  1. Pretty sure that was the story right from get-go..... I know that was the rumor, just hadn't seen anyone actually confirm it until now.
  2. Lawless is tweeting that Cortez was not fired, he retired per Wally.
  3. Classic Cactus Jack promo! As much as he's known for his crazy bumps (and deservedly so), Foley had some fantastics promos.
  4. Contract is finished. Before grey cup, Lawless said it was a good bet that he was headed to Toronto.
  5. I watched the whole presentation, and was just behind a pile of Esks fans crowding the first few rows when a bunch of players brought the Cup over to the sidelines to give their fans a closer look. Thought it was very classy, and it was fun to see the Esks fans enjoying their win in a very respectful way. Yes, our futility is legendary and the 25 years since our last Cup is insane. (Technically Ottawa has the longest drought in seasons between all its franchises at 26: 20 with the Roughies, 4 with the Renegades, and now 2 with the Redblacks; Hamilton is also now at a not-wonderful 19 seasons.) But I still enjoyed seeing a team win their first Cup in a decade after having a fairly similar run of futility to us during that time (save for our 2007 season). Hopefully we can turn it around in a couple years and get our first legitimate chance at a Grey Cup victory since 2001 by, say, year 28 or 29? All that is to say that I tried to soak in as much of the Grey Cup as I could, and that included sticking around to see the winners celebrate their trophy. Same here. While It was mostly Edmonton fans left in the stadium, not everybody took off. I was happy for guys like Watson & Greaves, who were good players for us, and wanted to see them get their moment. It made getting out of the stadium much easier too!
  6. Yep, from where I was sitting it was at least 60/40 RB's, at least in the 1st half. There were a few "Hennnnnrrryyyy" chants that came out in my section as the game went a long and he started to disappear.
  7. It was an upset for sure but Wladimir is pushing 40 now, he looked every bit his age and had a horrible game plan. He isn't used to being the smaller guy and he had no answer to Fury's size... he still fought as though he was the bigger, taller fighter. It's been an impressive run (over 11 years since his last loss) & there's still lots of money out there for Wladimir since he's really the only heavyweight with any name recognition. The rematch will be the most watched heavyweight fight in years.
  8. Yep, the banned was lifted on the team but not the sawing. http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/cfl/ottawa-redblacks-denied-wood-cookie-td-celebration-as-logger-team-barred-from-performing-during-grey-cup
  9. Something must have changed again after that article was written because they were there. They were shown on the big screen & they were at field level behind the south endzone when Edmonton was killing the clock at the end of the 4th quarter.
  10. Only a couple in the NHL and one is debatable. vs Tom Sesito http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/120922 vs Brian Mcgrattan http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/121529 (not a great fight but Peluso does lose or maybe a draw at best).
  11. A Wyld Stallion like Bill S. Preston? Apparently MOS is a fan...
  12. Some events will be announced as sold out when they get down to single seats only but I went on ticketmaster when this announcement was made and the website said there was actually nothing left.
  13. The fight is up on hockeyfights.com if people want to see it.
  14. UMass Lowell Hockey ‏@RiverHawkHockey 3h3 hours ago Former #RiverHawk goalie Connor Hellebuyck to make his #NHL debut today for the @NHLJets at @mnwild at 4pm #UnitedInBlue #AlwaysARiverHawk
  15. Nice write up by Ed Tait http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/Two-of-Bombers-best-inducted-into-Canadian-Football-Hall-of-Fame-355939041.html
  16. Per Friesen's tweets, the CFL has addressed ALL the concerns about the previous drug testing policy but they are getting push back from the CFLPA.
  17. Didn't Orridge just say (yesterday or the day before) that a new drug policy had been created by the league, but it's in the hands of the CFLPA now? I don't think he mentioned when it was finished but any delays at this point aren't coming from his end.
  18. That's true. Russia has accused Turkey of being pro-terrorism for taking down the plane but Russia wasn't going after ISIS (who currently is not operating in that area). Instead, they targeted rebels who are against the Syrian regime which goes against Russian interests.
  19. I don't believe the Russians either. This incident was brewing for a while as the Russians have had numerous warnings/complaints over this type of thing in this exact area.
  20. I'd side with Russia before turkey.Russia should take over Turkey and rename it Chicken. Post of the year. Everything I've read says the Turkish Air Force shot that Russian plane down not any Rebel group. Turkey said that the Russian Jet was in their airspace & was warned up to 10 times before being brought down. Russia denies all of this. Unless I missed something, everyone here agrees that Turkey shot the plane down? Rebels then shot at the pilots who had ejected from the plane (as well as the chopper sent in to rescue them). Turkey has released audio of the the incident, showing that there were multiple warnings over a five minute period before the plane was brought down. Whether or not the audio is legit, depends on who you believe I guess. Something like that wouldn't be hard to make after the fact. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34929242
  21. The story on CJOB is a bit different. According to their story there was no contract, all the union had was an email saying they would get the job but nothing was ever signed. http://www.cjob.com/2015/11/25/cfl-bombers-sued-on-eve-of-grey-cup/
  22. Arent those rebels US backed? Too much idiotic politics in the region. Nothing is black and white, right or wrong. And the world will never agree. We need aliens to come down here and force us all to see the bigger picture. I have read some reports saying that but there's apparently around a dozen rebel groups operating in that area so who knows if that's true for some, any or all of those groups?
  23. I don't believe the Turkish armed forces shot at the pilot. From what I've read, they did bring the plane down but it was rebels on the Syrian side of the border that shot at the pilot & rescue chopper.
