t remember” which he has done over and over. Attack her credibility and don’t give her the chance to explain why she said what she said, just get it out there that she said it. In the end, this case is likely not won on the facts but a legal interpretation of what constitutes treason and what protections there are for politicians. And she will probably win (court has already ruled favourably for her in a past case precedent). As loathsome as she is, removing her from a ballot through a legal mechanism will only harden her base that she is being silenced by the deep state. If there was solid evidence that she planted the bombs near the Capitol (the photo comparing her shoes is not solid enough to create anything more than mere speculation) then there would be a real case to be made, but attacking political rhetoric even as thinly veiled as this sets up a slippery slope about the First Amendment that I don’t think the courts really want to wade into. The US treats its Constitution and Amendments very seriously and don’t like to limit or strip away their intent.
  12. A pretty sparse number for today. Fitting then that a weak number gets a weak jersey picture Mike Cornell, BTW.
  13. So if he is the worst on the roster, what’s the issue with him being the lowest paid? If he isn’t the worst then doesn’t that help expand the global initiative by changing his designation and bringing in another Global? Maybe that was the intent of establishing a salary for them. How many. Canadians make more money than a better American player because we have ratio rules which make them required and thus more expensive because of supply and demand?
  14. Again, what is preventing the Bombers from declaring that Hansen is an International and paying him more?
  15. Rooting for Connor to take a late run at 50 goals or 100 points, that’s about it.
  16. You’d make a great NHL GM…….to commit highway robbery on with every knee-jerk trade you’d make at the first moment of hardship.
  17. I get it’s a personal beef, I’m just wondering out loud if it’s the best look to go public on Twitter with it in the manner that he does?
  18. So some random humour for the thread. “Mulhouse” is trending on Twitter and I clicked to see why:
  19. We’ll agree to disagree. He’s not a fan, he’s a public broadcaster who is supposed to be professional, not a biased homer (which everyone criticizes the Rider broadcasts for) who is allowed/encouraged to take pot shots at another team and their media. I prefer the approach to be “WWBID” (what would Bob Irving do?)
  20. Google lists 14 bowling lanes in Winnipeg, including 5 ten pin spots.
  21. Unfortunate that Taylor had difficulties on his way out. However I’m not sure if a Twitter war is the best medium to air his dirty laundry, especially as a public figure who will likely have to have a broadcasting relationship with another team’s PBP guy when the teams meet.
  22. One person’s terrorist is another person’s freedom fighter.
