  1. He actually was a tight end in college then converted to guard on the line. I'm pretty sure he converted to tackle, not guard. Tackle is where I'd like to see him too. Knapp did not show well at RT last year...
  2. Could be some nice talent out there... Just looked at the Ticats Depth Chart - Reinders their 3rd string RG with Wojt not listed (not sure if he will bump Reinders or is on the bubble himself...) TIcats should also have a decent backup NI DT coming up - maybe Gascon-Nadon or Fortin? Not sure if Aprile would come back, but it would be nice to see him here for depth A bit depressing seeing both Plesius and Rockhill with a chance to start... but such is life.
  3. What's the scoop on Sears? I don't remember him getting injured Like seeing Neufeld at RT Surprised that Kemp is not higher, same with BJohnson
  4. Braxton Miller will get a lot of NFL looks. Stephen Morris, we could do better. As for Jordan Lynch, his only problem as a QB is throwing a football, no big deal. I think both Lynch and Morris suffered from being forced to be NFL-style pocket passers. Miller 'might' fall off the radar... I would sign Morris just for his nickname, 'Tin Cup'... but that's just me. I'm guessing you haven't seen Northern Illinois and Jordan Lynch play. He's not a quarterback, he's a running back who throws sometimes. He definitely wasn't "forced to be a NFL-style pocket passer." Doesn't really matter how good of a scrambler or runner a guy is, if he can't consistently make throws from the pocket he can't be an effective pro QB. The easiest thing for a defense to stop is a running QB who can't pass. What I'm trying to say is that their draft value suffered because they will not fit in the NFL pocket passer mould... and I'm okay with a 23 year old RB that passes sometimes. I still think Trestman sees something there even if he's listed at RB. If he sticks, being around Trestman is nothing but a good thing. The guys I suggest aren't the best talents out there, they are just the guys that I think won't make it in the NFL and could work in the CFL. I'd like these guys on our neg list that's all.
  5. Chicago... but he's pretty far down the depth chart.
  6. Great explanation, Rids. Nice thread. And I still want to see Doc Cassama in Blue and Gold one day.
  7. I'm no Mack fan... but I think Robertson's knee injury had more to do with this than bad scouting by Mack.
  8. Same with Etienne. The thing is, they both did virtually nothing in our jerseys so they wasted 2 roster spots. To me, that's what counts. Not what they do elsewhere. Agreed to a point. That being said with them being in legit CFL offences now (though Poblah more than Etienne) I fully expect them to perform better. It's also why I was 50/50 on the trade (and still am, especially after Monday's game) that brought in Banks from B.C. as we also have a legit CFL offence now and gave up a NI for an aging import in search of one last big contract extension who frankly didn't earn it based on last year's play. Korey Banks fits into The Etch defense better than you may expect. I don't think that's the case at all, I think the guy really just cared about how good of an athlete a guy was and nothing else really mattered. If a guy is big and strong and fast Mack was a fan and expected the coaches to turn them into players. Went for more than just draft picks too. I'd agree with that. A little of the Al Davis School of Drafting. For what it's worth Ty Pencer ran a 4.62 40 while a Sr. in high school which did a lot in the way of getting him that scholarship to Washington State. He was originally recruited as a DT and flipped to OT during his redshirt year. As a redshirt-freshman he was made starter at LT halfway through the season. The Cougars had two Canadians starting on their OL at one point with Joe Eppele starting at RT. The reason why Edmonton got Laurent with a 2nd round pick in the supplemental was because Winnipeg used their 1st on Poblah. Edmonton offered a 2nd round on Poblah forcing the Bombers to use their 1st. Either way a 1st and 2nd were going for those two individuals it just depended on who went where. I thought Tillman had pretty much scouted Laurent on his own - no one seemed to have heard of him before the Supplemental...?
  9. I think Mr. Lynch is happy with his current playing situation. Won't argue there... also don't think his current playing situation lasts very long. Lynch will end up in the CFL one way or the other... just my opinion.
  11. Disagree. This is more or less arguing for the sake of arguing b/c I don't think either will happen, but Willy has already been declared our starter. Hall hasn't been given any assurances that he'll be the backup. We gave something up to get Brohm, so there are clearly people in important positions who think highly of him. People in important positions think highly of all the qbs we have. You can disagree with me all you like but my statement is absolutely true. Some people just have this hate on for Max Hall and can't see what's really going on here. We're not rolling into the season with a guy who has never played any meaningful CFL football backing up a quarterback with extremely limited starts. Technically, Max Hall has not played any meaningful CFL football either.
  12. For the record, I think Braxton Miller, Jordan Lynch and Stephen Morris are probably excellent swimmers. Well, maybe not Morris, but I would like to see these guys on our neg list.
  13. Ah, the old 'over-blown reaction' post... in the last years, TO found Collaros, Cal found BLM, BC developed Mike Reilly... these guys do exist. For the record, I think WIlly has a strong arm and brains, accuracy will come. Marve has all three from what I can see. Brohm has strength and Hall has 'accuracy'... alone its not enough. The old "overblown reaction post"? Let's see, you opened with: because for some reason only you have the clarity of vision to think that better quarterbacks are better than worse quarterbacks. Uh, great. Well let's play the one up game - the Bombers should find a QB with brains, accuracy and a strong arm....and mobility. No, wait - they should get a QB with brains, accuracy, a strong arm, mobility....and experience. Nope, nope, they should get a QB with brains, accuracy, a strong arm, mobility, experience....and durability. No, no, that guy would be garbage, they should get a QB with brains, accuracy, a strong arm, mobility, experience, durability, leadership, a strong family background and early upbringing in the missionary field, a dad who was a football coach in high school, beautiful Dinwiddie eyes AND Usain Bolt-like speed. Anything less is not worthy of consideration. (you were arguing against a point that no one was making) you forget strong swimmers. I want our next QB to breed the type of winners that will make our quarterback position a spot passed down from generation to generation. anything less is unacceptable and just insulting, to be honest. You guys are right... Hall and Brohm will be fine - its just pre-season.
  14. I think Walters has overpaid so far... but that might also be part of the cost of just 'getting back in the game', Mack was pretty much a pariah among CFL GMs. So, KW gets a pass for now... JFG and Bucknor are decent pickups, really nice draft this year. Waiting to see if KW goes after other teams NI 'castoffs' in a couple weeks... this was pretty much a non-starter in the Mack regime.
  15. I'd take Chambers. Or Fabien, Stephen, Plesius, Lavoie, Capicotti, Macdougall, Laing, Hurl...
  16. A bit surprised that we haven't looked at a first team DB as our PR... Garvin is not going to last, Washington seems to have fumbled his way out of that job... maybe Unamba or Leggett...?
  17. The scouting report on Poblah before we drafted him was that he had to focus on 'his hands' more... that being said, I can't think of anyone that was really against the pick - I thought we overpaid, especially when Edm got Laurent for a second - but, at that time, I probably would have ended up offering a 1st for him too... we were desperate for receivers. Honestly, I would like to have Poblah on the roster, I thought he did well on STs and was a serviceable backup with flashes. I've said it before... if it was Taman and not Walters, that traded a former 1st round pick for a 35 year old import DB, this forum would have lit up. I guarantee that Banks would have just been cut eventually.
  18. Speaking of revisionist history.... That was Mark Cohon(?) being more of a rookie commissioner than any blame on Taman. Trading Mace and Canada for Moreno was a decent desperation trade to keep our playoff hopes alive. The CFL had no understanding of the importance of NI talent when they acted as a 'mediator'. You can't defend Mack on one hand and then throw Taman under the bus.
  19. How does Volny play into things this year? Is he pretty much a lock because he's Cdn depth or do we have options?
  20. Never mind that none of those guys have or had a particularly strong arm... but brains and accuracy oh my stars they were amazing in those aspects. What is your definition of 'a strong arm'? Flutie had a really strong arm, Ray should be considered 'strong' and Dickenson was no slouch. Strong arm does not just mean Michael Bishop or Casey Printers... Max Hall has a weak arm that is almost guaranteed to result in a couple of INTs per game... he is not even close to Dickenson or Glenn's arm strength. Nobody is asking for Ricky Ray... but I am asking for a Collaros or Mitchell.
  22. Not really, there's a pretty good difference in my mind between 4 and 8 when a team is trading down. I know you're a Mack apologist but bear with me here... The story, as we are told, is that O'B forced Mack's hand into the trade before Buono made the move. If Mack had been connected, he would have heard rumblings... as if Edm doesn't call the bombers and ask for something... At that time, we had #3, #16, #21, etc... we had the 'firepower' to move up again and get Westerman, Mack sat on his hands and was schooled by Buono.
  23. I love how its impossible for bombers fans to consider the fact that we should find a QB with brains, accuracy and a strong arm... Its actually not an 'either or' scenario.
  24. Pencer played the sack like he was an RT...
