I could see the Esks. keeping Franklin and trading Reilly at the end of the season for a boatload of assets.  The Argos or the Riders might be desperate enough at that point to provide the Esks. with a number of top draft picks and established players.

Reilly has been hit a lot and hurt a lot. The way he currently plays the game means he gets hit a lot more than someone like Calvillo or Burris.
I don't think anyone is saying Reilly is not a great QB (some may be suggesting that) but that the way he plays, he's at greater risk of having a career shortening injury.
Maybe he changes his style and protects himself more.

Reilly is a good QB but he's no AC or Ray or Burris playing well into his twilight.  His style of play will likely put him in DD category who is on the downward swing of his career at 34. If I was thinking long term, I would go with Franklin over Reilly, but ultimately I would be trying to make something work with both first

Willy is never gonna be a quick release guy like Calvillo.  Ray is the same way though so maybe he will put in a system taking that into account.  If he tries to replicate what he had in Montreal without Calvillo and their o-line, TO will be in trouble.

One of the nuances of the Canadian game, ie. the CFL, is one of the very things that set this game apart, and that is the Canadian ratio. It's taken years to get to the number of NI players each team must carry. It works. It's up to each team to maintain a proper ratio of rookie NIs and proven NIs all under the SMS in place. When teams don't pay attention, you get the recently bad Bomber teams and Rider teams - no depth.
Never has the Canadian player been so in demand as in recent years. And people want to change that? Because that's what will happen. Sure, the best players get scooped up, at least for a time, and that will never change, but limiting the number of roster spots doesn't seem to be a good idea in keeping the attraction for playing in the CFL.
Football at the college level is thriving right now and producing better players. And you want to limit the opportunities? Doesn't make sense.
Our game is fine. More than fine.
    Leave it alone.

Hopefully the Addison Richards experiment ends like the Etienne one. Memo to Kyle Walters: Never draft another Saskatchewan receiver again. They'll mess with your mind, ratio & salary cap.

CFLPA has to do something about the whole roster bonus release...  getting ridiculous.

Why do people just give Ryan Smith a defacto lock to make this team?  if anything he's the one who should be on the bubble, not Denmark.

Cato sucks in many ways.  Had a fluky run, big arm, good legs, can't pass.  Not interested in QBs that can't pass.

Jones didn't have a lot of confidence in Nichols in Edmonton, so I don't see the fit.

If that's the case they should have a contract offer in a drawer waiting for his return.  If he can beat their numbers he signs elsewhere, if not, welcome back.

Read the link I posted earlier in the thread. They released him early because they felt it was the classy thing to do, to give Glenn extra time. To try and work out a deal somewhere. They said we can't offer you a deal right now because we're still working on Nichols. So here's your release early, so you're free to try to work something out elsewhere, but if that doesn't pan out, we may be able to do something here later.

I think the team learned it's lesson from way back when Dinwiddie started the grey cup with zero game experience....

The Toronto Argonauts apparently have 14 more days to decide on Drew Willy's fate. Willy is due a 100k bonus to start 2017, but Justin Dunk said it was erroneously reported to be on Jan 1st. The real date is Jan 15th.
Jim Barker is still the GM? and it will be up to him, and the staff? to decide how far to take it. I think after the initial angst passes, the Argos and Willy-boy will agree to a re-negotiated contract. Both sides will have to do this for their own interests.

BMO is a C at best don't get why people like it so much. People that whine about IGF have not set foot in other stadiums it's so superior to anything else in the country.

    Stadiums:
Riders A+ based on rumour and conjecture and the writer admits that he has only seen the outside in person
    Edmonton B
    Ottawa - A-
    BC: B
    Hamilton: A-
    Winnipeg: B-
    Toronto: A

You can make some complaints on IGF in terms of location or parking, but once in the stadium it is a fantastic experience.  Your reasoning on why IGF is a B- is "Investors Group Field is massive and fun but will be put into perspective once the Riders move into new Mosaic."  The only bad thing you can say about it is that it won't be as good as new Mosaic, then why is Hamilton, Toronto, and Edmonton ranked above it?

JohnnyOnTheSpot got a reaction from JCon in If not Nichols, who would you like to see as our QB in 2017?
Bombers are a playoff team now. You have to have a guy who has experience which would be Nichols, Durant or Glenn.  Franklin will likely be a good one down the road but I want to win this year.
Ray is done.  37, injury trouble and lost more games than he won in 5 years with TO. I can't believe his name still comes up. It will be interesting to see if TO pays Willy a bonus he is due in January amid rumors they want him to rework his contract.  And still no firings in the big smoke?
