  1. I watched the condensed game ... Islanders, I think Connor was outplayed by the other goalie... the Islander goalie made some remarkable saves. the Jets had two or three close in chances that he made outstanding saves on.
  2. On Thursday, Florida Power and Light (FPL) announced that it would retire two natural gas plants and replace those plants with what is likely to be the world's largest solar-powered battery bank when it's completed in 2021. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2019/03/florida-utility-to-close-natural-gas-plants-build-massive-solar-powered-battery/?comments=1 Thanks to Elon Musk for his guarantee to Australia a year or two ago about his battery storage: "Tesla’s Australia battery project is garnering global recognition and forcing companies to rethink the traditional energy power plants structure. The Tesla 100MW/129MWh powerpack project in South Australia proved to pay some dividends or at the very least save tens of millions of dollars according to a recent report, again delivering on a promise made by the eccentric founder Elon Musk." article about Musks battery in Australia: good article: https://interestingengineering.com/tesla-battery-installed-in-south-australia-saved-the-region-40-million-in-its-first-year rewnewable will win: cheaper, more reliable, and reduces emissions of greenhouse gas.
  3. There was no pause or hiatus. The science is gold standard. To say otherwise is nonsense. https://insideclimatenews.org/news/18122018/global-warming-hiatus-pause-never-happened-studies-explain-climate-change-risbey-oreskes-mann
  4. TSN had Mackenzie on this morning, he made sense, he said that a number of teams are having the same kind of season, up and down, as the Jets. He mentioned some teams, forget the names. Season is too long. back to back games, four games in six nights, the travel, has to be part of it.
  5. I blocked that person, but it's still worth refuting his posts. Pretty easy to do that, but it gets tiresome. he doesn't read past the headline of his own links.
  6. Jekyl and Hyde team. Now radio tellling me how great the Islanders are.
  7. I used to think there wasn't a lot of difference between R and D in the US. I was wrong. The Republicans, at this point, are vermin. Here's hoping they get completely, permanently wiped off the electoral map, and slink off to their lobbying payoffs for good. Good to finally see some anger and backbone from a Democrat. Maybe the courageous and honourable Ocasio Cortez is inspiring them to finally stand up for their country. No question, that's what this is about. I can't believe there are people posting here that see some good in Trump. What the ****.
  8. sickening and also hypocritical https://www.sfgate.com/opinion/brinkley/article/Afghanistan-s-dirty-little-secret-3176762.php also, https://www.neonmag.fr/bacha-bazi-la-sale-coutume-de-la-police-afghane-fait-la-joie-des-talibans-474992.html "Fighting for freedom (to rape children.)"
  9. There are other countries that permit, and have carried out death sentence for homosexuality. Just checked.... wikipedia thirteen countries (or parts of them) impose the death penalty for "Same-sex sexual acts". These countries comprise 6% of the countries in the United Nations. Of these thirteen countries, four are in Africa: Sudan, Nigeria, Somalia, and Mauritania. Nine are in Asia: Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar, UAE, Iraq, and Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) territories. None are in the Americas, Europe, or Oceania. (and carry it out) fundamentalism at work.
  10. https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/intelligence-report/2011/inside-dhs-former-top-analyst-says-agency-bowed-political-pressure Of course the report was accurate. "Withdrawan" by Obama. Obama could always be counted on to back down, when the going got a bit tough. Republicans are much tougher and more determined /nasty than the Democrats.
  11. Why isn't this a big deal? What weapons do they have? Trump goes silent. business insider
  12. China moves aggressively into renewable energy. https://www.asiatimes.com/2019/03/article/beijing-wants-100000-hydrogen-cars-by-2025/ Aftermath of record setting snow storm .....record setting Nebraska flooding:
  13. If you're a republican, you can wear a diaper, screw a hooker down in Brazil, while supposedly happily married, and you're still good. Just need to say a few prayers. The only thing that they can't tolerate, is being gay. that'll get you kicked right out. Like the "wide stance in the washroom cubicle guy" ..... he's gone.
  14. Do or die is right about Barr..... https://www.npr.org/2019/01/14/684553791/william-barr-supported-pardons-in-an-earlier-d-c-witch-hunt-iran-contra Saint Ronald Reagan: whatever the **** that means.
  15. Maybe with this, apple will shake the networks out of their apathy.
  16. I would say that alone is being behind it. NFL is using people like Rod Woodson,Terrell Davis to cover the games. Gives the league credibility. CFL fans are always excited when our league gets shown and watched in the US. I just can't see it being a threat to the CFL.
  17. I don't think it will hurt the CFL. There are too many good players coming out of US college, that don't get to play in the NFL, to result in a shortage of players.
  18. Thought the game was quite good.... didn't see manziel play but the first qb was throwing nice accurate passes. both team qb looked good. Noticed L'Damien Washington was on one of the teams. Seems like the defences are much better than offences. I don't understand why people here are deriding it, and hoping it fails. It represents another chance for players to play, and maybe get another NFL chance. For me it's a chance to watch football. This league has the NFL behind it, and to that league, it costs very little... I'd say it will last.
  19. Yes. all of these things were known decades ago, and well within the time needed to do something about it, with much less disruption. Now we have about 12 years.

  21. Nearly six months after Hurricane Michael slammed into the Florida panhandle, many people living there are still trying to put their lives back together. The Category 4 storm made landfall last October, killing 43 people. It caused more than $6 billion of damage. Parts of the panhandle look like the hurricane hit just yesterday, reports CBS News' Manuel Bojorquez. Some people have not been able to start rebuilding, others simply left. With an estimated 40,000 homes either damaged or destroyed here, the most critical need is housing. Shelly Summers isn't just cooking for her family -- she feeds 17 men, women and children who live in her backyard, a tent city for those who have nowhere else to go. "They lost their homes and they needed a sense of security and a sense of belonging. That was the biggest thing for me," Summers said. The hurricane left Lori Hogan and her husband Gino homeless. They were staying in a hotel for a little while but when the money finally ran out, they found a new shelter in Summers' backyard. They said they don't know where'd they be if it wasn't for her. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hurricane-michael-six-months-later-people-are-still-living-in-tents/ article about the hurricane itself. https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/Potentially-Catastrophic-Hurricane-Michael-Nearing-Landfall-Florida-Panhandle
