  1. Jets ran out of gas last season. I think some of them might be pacing themselves a bit, so that doesn't happen. Effort will go up when playoffs start. maybe.
  2. Little girl sounds like yackee duck. "When did you first lfind out?" "that he is a duck?" Great video. thanks
  3. Off topic, but Nixon for example was much worse. He attempted to stall peace talks to end the Vietnam war, to help himself get elected. That's about as vile as it gets.
  4. Trump Whitehouse staff and Fox news staff are interchangeable; Trump gets his information from Fox. He relies on it instead of NSA, Dpt of Labour, Pentagon, EPA, FBI, and so on, all of whom he thinks are know nothings. He might not be the worst President in history, but he's certainly the stupidest. By a large margin.
  5. "Almost 8 in 10 Republicans who watch Fox News say Donald Trump is the most successful president in history.😂 That was just one finding of a new poll showing the deep ideological divide between Fox News viewers and everyone else. The poll results were provided to The Daily Beast by Navigator, a project launched by Democratic groups Global Strategy Group and GBA strategies. They surveyed more than 1,000 registered voters online with the goal of examining the differences in views between Fox News viewers and non-Fox viewers. Thursday’s survey shows why many in the Democratic party have largely written off the network’s viewers as a lost cause. The survey’s authors argue that the network presents an “alternate reality” in American politics, and plays an “outsized role in the way many experience and form opinions on the most important issues facing the country.” The data show numerous ways in which Fox News-watching Republicans have radically different beliefs from non-Republicans and even Republicans who do not watch Fox News." daily beast Edit: "Republicans who don’t watch Fox News, for example, are over twice as likely to believe climate change is man-made, compared to just 12 percent of Republicans who watch Fox News."
  6. Kim is playing "turkey in the straw " Meanwhile, Iran, which has no nuclear weapons, and does not want them, is massively sanctioned. Which if anything, might push them into getting nuclear weapons. NOBEL! NOBEL!
  7. yes, after being repeatedly slapped on the face by nature, eventually most people don't need anyone to tell them what's happening. They can figure it out themselves. Also, I read about renewable energy a fair bit. It really is rapidly growing, in the USA, notwithstanding the efforts of the Trumps and others like him. And whatever they think about climate change, people like to have a job. https://www.nrdc.org/experts/lara-ettenson/us-clean-energy-jobs-surpass-fossil-fuel-employment
  8. Temperatures surged above 70 degrees in Alaska and northern Canada this week. All-time March records were shattered in these northern latitudes. Seattle nearly hit 80 degrees, their warmest day anytime from November through March. The warmth extended into western and northern Canada in places you'd usually expect to be ice- or snow-covered in late March. Yohin Lake, less than 400 miles from the Arctic Circle in the Northwest Territories, soared to 21.8 degrees Celsius (about 71 degrees Fahrenheit) Tuesday, the first time on record a location in the Northwest Territories warmed to at least 20 degrees Celsius. Neither Denver, nor Kansas City, had yet to reach 70 degrees in 2019. This was just one of 10 locations in northwest Canada smashing new March records, according to Patrick Duplessis, a doctoral candidate at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. https://weather.com/news/weather/news/2019-03-20-march-record-warmth-alaska-canada-seattle and NASA Decades of NASA data show the Earth is warming. According to NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies in Manhattan, the Earth has warmed about 1.44 degrees Fahrenheit during the last 40 years. But the poles are warming even faster; the Arctic has warmed by more than 3.5 degrees Fahrenheit during the same time period. https://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/warmingpoles.html Scientific American: An Arizona utility said last week it plans to install more (battery) energy storage in the next six years than had been built in all of the United States prior to 2018. The announcement by Arizona Public Service Co. represents a breakthrough moment for the storage industry. While utility-scale storage announcements have been building in size and frequency, none of them matches the 850 megawatts proposed by the Phoenix-based company. It also heralds a shift for APS. Last year, state regulators rejected the utility’s long-term power plans, saying they called for too much new natural gas. Company officials now say batteries are the cheapest way to meet peak demand traditionally served by natural gas peaking units scientific American. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/an-arizona-utility-is-betting-big-on-energy-storage/
  9. "Since 1986, The Carter Center has led the international campaign to eradicate Guinea worm disease, working closely with ministries of health and local communities, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and many others. Guinea worm disease is set to become the second human disease in history, after smallpox, to be eradicated. It will be the first parasitic disease to be eradicated and the first disease to be eradicated without the use of a vaccine or medicine." (Jimmy) Carter centre. The Carter Center, in partnership with Emory University, is guided by a fundamental commitment to human rights and the alleviation of human suffering. It seeks to prevent and resolve conflicts, enhance freedom and democracy, and improve health. A Religious man/woman (Mrs. Carter) who actually follow the real teachings of their faith, without fanfare or gain.
  10. "In December 2010 it was reported that the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control had approved nearly 10,000 exceptions to U.S. sanctions rules worldwide over the preceding decade by issuing special licenses for American companies. https://www.producer.com/2019/03/latest-china-canola-controversy-not-easy-to-fix/ We are in a tough spot, I don't know what our solution is, but much of the world is finally starting to stand up to America thinking it owns the planet.
  11. Worth reading, Trump speech slamming McCain. "The audience, which had applauded and cheered through much of the speech, sat virtually silent during the attack on the late senator and decorated war hero." https://news.yahoo.com/trump-attacks-on-mc-cain-bomb-at-tank-factory-203505733.html America losing influence https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-03-19/trump-blockade-of-huawei-fizzles-in-european-5g-rollout Canada should release the Huawei executive.
  12. **** Dale..... inventor of surf guitar passed away this week.
  13. some from the first woodstock.... santana, probably the dead, maybe melanie, Robert Plant. Canned Heat, wonder how many are still alive.
  14. In 1852, when California was just two years old, Thompson began working for Thomas Knott, who owned a store in Placerville. While working in the store, Knott offered Thompson $2 to take mail and messages to his sawmill in Genoa, 90 miles to the east over the snow-covered Sierra Nevada. Instead of using snowshoes, Thompson built 10-foot cross country skis that weighed 25 pounds to traverse the dangerous terrain. They were the first skis anyone had ever seen in the region and, just like that, skiing in Northern California was born. Later in 1855, Thompson read an article in the Sacramento Union titled People Lost to the World: Uncle Sam Needs Carrier. Past mail carriers had difficulty traversing the snowy mountains and “Uncle Sam” was offering a lucrative contract of $14,000 a year for anyone to take the job. It took a specific specimen to be able to accomplish the task. At six feet, 185 pounds, the sturdy Thompson was able to carry the 100 pound load of mail and ore while simultaneously controlling his massive skis. https://activenorcal.com/the-legend-of-snowshoe-thompson-the-founder-of-california-skiing/?fbclid=IwAR1IG2WVSvz6bAP8OQl1G8CuGlLPh4s_-sPQRVFxiC3LUOpP1UiL0nxG9xM stayed at it for twenty years.
  15. It really is amazing, and how quickly a person can be come inured to the goings on in the US under Trump and his helpers. At least maybe the blinkers will be removed for some of the people that still think America is the moral leader of the world. Edit just saw another poll half of people surveyed think Mueller inquiry is a "witch hunt" Repeat a lie often enough..... etc.
  16. Trump approval rating two days ago CNN..... 42%.
  17. reminds me of my 400 pound 6 foot tall brother in law drinking diet coke.
  18. (not counter to the point at all. I didn't intend "no discussion" when I posted it.) For groceries I have been using reusable bags which most grocery stores sell (they're cheap, and quite sturdy). Many people use them now. Lee Valley tools requires you to bring a bag.... they won't provide a bag. example of why this needs to be done: Surely very minor human inconveniences do not overrule the well being of every other creature on this planet.

  21. https://www.ecowatch.com/renewable-energy-coal-politics-2629963814.html Renewable energy sources will be the world’s main source of power within two decades and are establishing a foothold in the global energy system faster than any fuel in history, according to BP. The UK-based oil company said wind, solar and other renewables will account for about 30% of the world’s electricity supplies by 2040, up from 25% in BP’s 2040 estimates last year, and about 10% today. In regions such as Europe, the figure will be as high as 50% by 2040. The speed of growth was without parallel, the company said in its annual energy outlook.
  22. Governor Janet Mills announced that Maine has joined the United States Climate Alliance, a bipartisan coalition of 21 states committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement. https://www.maine.gov/governor/mills/news/governor-mills-announces-maine-has-joined-bipartisan-us-climate-alliance-2019-02-28
  23. Your information is wrong. Your scientists found that the warming was due to the sun. The sun has been at solar minimum, and yet the planet continues to heat. No wonder he couldn't get published, and used fake identity. skeptic favourite Watt: Yet the planet is hotter every year, and each year sets new records. (Of course Watt predicted global cooling) also also..... NASA research has shown that Hurricanes are increasing in intensity and developing more rapidly as predicted through climate change. The hurricane that hit the Florida panhandle went from a one to a five in something like 24 hours, at a location close to shore. The entire area of Panama beach was levelled. We corrected this earlier last year, when it was wrongly posted by pigeye. So we spend all our time correcting things posted by the people who never respond to anything, and arguing about "what's fair and reasonable" when they have no intention of being either. You should have noticed that these people NEVER respond directly to a question put to them about their sources. Or maybe you are new to this thread. anyway, carry on. I'm out here for a while.
