They've improved a bit recently. Kept both TO and OTT under 25 points and 400 yards offence. I mean they are not best in the league by a long shot but I do think they are coming together to some degree. And they'll be at home. Saskatchewan, I'm still not sold that they are "for real." The character of their team is just too questionable. But maybe tonight they stomp Hamilton and prove me wrong.

Polar Bears would have been a terrible name. I love Polar Bears but it's just not a name that rolls off the tongue. Winnipeg Polar Bears. It would be better to use the Inuit name - Nanook. The Winnipeg Nanooks. That's cool.

Even Vince taking the frog splash from KO seemed pretty extreme. But hey, can't hate on the guy for taking the hits himself. It would be different if he was asking someone else to do it.

At this point, IMO, it is a matter of "when" Trouba leaves, not "if". I don't believe the reasons given for his trade request... play time/playing on his off-side. I just don't think he wants to be here and at some point he will be gone. Unfortunately.

The problem is.... if Little leaves after this year, who is the second line center? It's nice to think maybe Roslovic can do it but we've barely seen him play in the NHL, let alone in a top-six role. Maybe Petan/Copp/Lowry? Any of those 3 would be a stretch. And its tough for any team to attract a top-six center in free agency, even moreso for Winnipeg. So what do you do?

Rather have Mason than Bishop to be honest. Bishop had 3 good seasons behind a very good Tampa Bay team but to me, he is nothing more than average.

He was averaging .5 points per game last season before getting injured. Fine numbers for a guy who isn't necessarily an "offensive" defenceman. He's got a cannon from the point and he plays an aggressive big-man style game. I expect his numbers will increase this year as well. There's nothing to be worried about. He will be an NHL defenceman. Probably not a top-pairing guy any time soon but he'll be a 3rd-pairing guy for the Jets within 2 years and top-4 within 5 years. Just has to keep working on his footwork. And that will come in time. Being 6'8" at 18 years old isn't easy. The usual criticism comes from non-athlete stats guys and older guys who had a taste of junior hockey who now think they're experts but I don't take that very seriously.
