AKAChip got a reaction from Bigblue204 in Bombers acquire Zach Collaros
Far, FAR worse QBs than Streveler have won Grey Cups. With far worse supporting casts too. Not saying it’s likely but it’s far from impossible. There are no juggernauts in the league this season.

We're trying to win a GC in 2019. 1991-2018 are completely irrelevant to this discussion.
I'm not sure what you're arguing. What QB is better suited to lead the Bombers than the one who is starting now? Who knows the playbook better? Who is a proven winner that is or was available?

I appreciate your concern. Frankly, I find it hard to imagine there’s anyone on earth who knows less about football than you.

I'll bite.
Let's compare apples to apples shall we? Not what an 8 year vet has accomplished compared to a guy who has less than a full season of playing time under his belt. Through Nichols first 23 games with Edmonton (Streveler has been in 24):
270 / 443 (60.9% completion rate) for 3386 (12.5 yards per completion) with 19 TDs and 18 interceptions. He added 36 carries for 138 yards (3.8 yards per carry) and 3 touchdowns
Streveler by comparison:
224 / 347 (64.5% completion rate) for 2564 yards (11.44 yards per completion) with 18 TDs and 17 interceptions. He added 182 carries for 1089 yards (5.7 yards per carry) and 22TDs
See .. stats are fun! 😉

It will take a miracle to finally convince some people that Nichols isn't close to a top tier QB in any facet. Streveler has two bad games and suddenly forget the dozens of Nichols' bad to mediocre performances. Not that Streveler is a saviour but Nichols is no better than the 7th best QB in the league at best. Mitchell, Reilly, Masoli, Arbuckle, Evans and even Adams are better. Hell, I think Fajardo is pretty terrible but even he is probably better.

Strevler can throw..not sure why people are on this cant throw train..but when u have minimal practice reps with deeper balls..and chemistry with your receivers.. u get ups and downs...as the game has slowed for him and he has been less panicky and high strong.. his passing gas improved and he has a pretty good completion percentage last several games..give it time..he is basically gaining experience and instinctive reaction tendancies now as most other guys have gathered throughout 4 years of college and first year or 2 of pro..his only being a true QB and a starter at that for basically 3 years now has him behind the curve a bit..and this is huge..all things considered he is developing pretty good in this bizzare offence..and really should have a winning record as a starter this year if we didnt give 2 of his starts away

Two more seasons as a backup lol. That’s clearly not going to happen. He will either start next year or he will be gone.

Second one was bad. First one was a jump ball in the end zone with one on one coverage. Adams didn’t give much effort and was tugged most of the way down the field. You could argue he didn’t need to take that shot there but we’ve settled for field goals with poor clock management in those scenarios so often, it doesn’t bother me much.

Streveler wasn’t any better today than he was against Hamilton but a win does a lot to adjust perspectives. That’s the whole thing with Nichols. Does this team win today without four picks? Doubt it. Same thing as a ton of the Nichols wins.

A Nicholsian passing game, then. The point is he was mediocre but the team won.

Streveler with a very Nicholsian win today. Definitely wasn’t pretty but the team won so I suppose he gets all the credit.

He’s a number two on pretty much any other team. Good, not great player.

Totally agree. A QB is often only as good as the situation his coaches put him in. It was a much improved gameplan today. I hope that continues as well as steadily improved play from Streveler.

Half decent gameplan from Lapo today. Doubt it’s meaningful long term but credit today.

That’s fair but my overall point was just intended as a statement to illustrate a less specific overall point that there have been a number of games this season won almost exclusively through defensive and ST plays. It just so happens that most of them were in games Nichols’ played which leads to him being more highly regarded than is deserved.

Hey, I completely agree. And Streveler theoretically should only improve.

Exactly. His playing time at all is a small sample size but his deep shots provide an even smaller sample size because they’re hardly written into the playbook. And when he only gets one shot deep a game, the misses are going to skew that data significantly.
