  1. Lankford did just fine, though I would like to see what Thorpe is capable of in the role. On kickoffs Lankford had an average of 29.3 yards a return. That's damn good considering a good return on kicks is 20 yards. On punts his average wasn't great, only 5 per return (10 yards is considered a good return on punts), but the Riders also did a decent job on their punt covers. By comparison, before he got hurt Fogg only had an average of 7.2 yards a return, and we all know what he's capable of there.
  2. My thoughts exactly. That was ugly, ugly, ugly. If it wasn't for the Riders breakdowns in the secondary in the middle stages of the game and the turnovers, it wouldn't have been a pretty outcome tonight. Winning ugly is still a win of course but it's hard to feel positive with a showing like that against a joke of a team like the Riders. That said, on the plus side Sam Hurl really stood out with a nice game. He's been a whipping boy for some around here, undeservedly so.
  3. Not a Jennings fan by any means, but this is bound to happen when you have the lack of time he's being forced to work with right now.
  4. That's a pretty ridiculous standard. A joke.
  5. When he's hot, he's a gamer for sure, but when you rattle his cage it seems to affect him beyond the actual game and into future contests. Consistency can develop over time though.
  6. With our offensive line, Nichols will be able to have a picnic if they rush three all game.
  7. John White's price tag immediately caught my eye. Nevermind being more expensive than Harris or Messam, but significantly more expensive too!
  8. Pretty sparse looking crowd. They have their outdoor stadium, the schedule isn't crappy. When do the excuses stop for the CFL in Toronto?
  9. Non contact injury for JC Sherritt. Looks like an achillies for sure. It would obviously be a massive loss to an already thin defence.
  10. Bingo. Well said.
  11. Extremely bush league as has already been mentioned. It makes it hard to take the league seriously.
  12. I'm happy to stick with FanDuel. Way better than DraftKings. Can't have true fantasy football without a kicker.
  13. No kickers? Lame TSN. What fantasy football team doesn't have a kicker?
  14. If we didn't, it would be pretty shitty. I'll see myself out.
  15. He was flagged for hitting Franklin low, not because the actual hit was late. As horrendous as CFL officiating is, they are quite consistent on this point.
  16. It's baffling that people forget this every preseason. It's not a difficult concept.
  17. RIP The Don "If we play our best, and they play their best, well then I like out chances" My favourite quote of his that I recall hearing on a pregame on OB when facing the Bombers when we had some beauty tilts in 2001.
  18. Time for that annual reminder that defensive schemes in pre-season are always bare bones as teams don't want to show all of their defensive sets in pre season for obvious (or so I'd hope would be obvious) reasons.
  19. Hope his prescription includes some cowbell.
  20. Deyonce Whitaker....many people thought he was like a Charles Roberts clone but he couldn't hang onto the ball to save his life. I seem to recall Coach Ritchie calling him Beyonce, but I could be mistaken on that. I do recall he had a special teams touchdown for us in week one of whatever season it was, but wound up cut because of the fumbling and eventually wound up in Montreal for a cup of coffee. Great thread by the way.
  21. Ortega had no business playing professional football. Horrendous football player. I have no idea how he lasted as long as he did.
  22. I can't recall the exact year, I want to say around 2004-2006. We had this middle linebacker Tony Ortiz that everyone on the boards loved but he couldn't stay healthy. I want to say he even joined OB and would make a post every so often. Personally I never understood the hype, but regardless it's a name I remember given the circumstances. I also recall a receiver, Abe Morlu. Ran something like 4.25 in the 40 which had everyone in awe but what came apparent super quick was that he couldn't run a route to safe his life in training camp. 2009, a QB with a cannon arm Darrell Hackney had everyone's attention but never made it out of camp. Damn he could sling it.
  23. I'd be shocked if he hadn't heard from Jim Popp already.
