Then in the off-season the Bombers and Als make a deal that heavily favours the Als as compensation for the Sam they released.

Yeah, the way they go on you'd think their team as been a dynasty for the last decade. Reality is they have won 2 Grey Cups since the Bombers last won. While that's 2 more than the Bombers it is still less than the average. BC, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal have all won more Cups since 1990 than the Riders.
