  1. Considering he gave big American companies 50 - 100 million dollars freely and dropped a billion dollars to Syria... I don't think it would of killed him to give 50 million + to the CFL. Working at various federal Gov't jobs in my career... 50 million is a drop in the bucket. I've worked on unnecessary projects that have been given 10 - 15 million dollars that ended up going down the toilet because of the lamest of things (usually egos / hurt feelings). The Feds EASILY can give the money.
  2. I don't get it, it's one of the best movies of the 80's. Classic movie.
  3. What has he done or what headlines or initiatives outside of trying to expand to Moncton has he done in regards with Canadian investors. I guess the bumbling of the Alouettes and screwing that up as well would be a 2nd failed thing he's attempted. And how has he done compared to guys before, the only headlines he's made is trying to extend to Mexico, Europe and now the States with zero success. He's been by far the biggest failure in the last 30 years of all the different CFL commissioners. It's unfortunate that during the largest crisis that the CFL was stuck with the worst leader they have had. As I said before... it's sad that a rinky dink league with teams like the Goldeyes can get their **** in order while Ambrosie is praying and hoping that they can sell the league to Americans for a quick buck. His arrogance and lazyness completely torpedoed any chance of help from the feds and now he's in desperation mode.
  4. Kevin Smith has the sharpest decline in quality of movies from start of career till end. No point in making this a discussion because it's fact
  5. I dunno maybe find investors from Canada might be a good start, maybe Ambrosie had been to busy visiting places in Europe during his reign pre COVID to focus his time on keeping it Canadian. My guess is that next he'll try to convince players in getting paid in Doge Coin or NFT art because he's lazy and read an article about get rich quick with the latest flash in the pan schemes. If Ambrosie is going to give up then why not approach Vince McMahon who has way more cash then The Rock, he wanted to buy the league before and has owned 2 XFL promotions over the Rock only owning 1.
  6. St Louis because they were also pissed off at the owner leaving town, that is why they had good attendances for their XFL team.
  7. Lol it just keeps getting better, those thunderous bops at the end were hilarious.
  8. Le Saj is a real good place to check out.
  9. I would recommend checking NCAA attendances and even some high schools are getting 15 - 20 k....
  10. Are you suggesting that here in Winnipeg that we have people who are nostalgic of the Winnipeg Thunder basketball team? I'm pretty sure 99% of the people in Baltimore do not even know or remember the Stallions from 30 years ago. Once again... forget not that the 'Murricans have a tonne of NCAA and even high school love for local football teams. Their is not a need or a thurst for more minor league football down south.
  11. Lol... have you been living under a rock? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Ravens You'd have a better example with St Louis since they had decent attendances mostly out of spite and anger at the Rams leaving town on real bad terms.
  12. I just think guys like Willie Jefferson would be way more likely to sign closer to home then Winnipeg. Being a family man myself I'd rather my family be only a few hour drive or cheap plane flight away then going to visit a different country.
  13. I'd imagine Henoc and Kevin Glenn will go in with a grandma's blanket like jersey which has little patches from each team on it. Cuthbert... is someone suggesting going from minor league to major league means they hated the minor league? Do the folks on here not realize how much more money play by play games make in the NHL? Not to mention if they were to go from Sportsnet to the States to one of the bigger brodcast stations? Some of those guys make life changing money down south.
  14. The American teams will be coming and going every season which would result in dispersal drafts constantly. Also as said before do you think if we get a guy who starts to prosper that he wouldn't take equal or more money to live down South near his friends and family?
  15. I don't know about that, the fact that the rosters would continually rotate so you wouldn't be able to build bonds or interest in favourite players would be a big impact. The change of the rules would only hurt interest as well. I kind of like the fact that we have guys who stick around and who we can root for.
  16. I was told that he should of been traded for Price because Helle has already peaked and we can get maximum value if we unload him now
  17. Going off my point in the other thread... I wonder how many free agents would of signed in Winnipeg in the last few years if they had the option of staying closer to home and living year round in a nicer climate in areas with a much more lively night life.
  18. So if they change the field and the rules and remove the Canadians from the game... then why would I watch the Blue Bombers when I could watch the NFL? The only reason I watch the CFL is because of it's uniqueness and Canadian players. I can't believe so called fans on here are trying to sell it to themselves that things need to change and can't always be the same. Change the marketing, change the game day experience, change the presentation on tv. Don't change the rules, field size, and whatever gives the CFL it's unique flavour. The moment they change things to cater to the American audience/teams is the moment they lose the vast majority of the remaining CFL football fans and with American teams coming and going and rosters constantly being dispersed and changed it will crap on any continuity. It will be like the Moose/Goldeyes where every season it's a different cast of characters on the team. Also good luck luring any free agents to Winnipeg when they have options of living closer to home or in much more desirable locations with lower taxes and much more things to do. When the Jets left no die hard sports fans gave two shits about the Moose. The Moose was like the Goldeyes which was only around because it was a nice cheap night out to take the family for something fun. I never once saw any adults wearing jerseys or anyone talking about how they were playing at work. The CFL will be watered down like the AHL or the baseball league, nobody will give a crap and unlike the Moose who could remain profitable with 3000 - 4000 attendance per game, the Blue Bombers won't be able to survive with attendances like that.
  19. I'm not sure how that relates but my friends and some of co-workers who live in Ottawa now mainly go because it's a really fun night out. They are far from die hard football fans. I had asked them about back in the day with the Renegades and I didn't realize how poor the stadium was and how terrible the owners were and what a complete crap-show it was when they had mardi gras themed events where Women were being harassed and put into really unsafe situations. It's night and day different now from what they say.
  20. Football interest was dropping before the pandemic and BLM. BLM doesn't even really impact the general audience of NFL (which is primarily older white men). Basketball is really hot with the youth and the key demos. NFL is still ridiculously popular and still makes insane cash, but overall interest in football is definitely down as a whole. Just look at how mediocre the reception was for the AAFL/XFL and how Arena football went under.
  21. Based on what? Interest in football is on the decline (and the demographics are aging) with NBA grabbing a lot of the young audience.
  22. Point A - American Audience had very little interest in XFL 1.0, Arena Football , AAFL or whatever that other league was called last year, and less success with XFL 2.0 then they had with XFL 1.0 Point B - The NFL itself is losing popularity and college ball in the States will ALWAYS be way more popular then CFL. Fantasy football is a pipe dream and never going to happen (see NFL/NCAA as reasons why). I guess a TV contract is a possibility? Point C - Video game is meaningless for ownership and CFL will never have a AAA football game. The CFL would get peanuts as a license fee from any developer making a CFL game. Like literally each time *might* get $25 000 if that. I just have HEAVY skepticism when 5 different attempts WITH great tv deals and super rich owners have failed in the states and now I'm suppose to believe that magically the Rock will make this 6th attempt work? I've heard all these fluff lines before "We have unique thinking, we have billionaire owners, we have great football minds" and they ALL have falled flat with just minimal amounts of successes in certain cities. Merging with the XFL I think will turn the CFL into something similar to the Goldeyes situation where every year teams join and leave the league and you have zero idea who the hell or what the hell the teams are. With the constant changes it will IMO diminish interest from the hardcore fans and you'll end up with stadiums partially full of fairweather fans paying $10 dollars a ticket to merely enjoy a nice night out of the house. To me this seems like the quick fix lazy way out from Ambrosie.
  23. Where's our Monctom team , I thought Ambrosie was going to have it up and running by now I think Ottawa is a great example of how those questionable cities can learn from. Many of the people I know who go to Redblack games go because of the gameday experience (more so then the love of the CFL).
  24. I don't get how fresh thinking unique reach and experience of xfl ownership is going to help the CFL at all.
  25. Wasn't Dinwiddie the temp OC at Montreal ? I'd be much more impressed if he would of brought in some new major sponsors instead....
