2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season
If Toronto wants an experienced HC, looks like it's Campbell's job for the taking since both Steinauer & Mace have declined to be interviewed for the position. Not sure why they would even bother asking Mace - can't see him leaving anytime soon. Yup, we had both in 92 (as well as the son in law). 92 was Matty's first year with us & Danny's last. I remember the rumours about Garza but he was 3rd string & had been with the team longer so I'm not sure how true that is.

Apparently he's one of the highest paid college QB's, making around $2 million a year. He reportedly turned down a $4 million/year offer to leave Vanderbilt but declined because they took a chance on him so he feels indebted to them.

Watched him on the Netflix series about the SEC and he just had a career game where he threw for 484 yards & 5 td's against Kentucky yesterday (most passing yards in a SEC game in almost 30 years). He's definitely getting some attention right now but at 5'10, how much of a real look does he get in the NFL?

There were definitely some people not happy about bringing in Rider castoffs. Worked out well for us in the end but there was doubt about him.

2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season
He was at the end of his career by the time he came here so yeah he been associated with the Riders for so long that I can see that. He also didn't have a big energetic personality that made you overlook that Rider stink. Guys like Willie and Yoshi made it hard to dislike them.

Willie and Yoshi did not seem to have any issues here, being former Riders.

One year deal so no need to release him.

And in BC last year but let's not let facts get in the way of things. But he did take snaps as the short yardage QB.

Logan was hurt early and then Vaval took his job & never gave it back- he may have added something if he ever got to see the field. Mitchell was a bust for sure though.

Why wouldn't Dru count? He may be with Ottawa but Winnipeg absolutely groomed him - they just chose to stick with ZC. It's no different than how Arbuckle was touted as the next big Calgary QB for a couple seasons but he was behind a prime BLM so he was shipped off to (coincidentally) Ottawa. Calgary had Maier after that and they eventually felt confident enough to move on from BLM. Neither guy panned out as an elite starter but Calgary still spend a few seasons developing each of them.

Alexander has 4 seasons under his belt now - he was definitely groomed to take over.

Yep, Wilson, going into GC threw a grand total of 1 pass in his 18 games in the 2024 regular season. He had next to zero experience doing anything but handing the ball off or running a QB sneak. That's the MOS way though, with rookies.

His exact words from his Nov 3rd media availability: Around the 2:45 mark of the video, he's asked about the fans wanting major changes.

The Winnipeg Thread
So not extortion or drug addict from the looks of things... Man charged with arson in multiple fires at Winnipeg restaurants, constituency offices | CBC News 22 counts of arson and other things: Arson with Disregard for Human Life Arson Causing Damage to Property x 13 Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment x 4 Break Enter and Commit Arson – Place x 2 Break and Enter with Intent – Place x 2 Not sure if it the same guy or not but age & location fit - on Facebook, there's a guy with the same name who is a bit of a Point Douglas white knight. He was pretty vocal about not having the safe injection site in that neighborhood so I wonder if the arson locations weren't targeted. He's charged with the fires at the constituency offices of Nahanni Fontaine and Bernadette Smith (who is the addictions minister), as well as fires at a provincial treatment center. Maybe the businesses had shown their support for the idea (or for something else) and got on his s**t list.

We have seen that scenario way too many times, especially in the last few years, 2022 - MBT is struggling and the Argos turn to Chad Kelly. 2024 - Chad Kelly get hurt in the Eastern Final and Argos turn to Nick Arbuckle.

Also a QB that can't grip a ball & throw properly is much different than a QB who can't run well.

Mekhi Tyrell. Was supposed to play for the Bisons this year but ended up with the Edmonton Wildcats. Was it performance or did we let him go to the NFL? The Chargers signed him a week after we released him so the timing is odd.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
A couple Winnipeggers made the Fall top prospects list so I'm trying to keep an eye on them so we'll see where the rank with the winter & spring lists come out. Giordano Vaccaro (OL for Purdue, after playing for the Bisons the last few years) was listed at #11 while Trae Tomlinson (DB for Louisiana) cracked the list at #20. Mesidor takes hold of top spot in fall edition of CFL Scouting Bureau - CFL.ca Patrice Rene is one I would have liked them to have held on to. Yeah he was hurt while he was here (and that was the knock on him in college) but we cut bait with him after seeing him in one game. He's since played 51 games over the last 3 years for BC.
