And how is that substantially different from an import player who goes back to the US of A, flunks out and then tries to return to the CFL? You pays yer money and you takes yer chances. If the player has been treated well, he will probably but not certainly return to his former team. No guarantees in this business- even if you hold the rights to a given player who goes to the NFL, by the time he is done there, he could be too beat up or past his prime to be of any value here. This. It doesn't even matter if they go to the NFL or stay in the CFL. A guy like Picard is a perfect example... we drafted him, he played out his contract and then bolted as a free agent. No NFL involved but we still lost him. Complaining that a team doesn't retain the rights to a player (rookie or vet, Canadian or American, it doesn't matter) after they have played out their contract is ridiculous. It happens in all sports (although some leagues do it differently with RA/UFA status).

No, no you don't. The Bombers wouldn't have the rights to Mulumba or Bilukidi if that were the case.

Lawless is tweeting that Marve is hurt so the party won't be happening just yet.

Dawkins did name his dunks but that one came from Isaiah Rider.

Agreed, I'm stuck in Saskatoon this weekend so I thoroughly enjoyed the end result.

This is how I feel about their provincial party here too. With the disaster that is the Selinger government, the Mb Libs should have been able to gain some momentum but I haven't seen it. I'm sure Bokhari is a nice enough person but after 2 years, the only thing I can remember her saying is she wants to lower liquor prices... and I only remember that because it's recent.

The Argos think they have us right where they want us without Willy but they're going to come up a little bit short.

And because it never gets old...

Toronto is lucky Richards isn't playing otherwise he'd be laying the smack down.

If this is accurate, we might not see Mulumba for quite a while, if ever. http://gnb.247sports.com/Bolt/Five-knee-jerk-reactions-to-Day-9-of-Packers-training-camp-38663702

Bars, Night Clubs & Dives from Back in the Day
bigg jay replied to Booch's topic in General Discussion
Bar was Boogie Nights (formerly Stardust). The house band was the Boogie Knights Band. Right right right....I remember now. Man that place changed names a LOT....last I checked, it's still Cowboys...... Yeah thats the Canad Inns way. They just closed Area nightclub, presumably to open up as something else but the whole Pembina HWY bar scene died a slow death. I was 18 working at Grapes on Main, went to Pier 7 and Scandals at 19. U4IA at...21 I think. Stardust was still Stardust when I was there, then became Boogie Nights. Then I think it was the Coliseum which never worked (what kind of identify is that) and finally Cowboys which has worked out well as a hot country bar. Leanne Pearson plays (or played) there a lot and she's great. I dont go to bars much anymore but if I am asked, I'd go to Cowboys. The LID was awesome until it closed, though Im biased. ;-) Yep, they went with the Roman theme to go with the Egyptian one next door at Pharoah's. -
Bars, Night Clubs & Dives from Back in the Day

No love for Bullwinkles aka the oak? It was safari or rum jungle when I was young. Buffalo Bills was where it was at. Yep, the worst thing CanadInn's did with that place was change it from Bullwinkle's. That place was always packed on Friday's & Saturday's until they switched the format. The crowd shifted to Buffalo Bill's or the Spike & the Safari Club/Rum Jungle never got them back... even now they tried to recapture that era by changing the name to The Oak but it'll never happen... Transcona does not like change! -

Go a little deeper into T'cona to find the real gems. The Central, The Spike, still around too. It's like going into a time machine. You forgot the Pandora and the Royal George. -

[MERGED] Drew Willy Watch 3.0 Has Ended

Never thought MOS was the type to throw his players under a bus but if it's not the scheme then it must be... -
Yeah.... but Brohm got a bigger pair of b***ls to withstand the boos from the crowd. Give it time. If Marve plays as poorly as Brohm, the crowd will boo him too. I hope Dominique Davis is ready to be the most popular player in town.

Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice Official Trailer
bigg jay replied to Logan007's topic in General Discussion
It's a little more complicated with DC since they've been owned by Warner Brothers since the late 60's. WB put out the original Superman & Batman movies but the DC Entertainment company didn't get involved with comic book movies until Batman Begins. -

I was just about to post the same thing. Marvel didn't start making their own movies until 2008. -

The same concept should go for government unions that require workers to join unions as part of their job. People should have the freedom to "opt out" of their union and keep their union dues in their pockets. It shouldn't be mandatory membership. Of course, if this actually happened, most government unions would collapse almost over night. I'm not sure about that. Many people in unions are just as passionate for them as many people are against them. I've been forced to be in some unions in some places that I've worked, and there are many hardcore pro union people that work there. Also, if the government unions dissolved, the pay and benefits that many civil servants get would be reduced to be in-line with industry averages, so why would they get rid of their unions? Government is one work place that isn't there to turn a profit and can't close up shop if pay and benefits don't make fiscal sense. It is the perfect place for unions to thrive. I actually agree with this. If a workplace is unionized, then all employees should be in it. I was part of one where we had to opt in to being a member but if we didnt, we still paid dues and were still represented. We just werent official members. You have to protect people from themselves. If a workplace is negotiating collectively, you cant allow for X amount to sabotage it or be enticed by management to sabotage it. All or none. Im not fully anti-union. Just that some unions seem to think its still 1912. And it isnt. I sat in an informal "disciplinary" meeting once and the childish insults and smarmy remarks were almost unbearable. I was embarrassed. Collective negotiation is great. When it's done properly by intelligent adults. FYP I'm unionized in my current job, and have been for the majority of my previous jobs as well. Some unions are much better/worse than others, it all depends on the executive. I've been part of my current union twice now (different locals) and it's night and day. My previous stint sounds very similar to what you currently have... f*cking useless would the most polite way I could describe them, but I'm happy (comparatively speaking) with how my current local works.
