  1. HAHAHA....Oh yes I forgot....but I bet I could do a bang up job...though am rather busy at the moment
  2. highly doubt it this late in the off-season...why would we allow our OC to leave now?..maybe for next year, but only an idiot GM would give permission...and understandably so and nobody would say that Walters would be stalling lapo's career....other than most on Ridersfans...wouldn't you agree?...makes no sense...and not like Lapo is working for chump change here either
  3. With the issues at home with Trestmans wife's health and what not...I doubt he want to jump right into another stressful coaching position...he probably will take a gig that will re-confirm his status...not one that might further damage it
  4. and piss poor SMS management where you basically stripped down your offence of the previous years play makers to pay for assets on defense and create a very unbalanced squad
  5. Doubt that Lapo would want to go there with all the uncertainty..at least this year, and I doubt even more that we would allow the Riders to even talk to him at this juncture of the season..with draft coming up...coaching rosters set, and being close to camp...and having to re-install a new coordinator...and especially the fact that the Riders may have slim pickings at best for a QB solution...why would a guy want to drop into that mess mid-stream and basically set himself up for failure?..only an idiot would allow a coach to leave now...and only an idiot who is established with a good gig for 2019 would want that....and only an idiot would give a guy (jones) all the hats he wore with his proven track record of being all for him and leaving organizations the way he has
  6. SURE...but the dollar value would go against the cap if they canned them...so no point in that...they will be very limited in their staff for this year...to go along with the limited QB availability for them...and to think...earlier today they were predicting a 3 win season for us next year as an efect of the Bighill signing....now ain't that a funny dose of karma
  7. he held 2 positions..and you can only have 11 coaches...so the new guy has to be a HC.DC or they hire from withing and promote someone to HC and have to find a DC
  8. cue the whining out there now due to the coaching cap....a cap mind you that all teams have to abide by....but the blues will be cried out there at how they are getting screwed over...perhaps they should be beating down the door of Mosaic and addressing the remaiing management there at the stupidity of handing one guy all the keys to the jallopy...therin lies half the issues there...one guy..accountable to nobody but himself
  9. yes..they have very nice facilities for the players...
  10. Actually...Edmonton's facilities and training/therapy/players amenities/locker room are top notch world class and actually are better than many NFL teams and rival some of the top notch ones...so that statement is totally false on the Edmonton aspect. Mosaic is sure shinier and newer, but not heads and shoulders above Edmonton...Winnipeg and B.C..Whom also have top notch player amenities..
  11. well for sure that connection would easily had a hand in getting him the outside of football gig...but by no means is any of the Altus job salary being part of his CFL salary to cheat the cap..it is above and beyond that....but it is an excellent negotiating angle to use/have in allowing a player to know he has a guaranteed job/income once the season is over if he signs here...same thing with CGY for years having some guys playing on cheap contracts..BLM for one comes to mind...there is no law or rule saying a person can't hold down 2 paying gigs at the same time unrelated to each other...more power to your organization in the CFL if you can achieve that luxury...
  12. you're pretty offbase on this one...teams for years have secured off-season and in season jobs for players. It is not "part" of their CFL contract, its above and beyond that and totally unrelated.
  13. that's in no way circumventing the cap...it's an off-season job, and smart thing to to include in the presser, as it shows potential free-agents that there is opportunity for off-season and or post career work in Winnipeg as it is a large city with major companies who have work potential...unlike a pisshole in the ground place like Regina where there is apparently zippo
  14. wow....I would never have figured for 3....but then again....it's the power of the organization...regime...locker room and Oshea...well done...this is huge moving into February as well as we now know what we have to play with in free agency for the likes of JSK..possibly a DB and a receiver
  15. Lucky for you guys....lol
  16. YEAH that is kinda funny...from what I know/hear..players can't get out of there fast enough when the season is over...or during a by week. I actually think Winnipeg probably has to, or is close to be the city with the most post/carer players who stick around..American and Canadian...or it sure appears that way
  17. some will I think....with a caveat written in their contract that what ever percent the CBA increases...so shall their deal to a certain degree...
  18. I would say Reilly and BLM (if he doesnt go NFL ) are 1a and 1b..take your pick...4 teams in the west need a legit #1 guy this year...and really...these are the only 2 legit #1's out there...Harris will re-sign in Ottawa so I don't even include him...and if he doesn't sign there and does out west..then Ottawa then becomes a player for the aforementioned 1a and 1b
  19. you have to remeber as well...both sides have already most likely have several scenarios and offer/counter offers already approved by their respective sides..so it's not like when actual sit down talks start that they are starting from nothing...once initiated pretty certain it will move along fairly quick
  20. save for a guy or two we "might " lose to the NFL..I have a pretty good feeling we will be able to sign the free agents of ours that we want to sign...and also have an ace in the hole over the rest of our Western counterparts as we already know where our QB SMS money is allocated for 2019...so we can target certain guys at certain price points knowing it fits our budget, whereas the uncertainty of what QB's will be actually available come free agency and 3-4 teams fighting for them with price obviously being driven up to unknown numbers..will make it hard for some teams to go after other assets they need aggressively as they can't hamstring themselves...so shall be an interesting next couple months
  21. thing is..all teams are in this boat, and actually it most likely will work in the teams favor as there will be a few big ticket guys who will get their bank...but there is only so much SMS money to go around on all teams and when the dust settles after the frenzy of the big contracts, some guys better just accept the first fair offer they get because they may have to end up playing for the same, or somewhat less than they did the previous year...there will be a lot of the second tier free agents signed to very team friendly deals this year..regardless of the cap increase
  22. YEAH...totally agree..I think he re-signed for like 80..or 90k..pretty good value for a guy who kills it on teams...can long snap...and start and be very effective..also...a ultimate team guy and leader in the club house and a longer tenured veteran here...if he wants to come back on same type of deal...you take him back...Christ he is only 29 for the upcoming season so not like he an old fart...and probably one of the better conditioned guys in the league
  23. Wild played for cheap last year...and Opo also restructured his deal to a lesser amount...and yes..both are off the books as of now as their deals are done
  24. SUCKS to see character gys and true pro's as well as great ballers have to be released, but so is the business and game that top teams need to do this, and once the worth is less than the value you are getting, decisions have to be made. He will definitely catch on somewhere and kudos to the Bombers for allowing him more time to do this before free agency. Hopefully this is the evolution of our management team as well in being more Wallyesque and making the decisions as a players best before has started to show, as opposed to before where we held on far too long..wasting valuable SMS money that could be re-allocated elsewhere. Cornerback is the easiest of the linebacking/defensive back spots to fill in the CFL with American talent as the learning curve is pretty much nil, so not too worried about us covering that position with a cheaper option and using the extra money we would have payed to Randle toward a JSK/Biggie/Jeffcoat
  25. Loses that Calgary sustained so far..Duke..Williams Lambert and QB uncertainty for pretty much all West teams but Winnipeg, is so far shaping up to make the west wide open and if we can retain JSK..Biggie and land a receiver has to put us as front runners
