  1. Trump and company are no longer interested in even trying to look non-corrupt. They are doomed and they know it, so they, like the PC government in Saskatchewan under Grant Devine, are governing like an army of occupation.
  2. That's a weird misuse of a phrase. Its supposed to be," walk a mile in my shoes".
  3. To state the obvious- the expansion talks for the CFL are dead in the water for the foreseeable future.
  4. As Florida COVID-19 Cases Skyrocket, State Orders All Schools To Reopen Next Month School districts must provide a full array of services for families who wish to educate their children in a brick and mortar school. Florida’s education commissioner on Monday ordered schools to reopen for in-person instruction in August, even as coronavirus cases jam hospitals in the state. According to an “emergency order” signed by Commissioner Richard Corcoran, public school districts and charter school boards must open all kindergarten through 12th-grade schools for at least five days a week. Although schools may also offer remote learning, parents must have the option to send their children to a brick and mortar school. https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/florida-schools-reopening-august-coronavirus_n_5f03df40c5b6e97b5689320b?ri18n=true
  5. Protests Reignite After New Video Shows New York Cop Kneeling on Man’s Neck Protesters gathered outside Schenectady police headquarters in New York state Monday night after a video appeared to show a city police officer kneeling on a man’s neck. The Times Union reported that the man in the video, named as 31-year-old Yugeshwar Gaindarpersaud, was detained outside his home Monday morning. In the video, a man who is reported to be Gaindarpersaud’s father can be heard yelling at the cop: “You got the foot on his head!” Schenectady police issued a statement saying that its Office of Professional Standards is investigating the incident, but did not specifically comment on the scenes recorded in the video. Police said they were called to the house as part of a neighbor dispute. “The department has been made aware of a video circulating on social media partially depicting the incident. The incident in its entirety is currently being reviewed by the Schenectady Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards,” the department said. https://www.thedailybeast.com/schenectady-police-investigate-video-showing-cop-kneeling-on-yugeshwar-gaindarpersauds-neck?ref=home
  6. Breonna Taylor’s Death Was Connected to Shady Louisville Gentrification Plan: Lawsuit Lawyers for Breonna Taylor allege the 26-year-old was targeted in a police operation to gentrify a western Louisville neighborhood across town. Breonna Taylor, a Kentucky EMT worker fatally shot in her home in March, died as a result of a politically-driven police operation “to clear out” a Louisville street to make way for a multi-million gentrification plan, a lawsuit filed by the 26-year-old’s family states. Taylor, who worked for two local hospitals, and her boyfriend were asleep in their apartment on March 13 when three officers executed a “no-knock” search warrant looking for a suspected drug dealer who lived in a different part of town. Taylor was shot eight times, spurring an FBI investigation and unleashing a wave of protests alongside the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia. “Breonna’s home should never have had police there in the first place,” an amended lawsuit filed by Taylor’s family in Jefferson Circuit Court Sunday states. “When the layers are peeled back, the origin of Breonna’s home being raided by police starts with a political need to clear out a street for a large real estate development project and finishes with a newly formed, rogue police unit violating all levels of policy, protocol, and policing standards.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/breonna-taylors-death-connected-to-gentrification-plan-in-west-louisville-lawyers-allege-in-amended-lawsuit?ref=home
  7. Its a bit late to expect sanity from Trump, his drones or Faux News.
  8. TRUMP CAMPAIGN VOWS TO DEFEND JESUS!!!! Trump campaign vows to defend famous statue of Jesus — that’s located in Brazil. President Donald Trump’s campaign is making a solemn vow to supporters that he will never allow the destruction of iconic statues located in foreign countries. The Daily Beast reports that the Trump campaign over the weekend sent out a new ad featuring a photo of the Cristo Redentor in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro and informed supporters that “WE WILL PROTECT THIS.” The Cristo Redentor is perhaps the most famous landmark in all of Brazil, but apparently no one on the Trump campaign realized that the statue was not located in the United States. (I told you this was going to be crazier and crazier)
  9. Trump Rage-Quits Fox News After Network Shows Him Trailing Joe Biden In Polls President Donald Trump said he’s done with Fox News after the network on Sunday showed him trailing former Vice President Joe Biden in the polls. Trump claimed he was leading in “real polls” but did not cite any: Trump has repeatedly claimed that 96 percent of Republicans approve of him. While he does enjoy high levels of support among members of his party, there are no recent polls that show him reaching that level. Last week, a Hill-Harris X poll found he had an 82 percent approval rating among Republicans, down from 91 percent in May. In addition to attacking Fox, Trump also urged his supporters to change the channel. Trump has repeatedly attacked news agencies for reporting on polls unfavorable to him and even sent a “cease and desist” threat to CNN last month for broadcasting a poll that showed him trailing Biden by 14 points. https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/trump-quits-fox-news_n_5f02ae8fc5b6acab28527a59?ri18n=true
  10. The Ticking Time Bomb of HIV in the COVID-Plagued South The dire situation in Mississippi—where disease surveillance for HIV has succumbed to coronavirus chaos—could send the larger region into a death spiral. Since her HIV diagnosis 24 years ago, Laurie Ann Lewis can count on one hand the number of times she’s missed her quarterly appointment for blood work. Both were this spring. For patients with the deadly virus that causes AIDS, regular blood draws are the only way to make sure their medication is keeping their viral loads in check. But as cases of another infectious disease, COVID-19, surged earlier this year, Lewis’s doctor told her to stop coming in. Labs had become overwhelmed with coronavirus testing. Blood work for patients with HIV would have to wait. https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-ticking-time-bomb-of-hiv-in-covid-plagued-mississippi?ref=home
  11. Trump Wrongly Accuses NASCAR Driver Bubba Wallace of Noose ‘Hoax,’ Defends Confederate Flag President Donald Trump kicked off the week by slamming NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, falsely accusing him of a “hoax” after a suspected noose was found hanging in his garage at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway last month. NASCAR officials found the rope—and informed Wallace of its existence—weeks after it banned the racist Confederate flag from events. The FBI investigated and declared that the rope should not be considered a hate crime, though photos emerged showing it was clearly a noose. “Has @BubbaWallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX?” Trump tweeted Monday morning before slamming the racing organization for banning the Confederate flag. “That & Flag decision has caused lowest ratings EVER!” https://www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trump-attacks-black-nascar-driver-bubba-wallace-over-noose-hoax?ref=home
  12. We can only hope that she was smart enough to create a poison pill that if she dies, someone, somewhere will spill all the beans to the world. Her father, Robert Maxwell was apparently assassinated by Israeli agents but was not wise enough to do this.
  13. According to an American epidemiologist interviewed on CBC radio yesterday, there are a lot of netbots promoting that Covid-19 is a fake and that masks do nothing or even cause illnesses as part of a subjugation program being conducted by unnamed powerful people. The source(s) of these netbots is/are unknown but apparently they are sophisticated in design and are sending out thousands of messages out on Tiktok, Facebook and other social messaging sites. This would be consistent with Russian efforts to demoralize and destabilize western societies.
  14. Coronavirus Is Airborne and WHO Should Update Its Guidance, Scientists Say A group of 239 scientists from 32 countries is calling on the World Health Organization in an open letter to revise its guidance on the novel coronavirus to state that it is an airborne virus. The WHO currently states in its guidance that airborne transmission of the coronavirus can only occur after medical procedures that produce aerosols and that it is mainly spread by large respiratory droplets. The scientists’ open letter is set to be published in a scientific journal next week. Scientists stated that the virus has spread more readily indoors and during superspreader events, which is expected behavior of airborne viruses. The WHO has disagreed with scientific consensus at other points during the coronavirus pandemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has long held that asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 is common, while the WHO still holds that it is a rare phenomenon. https://www.thedailybeast.com/coronavirus-is-airborne-and-the-world-health-organization-should-update-its-guidance-scientists-say?ref=home
  15. The issue was important enough to warrant a degree of risk, and there was a significant amount of masks present.
  16. I do not think that we have as high a percentage of covidiots as in the US, nor are we generally as militant. Thank God.
  17. I seem to recall that no Bomber went after Phillion for that outrageous durty hit, and that I screamed at the TV so loud that my wife thought I had hurt myself badly. The hit was bad enough but the lack of response from the Bombers was worse.
  18. As someone who has worked in the field, I still am saddened and stunned at how someone so young can harbour so much anger and hatred.
  19. For those who are not aware, Columbus was a genocidal lunatic who was so brutal that the pope was appalled and recalled him, and remember that the standards for tolerating the killings of unbelievers were a lot more lax in theose days. However, Americans revere him and will probably continue to do so in the face of all evidence.
  20. Trump Blames China For COVID-19 Spread At Crowded Independence Day Celebration The president, who was not wearing a mask, claimed without evidence that 99% of U.S. coronavirus cases are "totally harmless" at the National Mall event. Continuing to ignore the advice of scientists and public health experts who’ve urged Americans to remain socially distanced as COVID-19 cases continue to surge nationwide, President Donald Trump hosted a crowded Independence Day celebration at the National Mall in Washington on Saturday night. Trump, who did not wear a mask despite evidence that facial coverings can help to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, blamed China and its “secrecy, deceptions and cover-up” for the global spread of COVID-19. China must be held “fully accountable,” he said, adding without evidence that the U.S. would have a treatment or a vaccine for the virus “long before the end of the year.” https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/trump-independence-day-national-mall-event-coronavirus_n_5f010599c5b612083c5d48ae?ri18n=true
  21. Bill Barr is now targeting "anti-government extremists" OK, the Law & Order hunt Is now officially on. It’s not clear who that is exactly — but it means the Justice Department won’t be doing anything important. Atty. Gen. William P. Barr has directed the formation of an interagency task force dedicated to countering "anti-government extremists" from a variety of viewpoints who agree on nothing else but challenging the public order. https://www.salon.com/2020/07/03/bill-barr-is-now-targeting-anti-government-extremists_partner/
  22. Trump official spins out-of-control anti-China conspiracy theory Trump White House Trade advisor Peter Navarro used the long Independence Day weekend to spin a fantastical conspiracy theory that directly blames China for creating the deadly coronavirus, then sending “hundreds of thousands” of its people to the U.S. to infect and ultimately kill Americans. “It is the Chinese Communist Party that is making us stay locked in our homes and lose our jobs,” Navarro, the author of the 2011 book, Death by China, told MSNBC’s Ali Velshi Friday afternoon. “They spawned the virus. They hid the virus. They sent hundreds of thousands of Chinese nationals over here to seed and spread the virus before we knew,” he continued, refusing to respond to Velshi’s questions. “So, ah, the dateline is November. They spawned the virus, probably came out of the biological lab. For two months, they hid the virus from the world and the possibility of a pandemic, behind the shield of the World ‘Health’ Organization. While they did that, they vacuumed up the world’s protective equipment, including two billion masks, and,” said Navarro, plowing through Velshi who repeatedly asked if China did this deliberately. “Here’s the point. While they were preventing any domestic travels from Wuhan to Beijing or Shanghai, locking down their transportation network, they freely sent hundreds of thousands of Chinese nationals on aircraft to go around the world.” https://www.alternet.org/2020/07/trump-official-spins-out-of-control-anti-china-conspiracy-theory/ (I sure looks like Trump is setting the stage for a de facto coup when he loses the coming election)
  23. CNBC founder claims Trump has a specific plan to stay in office no matter what the voters say Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” with hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, the founder of CNBC walked viewers through a scenario where Donald Trump would attempt to remain president even if he is rejected by the voters in November. Speaking with hosts, Tom Rogers along with co-author former Senator Tim Wirth (D-CO) explained the central point of their piece in Newsweek that proposes: “How Trump Could Lose the Election– and Still Remain President.” According to Rogers, who began by saying his scenario was “not farfetched” he believes Trump has no chance of winning the election and will do anything to remain in office. “This is how it happens, Biden wins,” he began. “I don’t just mean the popular vote, he wins the key swing states, he wins the electoral college. President Trump says there’s been Chinese interference in the election. He’s been talking about Biden’s soft on China — China wanted Biden to win so he says a national emergency; the Chinese have intervened in the election.” “Why do I think that’s real?” he continued. “Just ten days ago he tweeted, he actually tweeted, ‘rigged 2020 election,’ millions of mail-in ballots will be printed by foreign countries it will be the scandal of our times. so he’s laying the groundwork for this. So he does an investigation and [Attorney General Bill] Barr backs this up with all kinds of legal opinions about emergency powers that the president has.” https://www.alternet.org/2020/07/cnbc-founder-claims-trump-has-a-specific-plan-to-stay-in-office-no-matter-what-the-voters-say/
  24. US military confirms ‘horrendous’ decision to issue bayonets to troops responding to George Floyd protests “Are they supposed to stab protesters?” That was Rep. Ted Lieu’s (D-Calif.) response Thursday to a letter by the highest-ranking military officer in the United States confirming that bayonets were issued to some of the troops deployed to the nation’s capital last month as part of the Trump administration’s effort to crack down on demonstrators protesting the police killing of George Floyd. Faced with questions from Lieu and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.), Joint Chiefs Chairman Army Gen. Mark Milley admitted that members of the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division from Fort Bragg, North Carolina and the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment were given bayonets for their June 2 deployment to Washington, D.C. https://www.alternet.org/2020/07/us-military-confirms-horrendous-decision-to-issue-bayonets-to-troops-responding-to-george-floyd-protests/
