  1. In rotation it probably wouldn't be too bad (obviously not a long term plan though). If he signs with a team, he still has a 2 game suspension to serve so as a mid-season add, we could do worse.
  2. Wonder if he got marketing money as part of his deal? The league was supposedly cracking down on teams abusing that cap loophole so maybe the Bombers did something visible to prove it was justified?
  3. Who said lazy? Maybe dragging out negotiations was part of his strategy. Like you said, there could be many reasons but we have no idea what they are/were. Also never said there was no plan - I said I don't get what his plan was & I'm not referring just to Ford. either. I'm good with letting almost any DB go if his salary is going to prevent us from re-signing or signing players who could help in other areas. There were a number of moves (or lack thereof) that I didn't get.
  4. I used acceptable because Ford said he would have taken the offer had it come earlier. He said they knew what he wanted but didn't get there until the very end so yeah it seems they eventually were willing to meet his asking price (according to Ford anyway). I do agree with the HC/GM disconnect though. I can't imagine our scouting team is very happy about busting their asses for nothing either.
  5. I don't think it was a case of Walters moving on since he got to their asking price eventually. He was willing to pay - just dragged his feet on it. Yeah we've heard it before but usually he came with a lowball offer (like Jeffcoat) but this is the first time I've seen it publicly that he was willing to give a player what they wanted but just waited to long. Really strange off-season, imo. Letting guys walk then over-paying for PR players (Mitchell) & giving out unwarranted extensions (ZC). I don't get what the plan was.
  6. I think part of the problem is Walter's approach to things. We've heard from multiple players that they heard nothing or next to nothing from Walters when it came to a new deal. Recently, Tyrell Ford said that their negotiations were pretty slow and Walters didn't come with an acceptable offer until it was too late. FTR, I'm fine with Ford moving on but it makes me wonder how many other players we may have lost in a similar fashion?

  8. He also recently said he has no desire to coach (other than his kids teams). He said he's had a long career and his family life has revolved around that so the life of a coach life isn't really what he wants when he's done.
  9. Lawler is the only pick working for me so I'm going to ride that train again.
  10. Weitz was moved to the PR a couple weeks ago.
  11. Yeah I have no idea why they extended Dyce before the season started. Burke is (afaik) on the last year of his deal so they may be in a position to clean house if they want to eat that extra year of Dyce's contract.

  13. I'm sure he will be but they only do one per year for the ROH (with the exception of 2016 when it was first created). He's already in the Bombers & CFL HOF so the ring is the only thing left for him.
  14. Correct but it's Access Credit Union after they merged a few years ago. Red Lobster & Olive Garden were part of the same strip mall but separate buildings (RL was at 803 Leila & OG was 787 Leila). You think incorrectly. The Olive Garden building is now a Salisbury House. It was also a Brannigans at one point too.
  15. I don't think anyone needs to be in the room for this question. It was in regards to football in general, not specifically the Bombers. People like Booch who have played/coached at fairly high levels are more than qualified to answer a question like that.
  16. Love this one - Ty was my favorite as a kid. https://www.bluebombers.com/2025/07/09/he-had-so-much-joy-on-the-football-field-tyrone-jones-added-to-ring-of-honour
  17. And it's still relatively early in the season... what kind of condition will those guys be in down the stretch and into the playoffs?
  18. I've heard him say that but I don't know if I buy it. Biggie's injury forced their hand at linebacker - even if they kept him, he's still out so a replacement was needed either way. There's always turn over in the secondary (Alford, Rose, Houston for example) so moving on from BA & Ford just seems like regular occurrence rather than a plan. And like I said, they already had internal replacements so it's pretty easy to do when you have 20 other guys to choose from. If there's a plan, why does it include leaving the DL so thin that we can barely spell off the few guys we do roster on gameday?
  19. They didn't move on from Ford, he walked away. Biggie, I have no doubt, would still be here if he hadn't shredded his knee. He's still not healthy enough to play so that should have been a no brainer. I'll give you BA but let's not pretend they had some big wholesale change planned. Those 3 are also at positions where we have depth so we could roll with guys we already had - the D Line has needed help for a while but we haven't seen a whole lot of movement. It's also not just about moving on from older players, it's about how they are being used. Thomas has absolutely no business being a starter taking tons of reps but here we are. If he was being used sparingly as a backup, you'd see way less posts about him. As much as I love WJ, it's plain to see that he should not be on the field as much as he is.
  20. I don't disagree that his approach isn't the same and I was never arguing that. I argued that he wasn't the cheapskate you made him out to be. He still spends money, it's just mostly internally as he seems to prefer re-signing existing guys over attracting new (potentially younger) talent. He definitely isn't as aggressive in FA as he used to be but the team also wasn't as good so he kinda had to be. If we maintain the status quo , we"ll be back in that situation.
  21. Who is the last high end FA brought in (excluding bringing Lawler back from Edmonton). Willie? Bighill? That's not really Walter's style (occasionally wish it was though). Even the guys they do sign, don't always get a chance to see the field (White or Mitchell for example) so it's a bit of a waste.
  22. I didn't see much that changed from his approach this off-season. He even stated that he's not changing just because we're hosting GC this year. Yeah he let Lawler walk (not the first time) and yeah guys like Dobson (not the first OL to leave) & Ford (also not the first DB to leave) took off but that's the same approach he's always taken - it's not new to this past off-season yet history shows he spends to or past the cap. We won't know about this year until the spring.
