  1. The game was still winnable at the half but the offence had shown no indication that it was up to scoring any touchdowns. Calgary's offence essentially wore the Bomber defence out by the start of the fourth quarter, and it was not a new story.
  2. Walters has a lot less to answer for than the head coach and offensive coordinator. Walters deserves another chance to turn this thing around, but O'Shea has run his course and has been found wanting.
  3. Marve's passing was better than Tebow's in college (I think) but obviously that has not translated into the pro game- Marve was horrible, no question. Marve looked like he had clue how to play the style being asked of him, or play the game at all, for that matter,
  4. JBR (who seems to know a thing or three about OL play) was vocally unimpressed by the Picard signing. Apart from Goossen who was obviously judged as unready to start, we had no real option at center other than looking for an import. Picard was worth a shot and I still maintain that he cannot be properly assessed until the rest of the line starts playing well.
  5. Since this is serving as the game-day thread, here goes. It is probably going to be as simple as this: if Calgary can run against us, we're screwed. If we can run against Calgary, be it our RB or our QB, we win. The usual caveats apply; we cannot give up another TD from a kick return and apparently Stoudemire is on returns again, giving credence to those who see O'Shea as stubbornly clinging to what is not working, so we are not likely to see any spectacular work from him, but he cannot screw up again by fumbling or losing yards by dicking around. Marve does not have to be a world-beater, he just has to play well enough to not lose through his own actions. This edition is fragile enough with Willy at the helm but they/we need to hope that even without Willy, we have a chance at a post-season. The team knows even better than we that Brohm is inadequate and if there is no reason to believe that Marve can steer the team for the rest of the season, it would be all downhill from there.
  6. Franklin is looking like a very good QB prospect- smart, good arm and mobile. Between him and Reilly, Edmonton ought to be set for time to come.
  7. Didn't think that Hajrullahu was doing all that badly.
  8. Always so positive. That opinion tho means very little. Bombers could easily win 5 games. Seriously. They aren't gonna go 2 and 8 to end the year. Probably 8 or 9 wins is likely. .....and we start this Saturday with a win over the Stamps, no excuses. This is not the Calgary of years gone bye they can be beaten. A win over Calgary would be a great morale-builder and ought to make a sweep over the Riders a good possibility, but a loss opens the team up to all kinds of self-doubt. A lop-sided loss would be a disaster.
  9. Kudos to the Larks. A note of caution, though- often teams will play over their heads right after the coach is gassed, so lets see how they do next week. Gotta admire Montreal's really diversified offensive game plan- it made Giguere look like an all-star.
  10. Now that you know that, Angelo Mosca is obliged to kill you.
  11. Exactly, it's just time to see what he can do. THAT'S ALL. Exactly. And not two plays here and three next quarter- give him at least a full quarter to show that he belongs.
  12. Should they not be giving big props for "quarterback mangles"?
  13. Waud has been okay but not great, and the knock on Durant was "personal conduct issues" and he hasn't been tearing up the league, either. Ya puts yer money on the table and takes yer chances, and often it is just that -a game of luck with a bit of skill thrown in.
  14. If Bowman doesn't shine and gets nullified, it has to say something about Popp. If Bowman goes on a tear for the rest of the season, that says something about Higgins' judgement.
  15. No way Higgins ends up in Wpg in any role under O'Shea. Why would O'Shea hire his potential replacement? Does Mike O'Shea strike you as the kind of person who wouldn't hire someone because he's afraid they might take his job? His coordinators are both former head coaches. And neither Hall nor Bellefeuille have had success as head coaches, but Higgins' resume is much better- maybe good enough to be considered. If by some bizarre twist the Bombers get swept by the Riders, I cannot see O'Shea surviving.
  16. Well, Duressler47, if it isn't going to happen against Ottawa, you will have little reason to hope for a win this season. Scary for the Rider faithful.
  17. We are down to desperate measures, folks. Its time to see if Neufeld and Goossen have a future in this league or if our drafting and trading are crappy. I would be more optimistic if I had reason to be confident that our O-line coach was doing a good job. There are so many questions about our coaching that there is probably going to be a major overhaul there in the off-season regardless of O'Shea's future.

  19. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153382175849829&set=a.489906759828.268705.506109828&type=1 So he's in game shape...Walters get er done! Dorzon came in with great press clippings and did pretty much zero to impress anyone enough to warrant keeping him. Why should he be any better in a replay? Ah. Clicked on the link- he looks like he is where he belongs.
  20. You're all wrong. If Obama hadn't been elected even though he is a secret Muslim who was born in Kenya, the Bombers would be in first place.
  21. "Communist" China is anything but communist. China has become what Mao-Tse Tung was afraid it would become- a dictatorship run by oligarchs, much like Russia is and what America is devolving into. Harper is an unabashed fan of American economics, military policy, politics and religion, and when he took majority power he promised that when he was done we would not be able to recognize Canada, and if he manages another administration, that will probably be true. His driving philosophy is centered around his church's beliefs- that a nuclear war beginning in Jerusalem and spreading around the world is both good and inevitable as it will force Jesus to scoop up the faithful and leave the others to devastation. His former friend, Tom Flanagan and biographer in his book " Harper's Men" paints a very unflattering picture of Harper as a micro-manager obsessed with control and image, and who confided in Flanagan that Canada needed a crisis so that he (Harper) could silence any opposition. As Ralph Klein's political advisor, he counselled Klein to close the borders to the rest of Canada via economic restrictions and minimal interactions. Hardly a description of a good Prime Minister, is it?
  22. If it makes you feel any better, there is a smoke alert in Calgary and their air quality at the moment is worse than Bejing. Bad news for asthmatics and diabetics.
  23. With all the turmoil in the team and a questionable OC, it is not surprising that Cato is not doing as well as before.
  24. Is it too late to bring back Joe "suitcase" Smith? He could pick up lots of recyclable beverage containers to supplement his salary.
  25. Girls, girls, you're both pretty. Now say you're sorry and hug.
