  1. Considering who we gave up, and the salary dump, we are still ahead. Poblah wasn't even a decent backup.
  2. We've been on the receiving end of too many fast shuffles between other teams (ie: Reilly, Collaros, Ray etc) to play nice. The other teams can go pleasure themselves. That's all well and good except for one thing ... we have first year Canadians on our practice roster too. If what another team has on their practice roster is significantly better than what we have, I say go for it. We've been eating dirt for too long- nice guys and all that.

  4. Don't think that will happen, tone is set. Mike O'Shea expects to make the playoffs and compete for the Grey Cup. Tim 'dear in the headlights' Burke, well, I would dare to say #1 in all time loser coaches for us, even ahead of Kelly and Reinbold, as at least those two took charge. Burke didn't take charge and set us up for failure. I think O'Shea, by years end, will be a front runner for coach of the year. I would tend to agree that Burke was the worst head coach I have ever seen this team employ. Now obviously there's a lot of years I wasn't around to see, but we've had some bad ones in the last 30 years and Burke was as bad or worse than all of them. Never have I seen a team fold at the first sign of adversity like last years team did and that all comes back on the guy who is supposed to lead this team. Actually, it comes back to the smarts of the man who thought Burke was the answer to replace LaPolice. And that includes some of those here who thought the same. Ouch.
  5. Considering how little we used a running back as a receiver in the past few years, his hands of stone shouldn't be a big deal- as long as he hasn't contracted fumblitis.
  6. I hope you are right, because Kuale has shown very little in pre-season and the linebacking this year sure looks iffy.
  7. I vote to judge the man on his own merits instead of those of his sperm donor.
  8. God knows the BB staff ought to know what they are doing, but the wisdom of essentially benching our best holdover linebacker from last year escapes me. Wild wasn't just just the best holdover, he was very good. I hope this move is clarified because this plus the lack of upgrading our NI talent through waivers is beginning to concern me.
  9. I am having difficulty believing that our talent is so good that we are not looking at the cuts of other teams to at least challenge the incumbents.
  10. Smith looked very good last year, but maybe all the changes has set him back a bit. Given Popp's record of finding talent, I wouldn't write Smith off too soon, unless you're secretly rooting for Brink.
  11. No real surprises here- Jones seems to have lost the edge he had last year. Maybe he never got over his injury?
  12. It will very interesting to see what Collaros' and Glenn's numbers look like in couple of months compared to Willy's on an admittedly less talented team. That should tell us if Walters made the right decision or rather, if we got lucky.
  13. What about Onder and Oveur?
  14. I seem to recall that Etienne did catch a pass in the first preseason game and was on punt coverage.
  15. It all comes down to cost/benefit ratio. Had we picked up Glenn, we may have had a shot at the playoffs, but realistically, there is still a significant lack of talent here and some big question marks about the O-line. If we had paid a long dollar for Glenn and had him get knocked out in the second game, we would be really upset. The chances of the Bombers making the playoffs this year is less than 50% and we are probably playing for Glenn would be a band-aid fix at best for a steep price.
  16. Hall had every chance to separate himself from Brohm and Marve and even had a head start but it just wasn't there for him. Too bad but I hope the rest of the team understands that nobody gets a free pass.
  17. The truth is that Hall was given every opportunity to separate himself from Marve and Brohm and even challenge Willy, but it just wasn't there for him. O'Shea has shown that no one gets a pass.
  18. Looks like the real thing- doesn't get happy feet in the pocket, good and quick decision-making, good arm and not afraid to run. If he can adapt to the CFL, he could be another Dunigan. Doesn't wimp out on the running plays too much.
  19. Hickman was/is good but not so much better than what we have to make it worthwhile chasing him.
  20. We do not have the luxury of having the passing attack carry the offense until we get the running game off the ground. This team has been losing badly for so long that it will not have the emotional resiliency to bounce back if we get our butts kicked in the first few games. We need to have all guns firing to be competitive- hence the calls for Messam.
  21. Any port in a storm. Or, if you're in university: any sport in a dorm.
  22. Please don't let it be Etienne who becomes available and gets picked up by the Bombers.
  23. Maybe he was referring to trouser snakes?
  24. As much as I believe that Marve has great potential, it comes down to Hall vs Brohm for the backup spot. Hall had the inside track, or should have had, but so far he has not shown any better than last season. Because the O-line is going to take a few games to gel, a lead-footed quarterback will be dismembered. So- do we want a QB who seems to be as good as he can get at this point or one who is at least neck and neck with his rival but has nowhere to go but up?
  25. West: Sask Calgary (dogfight with Sask) BC Winnipeg Edmonton East: Toronto Hamilton Montreal (dogfight with Hamilton) Ottawa (closer than most think)
