Game day thread: Montreal here
I'm hoping we feed Harris as much as possible. Nichols is the same every week no matter who we face.... protects the ball and throws for 250-300 yards. We don't need a high-scoring game to win, just protect the ball and let Harris do the dirty work.

I'm expecting a win this week. Key matchup is BJ Cunningham and Ernest Jackson against our secondary. Win that battle and we win the game.

I don't think he's available.

What would it take to fire a coordinator?
Well haven't you heard? Every other coordinator calls the right play every time, and ours call the wrong play every time.

No change during the season please. If we did, it would likely be Costello taking over as OC and Glenn Young as DC. Pretty hard to get anyone talented to come in mid-season because they are already employed elsewhere.

Yeah he beat us by 3 points. And since you seem to be so fixated on how far into the Walters/Miller regime we are, Buono has had 15 years. And he can only beat us by 3 points! Pretty sad, really.

No. If Miller doesn't like Lapo's offence then he can tell Walters or O'Shea. And they can choose to listen or not. If they choose not to, and the team suffers for it, then Miller can make the decision to let them go. What Miller CAN'T do, is tell Lapo what plays to call or how to design plays. Then he is micromanaging. Then there is no point in even having an OC because he has no latitude to do what he thinks is correct. Similarly Miller can tell O'Shea "Hey, Carmichael isn't working out." And O'Shea can choose to listen, or not. And if it costs us games, that's on O'Shea and again, Miller can decide to let him go. But he can't tell O'Shea which players should be playing because again, that is micro-managing, that is not the role of the president, and it's effectively cutting off O'Shea's ability to coach. You're old-school. That's fine. But there's a reason old-school is old-school. Because it's deprecated. Extinct. Gone. The guy in your avatar was old school too. And where is he now?

No it's exactly what you're saying. You either trust your coaches or you don't. I'm sure Miller provides feedback. But if that feedback becomes "You MUST use this player, you MUST call this play", you no longer trust your coaches and you are interfering directly. You have no evidence that Miller does not provide feedback. We've fired an OC and a DC in Miller's time here.

So you'd prefer that the president of the organization has final say over who is in the lineup. Not a fan of that approach.

So why don't we just fire everyone every year they don't win the Grey Cup? Never mind that we actually finished ahead of Edmonton last year. But because at this present moment in time we are behind them in the standings, suddenly we aren't competitive with those teams and our management is terrible, coaches are mediocre, etc. More knee-jerk BS IMO.

Sorry it's not wrong, it's my opinion and what I would personally do.

Yeah. It was pretty clear that firing Berry after 3 straight years in the playoffs, including a GC appearance was a stupid move. It was also pretty clear that firing Lapo 8 games after making the GC was also a stupid move. But hey, it shows that mediocrity isn't good enough and that we're always looking to upgrade so I'm sure all the "I'VE BEEN A FAN FOR 60 YEARS AND DESERVE BETTER" fans were happy with those moves.

Looking Ahead: Winnipeg Vs BC
Vandervoort was the right play at first overall, IMO. We took Ekakatie with the expectation Thomas would be starting and we needed a capable backup. Now that didn't happen so the positional need was only imagined and the skill-level of the player is not equal to what a first overall should be. Basically we reached for a positional need that wasn't actually a need. Kinda the worst thing you can do. I still think Ekakatie has lots of potential, I'm just not sure he was the best use of that pick. All that being said, it looks like this was a pretty weak draft so I'm not sure it's worth crying over.

So then how would Doug Berry disagree with me? Your post made no sense, is all I'm saying. If O'Shea goes three straight years with playoff appearances and no wins, I'd agree that we should probably cut ties with him at that point. However that seems incredibly unlikely and I doubt we ever have to cross that bridge.

He fired himself? I think Doug would agree with me. Lyle Bauer might not, however.

At what point do we just stop with all the drama and say yes, football is dangerous. There's a good chance you will suffer brain injuries if you play for an extended period. If you drive a race car, you can get in a crash and die. If you go skydiving, the parachute might not open and you could die. If you are a fighter, any number of things can go wrong and you could die. If you're a football player, you're putting yourself at risk of brain damage. That's the risk. Play or don't play. No one is forcing anyone to do anything.

Now go back and watch what BC's defence was doing and maybe you'll start to understand.

As long as we are in the playoffs he keeps his job, IMO. No time limit.
