  1. Paul Friesen ✔ @friesensunmedia Will #NHLJets rookie Ehlers play for Denmark at WJHC? “I won't start that discussion. Not a player you're relying on to win games." Maurice
  2. Sorry if this doesnt warrant its own thread but the other threads seem too focused on specific incidents. I assume there will be lots of general "ISIS" news coming... Washington (CNN)U.S. Gen. Paul Selva withstood one of the most biting rebuttals of the country's ISIS strategy Wednesday when he told lawmakers the Pentagon would not impose a no-fly zone on Syria because of possible blowback from Russia and Syria. "We have the military capacity to impose a no-fly zone. The question that we need to ask is do we have the political and policy backdrop with which to do so," Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Selva told the Senate Armed Services Committee, pointing to the threat of "direct conflict" with Syrian forces or "a miscalculation" with the Russians should they challenge the no-fly zone. Committee Chairman John McCain, an Arizona Republican, shot back: "I must say, it's one of the more embarrassing statements I've ever heard from a uniformed military officer, that we are worried about Syria and Russia's reaction to saving the lives of thousands and thousands of Syrians who are being barrel-bombed and massacred." Defense Secretary Ashton Carter defended the argument Obama made Sunday: the ISIS strategy is working, so give it time. But even as Carter said that the U.S. is "building momentum against ISIL," also known as ISIS, he agreed with an assessment from McCain that the terrorist group hadn't been contained. That contrasts with what President Barack Obama said had been achieved against the organization last month. ***What a bonehead remark by Obama a few weeks back. Completely clueless.
  3. I think the chant at Bombers game is more of a plea to TN to buy the Bombers. ;-)
  4. So only scientists should have an opinion? There is contradictory "science". Seems even scientists dont know.
  5. You're wrong though. Demo's are trending up in age. Its the young audience they've lost.
  6. Are you suggesting no one should comment on any subjects of which they are not certified experts? That would eliminate pretty much every thread and certainly eliminate all discussion.
  7. Thats the problem. None of us (or most of us) are not scientists.
  8. Im still waiting for a reasonable response to the question of what the climate change people intend to do when the earth goes through a natural warming cycle. Giving them a free pass that humanity has caused a recent upward trend in temperature, what happens when its, you know, the SUN doing it. All this talk of how horrible it will be when the sea rises....its inevitable. Although I also assume that in 10-20 years we will be told its a new ice age. Seems to be the climate change paranoia trend. They actually taught us in school when I was a kid that it was an ice age we were entering.
  9. Actual RAW rating is 2.15, lowest since February 1997 which I believe was the time when Vince lost his mind, demanded "results or resignations" and brought in Vince Russo to book WWE. Also, here's a depressing summation. When TNA launched their "Monday Night War" against WWE in 2010, they drew 2.2 million people average with a peak of over 3m. WWE drew 5.6m. So you had 7.8m watching wrestling on Monday night. Over 60% of that audience is now gone in just a few years. WWE seemingly has no idea why as they continue to do polls and surveys asking for fan feedback. Problem is, its feedback from fans still watching.
  10. No KBF it only works one way. The AGW crowd do their work out of a deep desire to save the universe and only Take money from special interest groups because they have a shared love of the planet. Lol
  11. Wow. That's awful. Very good player PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that Pascal Dupuis will not play hockey again because of a medical condition related to blood clots. Dupuis was diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung in January 2014 and returned to the NHL this season. The 36-year-old played 18 games while taking blood thinners but experienced what the team called "several medical incidents" that required testing. Dupuis will be placed on injured reserve and continue to receive his salary through the end of his contract, which goes through next season.
  12. Interesting reaction from Lucas about seeing the new Star Wars film: Lucas was on hand at the Kennedy Center Honors where the director was being honored for his achievements in arts and culture. Lucas was asked in person when seeing the new 'Star Wars' film saying, "I think the fans are going to love it. It's very much the kind of movie they've been looking for." Lucas talked about going to the premiere for the new film saying: "I gotta go to the wedding. My ex will be there, my new wife will be there, but I’m going to have to take a very deep breath and be a good person and sit through it and just enjoy the moment, because it is what it is and it’s a conscious decision that I made.” "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is nearly upon with ten days to go until its theatrical release set for next Friday. A new TV spot has been aired in preparation for the new film showing new scenes that include actors Harrison Ford, John Boyega, and Daisy Ridley.
  13. I appreciate what you're saying. But the phrase you use saying NA fans are smarter than you think means they wouldn't accept the Omega-9 yr old girl as a legit match. Many American wrestling fans love Japanese wrestling. It's not the mainstream. But there is an audience for it here. As noted look at some very popular Indy promotions here like PWG and Chikara. Anyway....Raw last night did 3.04 million viewers, the second lowest modern number, beating only the 2.95 million of the 11/23 show. The number was down from last week partially due to the show falling off the tracks late, but also the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins game did 14.15 million viewers, a number very close to the game on 11/23, while last week's game did 10.12 million viewers. The three hours were: 8 p.m. 3.27 million viewers 9 p.m. 3.04 million viewers 10 p.m. 2.85 million viewers
  14. So receiving funds from oil does not mean the science is wrong. Oil would have an interest in this information gaining traction if it was in fact, the truth.
  15. Another win for the Cons But really it seems Liberals made a pandering promise and now aren't really going to ahem deliver. In my area we have home delivery but there is a community mail box just down the street from me so I assume some close by do not have it. My family was among the first in our area of Waverly Heights and we didn't have home delivery for awhile. Once the neighbourhood built up I bleieve the residents petitioned for it and got it.
  16. So you were unhappy with his promise to "save home mail delivery" during the election?
  17. Okay, but taking for granted that wont happen...
  18. I dont really mind the team policy about only the HC speaking to media. It makes sense from a business perspective. For the media and fans, we want to know...and we want to examine every word for hidden messages. So I understand why people dislike it. If its me, I make my coordinators available at specific times (some sort of formal pre/post game media availability) and thats it. If you trust your coordinators to coordinate, you should trust them to speak to the media. Both Hall and Lapo are perfectly able to do that.
  19. I think playing in the tournament could have a beneficial impact on him. He'd be a top level talent playing top line minutes. He'd be a "leader" on his team. Could come back with extra confidence. Not to mention the experience of playing in a meaningful tournament with all the pressure that goes with it. Let him play.
  20. The problem is the constitution has become a sacred cow. Most of the amendments date from 1789. The most recent was 1971 and most of the ones from the 20th century were essentially housekeeping amendments. There is precedent for the so-called "right to bear arms" being "subject to suitability and allowance by law". Its based on the English Bill of Rights and was meant to prevent the monarch from creating a standing militia and allowing certain religious groups to be armed and preventing others. Essentially, all or none, seems to be the thought. If everyone is armed, then no one will subjugate the other. The idea that laws could be made in the 1700's and not be open to adjustment in the 2000's is sort of silly. If amendments were really such sacred things, then prohibition would still exist. Frankly, America should repeal the 2nd amendment and create national laws prohibiting the ownership of powerful guns above hand guns and hunting guns. And for all the gun nuts who would oppose that, they'd get used to it. Their kids would get even more used to it and in time, no one would complain. Would it stop crazy people from trying to shoot others? No. But when a killer opens fire with a hand gun and only kills 3 people rather than 17, we'll all be happier for it.
  21. To be honest, it doesnt mean much to me. I'd probably check the mail box once a week if it wasnt home delivery. And people would get used to it in time. There is something to be said for the elderly and disabled however, and the fact the Postal Service is a business that users pay for. I think there were better options, such as reduced delivery (ie. three days a week). But if the PM promised to reverse it and is now not doing so, it's a broken promise. And this early in his tenure, he's had a few misses. To be accurate, this is what he promised: We will save home mail delivery. By ending door-to-door mail delivery, Stephen Harper is asking Canadians to pay more for less service. That is unacceptable. We will stop Stephen Harper’s plan to end door-to-door mail delivery in Canada and undertake a new review of Canada Post to make sure that it provides high-quality service at a reasonable price to Canadians, no matter where they live. So he sort of hedged. But certainly made it seem that anyone losing home mail delivery would get it back.
  22. My feeling before the Jets came back was that NHL teams should let their players play in the tournament. So I cant be biased now.
  23. MP Rempel: I believe that he PM just suggested that TFSAs only benefit wealthy Canadians. I wonder what he defines as wealthy. PM doesn't answer question regarding who he defines as middle class.
  24. Didn't he promise to reverse this? PM won't commit to fully restore mail home delivery, but vows no new community boxes. Will consult with Cda Post on next steps. #cdnpoli
