He was Montreal's OC for a bit in 2014 and 2015 (co-OC with Calvillo) so he did have a tiny bit more experience. https://www.cfl.ca/2014/08/11/sideline-shuffle-alouettes-shake-up-coaching-staff/ https://en.montrealalouettes.com/2015/09/05/anthony-calvillo-ryan-dinwiddie-promoted-co-offensive-coordinators/ -
Jones just needs to hit a leg drop on Einarson next tournament to make the heel turn complete! Or maybe on Lawes since they played together for so long.

I think it was just a poor choice of words. if it had said MOS got all the credit from the fans, rather than took all the credit, I don't think this would even be an issue. -

Was an receivers coach with Calgary & RB coach with Montreal before becoming a STC and eventually HC but yeah he did skip the OC/DC role. -

OL looks pretty week this year, at least as far as top prospects go. The fall rankings only had 2 OL listed & the top rated one, Eric Schon (4th overall), has already retired. The winter list had 3 OL but nobody ranked super high so not a banner year for that position but the bright side is teams won't have to worry about NFL interest! 😂 DL class looks deep though (7 of 20 players & 4 in the top 10). Here's last months winter rankings: Rank Name Position 1 (1) Kurtis Rourke QB 2 (3) Paris Shand DL 3 (–) Elic Ayomanor WR 4 (8) Isaiah Bagnah DL 5 (10) Keelan White WR 6 (20) Jaylen Smith LB 7 (14) Jeremiah Ojo DL 8 (5) Jackson Findlay DB 9 (–) Hayden Harris DL 10 (17) Erik Andersen OL 11 (–) Christopher Fortin OL 12 (–) Ali Saad DL 13 (19) Darien Newell DL 14 (16) Nate Martey DL 15 (15) Devin Veresuk LB 16 (–) Ethan Jordan WR 17 (–) Samuel Carson OL 18 (–) Isaiah Knight RB 19 (–) Nate Beauchemin DB 20 (–) Taylor Elgersma QB There was also a another player added to the draft a few days ago that Dunk says might be the best LB in the draft. https://3downnation.com/2025/02/20/university-of-wyoming-lb-connor-shay-added-to-2025-cfl-draft/ -

Yeah he's an anomaly - skipping the positional coach role to become a coordinator and then skipping OC or DC to become HC. Can't recall any other HC in recent memory that has had a career path like that. -

No he didn't. He was never a LB coach (at least in name), he was a coordinator (special teams) for the Argos from 2010-2013 before becoming our HC. -

Yeah I read it and i get why he wants to stay where he is. What I don't get is why an article about the lack of new blood is only talking to one single coach who has no interest in being part of that new blood. If they want to create a discussion about the lack of new coaches coming in, why not talk to someone who would love the chance to get into the CFL (even at a positional coach level) and they can talk about difficulties they've faced. Or talk to a guy like Hogan who can provide some insight as recent injection of new blood and what worked for him. -

Other than MOS, every current head coach in the league started out as a position coach before moving up to a coordinator position. If this guy isn't willing to work his way up, that's his decision but it's not because there's a lack of opportunity. The league could use more new blood but if those guys aren't willing to leave USports what can the league do? Nothing wrong with staying where you are if you've got a good thing going. Some guys like Dobie are USports lifers and some guys are willing to leave a successful program (Chapdelaine comes to mind) in order to chase a pro career. -

He's been offered chances to join the CFL coaching ranks, says no and then complains that there's no opportunities? Not sure what the point of the articles is when you can definitely work your way up just like Jason Hogan has in a fairly short time. -

He also said last year wasn't what he expected - was that an assumption on his part or was he lead to believe he'd be used a certain way and it didn't end up happening? Whatever the case, we know now that he was given enough information as to what his role would be this season to get him to come back. Hopefully it plays out that way. -

Do you have faith that he'll be unshackled though? Hogan as OC is a huge question mark - he's been working under Buck so do we similar use of Strevy or does he actually use him as a QB? -
It was a bad performance well before that line, IMO.

I wonder why nobody thought he was worth bringing in for a look last year? Even Faith Ekakitie was picked up (also by Montreal oddly enough) shortly after we cut him loose. -

Correct - PR salaries come out of the cap just like active roster salaries. Given the info here (https://cfldb.ca/faq/compensation/), the average is $108,250 per player based on 56 players. -

Yep. Wasn't really talking about Lewis as much as Hervey though. Hervey not wanting to pay $300k for a receiver is fine but airing that out publicly only to see the receiver in question sign with another team for closer to $200k, he just looks clueless. Maybe if he had actually talked to Lewis, he would have realized $300k wasn't on the table and he could have kept Lewis at a reasonable price. Instead they'll role with one or two legit receivers, a couple retreads and hope they uncover a stud. -

I think we can officially say the circus is back in Edmonton - Sideshow Ed is such a clown. https://3downnation.com/2025/02/15/dont-try-to-degrade-me-redblacks-eugene-lewis-fires-back-at-elks-gm-ed-hervey-following-free-agent-departure/ -
It is no anomaly that the Riders suck - it's just a fact of life.
