  1. 4-2 Jets now midway through 2. Winnipeg far and away the better skating team of the two, and probably should be up more if not for missed PP chances. Ehlers scored a beauty. Speed through the neutral zone, nifty move at the line, D backs up and he wrists 'er in from just inside the circle. 4-3 Jets now. Defence not very effective on side right now.
  2. Yeah, good sign for this place to see other team's fans coming here. And yeah, good for conversation to get other POV. That said, the Durant thread was littered with the same Pom pom waving that we're *apparently* helping to eliminate with the help of the oh-so-knowledgeable Rider brethren. Only instead of blue and gold pom pom's, they were green and white, and accompanied with a sign reading: "Durant or no Durant, we're the best and winning the Grey Cup!"
  3. I loved at the end of O'Shea's press conference Lawless tries (several times) to point out how the rush yds against wore down our D and that it probably led to the Riders having an advantage in TOP. Well, Sir Garry, if you bothered to look at the gamestats prior to waddling to the conference, you'd know we had the ball slightly longer. Not too mention 9 more first downs, 150+ more yds of offence.... not that those things matter, right?
  4. My 2 cents. This year's outfit is miles and miles ahead of last year. I really hope suggesting otherwise was an attempt at humour. Run D, in tough again. On the plus side, tackling seemed a bit sharper. End of the day, 14 pts, 14 first downs and 300 yds against is a pretty solid effort by the defence. Offence did enough, but not when it mattered.... ill advised throw sucked the the life outta that place. I thought Drew had plenty of time to throw all night, and when he didn't, he stepped up and got rid of it. Special teams and untimely calls against cost us this one. I had a great time though, sec 209 brought the noise all day. Rider 5 beside us shared some mini donuts, so hard to be too mad at them.
  5. Under 30 crowd, checking in. I don't think there's much of an issue getting people my age or younger involved. Had the last regime stayed another year or two, maybe another story. We were just talking about this at my office...one mixed with mid20's to middle age folks, male and female. Consensus was Miller is doing a lot of positive things to engage people. Allowing fans on the field and keeping the vendors open past the final whistle is only one ex of something theyre doing to engage fans, young and old. Bottom line: 20-23K are going to be at the stadium rain, shine or earthquake. When the team is promising (hello 2014!) the casual fans will come out in droves. /non issue. Handled internally.
  6. Nothing finer than some positive Bomber news to read on your lunch break.... Nawwwwt.
  7. I'm more intrigued with what they'll decide to do with Morrissey... I know you need to be patient bringing up Dmen (see: Bogosian, Zach) but the kid's played 200+ games in junior already. Rushing guys to the show hurts development, but so to does leaving them down too long, no? Either way, I'm pumped to see him, Petan and hopefully Comrie suiting up for Canada come Christmas.
  8. Hey, compare away. We can dream, right? haha. Kane's now only listed at 180 lbs and gets by more than fine. He played just the one season in Jr. too. Tore it up w/ London, 145 pts in 58 games. Then the very next season, 72 pts in 82 games as a rookie with the Hawks. ....we can dream, right?
  9. It would seem like a longshot for him to make the club this year, then again the guy clearly has major offensive upside and speed to burn. *IF* he shows he's ready, maybe we give him an opportunity past the 7 games. One advantage he has vs. a guy like Scheifele when he came up first in 2011 is that Ehlers can easily out-skate tons of guys in the league already and that could save him from the physical burden he'd have to deal with.
  10. Moore's too busy make dumbass tweets about the NFL's new domestic violence policy....
  11. I get the economics, a potential billion + in expansion fees. But this would only further water down the game. Think the Jets bottom six sucks now?
  12. Well send them down to Ferguson, MO where they'll get good use. As for a BOMBERS helmet, I'd prefer it looked a little, like, you know, it belongs to the BOMBERS!
  13. Not trying to turn this into a media-bashing thread, but curious as to how/why Madani's got the scoop when Penton and Lawless are MIA. Maybe Gary's busy in the hotel sink doing this ice bucket challenge thing.... (Sorry for the visual, hope you weren't eating) Woods must be banged up. Seems like an ideal return guy to me.
  14. To me, this sums it all up. Another year of non-action could be (even more) detrimental to this team. Clearly this offseason was not deemed the time to decide whether they're a) a team that's close, a piece or 2 away from playoffs year in year out or closer to a rebuild, in need of more picks (esp high end / 1st rounders), aka Our Core Isn't Good Enough. The only decision out of Jets HQ that's been crystal clear is that they're approaching this season like they have each of the past 3; very little changeover and hoping for improvement from within. I don't think you'll find any logic to suggest we'd be in a playoff run come trade deadline - if that happens, suffice to say some significant players would have to be significantly better than they've been or are expected to be - Pavelec, Bogosian, Kane immediately come to mind. Even if the Jets are much better than expected, I think they'll be a ways out by then unless a central division team regresses big time. The Dallas vs. Wpg debate may have been interesting last year - but this year? They have Seguin, Spezza, Eakin and Horcoff down the middle - maybe the most deep at C league-wide. Their "core" vs ours = not even a debate, their's wins in a landslide. We might disagree about the quality of their bottom six... Cole, Horcoff, Garbutt... meh If Scheif steps up, all of a sudden our centre lineup is decent - Perrault is as good or better than Eakin. Basically the whole season relies on Scheifele and Kane getting better. Ladd-Little-Frolik Kane-Scheif-ODell(?) Buff-Perrault-Wheeler Halischuk-Slater-Galiardi I liked ODell's chemistry with Kane and Scheif - I think this top 9 could get us into the playoffs. Fourth line is still pretty suspect - and one or two injuries will sink this team. At 24 yrs old, with all of 30 games and 3 NHL goals under his belt, I'm not sure O'Dell is 2nd line material - esp if Kane and Sheif are as important as you're suggesting. LOL not even. Eakin is a nice bottom 6 centre but lots of teams have those guys, Horcoff though is an old guy who is fading really really fast. I mean he was playing like a legit top line centre for a couple years in Edmonton, but that's only a few years shy of being a decade ago, he's not anywhere close to the same player. I think you're underrating Eakin. He's the prototypical 3rd line grinder with some speed and finishing ability. I'm without direct references, but I recall Dallas staff speaking glowingly of his progress last season. Agree completely with your points about Horcoff.... that's why I'd love him on my 4th line. He's been there, done that, and while of course not the player he once was, in a real pinch he could move up the depth chart. We're relying on a guy who can't stay healthy or score. Love Slater, but HE'S our best 4th liner right now....and that's no good...

  16. I guess my biggest issue with Chevy after reflecting upon the last 3+ yrs of his leadership is that there doesn't appear to be any strong plan in place to get better - and not just have a better system and prospects - but actually have better results. Clearly, they haven't done enough to bring in talent from outside the organization. This is really no debate. We can debate expectations and the 'ol would he/woulnd't he come here, end of the day pretty safe to say that 0 high impact players have been brought in. When Michael Frolik is your only substantial acquisiton and when you've NEVER completed a player-for-player trade it shows you're involvement in free agency and the trade market is essentially non-existent. The draft-and-develop blueprint I totally buy into - for both the state of our franchise, and market, this seems appropriate. Problem here is Chevy has aquired the exact same amount of picks as he's traded away - so when people within the organization or outside say we're building through the draft, it's not really the full picture. We're drafting well, but not enough. Sum it up and my fear with this team is that by the end of this season or next we'll be looking to pull the chord on Chevy and have the same lingering questions we did before these were the Jets: Is the core good enough, is Pavelec a legit starter, how good is Buff, Kane etc. Finishing one or 2 spots outside the playoff line is easily the worst place to finish - you're not drafting high enough, and your fans don't get postseason hockey. Given that we've yet to see playoffs anyway, would it not have made more sense to deal a Byfuglien, a Ladd, an asset that can bring back draft picks and prospects. Get worse now to get better moving forward. Yes, hindsight is 20/20....just feels more and more like we had our eyes closed and were hoping for the best the last few yrs...do the same thing and hope for better results - not a good enough method to win, especially not when you have Chi, St.L, Col and Dal in the division. /rant
  17. I gave up reading after, "All things being equal, the Blue Bombers should get spanked tonight in B.C. by the Lions"... Huh?
  18. For those who missed it...https://vine.co/v/MQxnrBAd0HU I think you posted the wrong video. ?
  19. When you're punter gets hurt in warmups, you're in trouble. When the place kicker who replaces him is the team's best player (despite a clanker off the upright) you're not winning the game.

  21. Really tired of the criticism towards the fans and the media's insistence to reference the number of empty seats, rather than what has been sold. I even heard Lawless on H&L last night saying the stadium was too big - good freakin' grief... we've only played a dozen games there, give it some time!!! Last year was one of the worst seasons on record; coupled with a new stadium opening that was delayed a year and in a location that was more than a 5 min walk for St.James folk. Did everyone expect us to be selling out after that abomination last year? I chose to see it this way: Game #1 we sold 24K and change, game #2 we sold 27K+ and for game #3 we'll be over 30K no problem. (29,100 is from yest. aft remember). People have the audacity to call out fans for that???
