Tom Higgins interested in Bombers GM job
17to85 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I dunno everything from Miller in that piece seems to indicate to me that Miller prefers some one other than Walters for the GM role. Lawless is just spinning his own opinions as facts here which is nothing new. -
"True Colours" article in the Sun

burke wants to sit players who don't put in the effort that's fine, but there's no need to drive the bus over them... but then again the only thing burke seems able to do as a coach is toss players under the bus. He has to go cause you can't have a coach that willing to absolutely bury players. -
yeah honestly Boltus getting the start might have been a good thing. Might have finally made them realize that he's not worth keeping around.
-
Yeah Durant is a talented qb, but man is he a princess when it comes to his coaches. Without his grandpa Miller around he just doesn't seem to give a **** what any coach wants him to do. Doug Berry offense he threw for like 5500 yards and ran for another 500 but still Berry had to be run out of town, makes no sense to me.

You fire the GM and things just head right into the tank...
-
well that's debatable, there were a few years there when I don't think he was too out of place as the teams #1.
-
Edwards is still that good veteran presence that everyone is all up in arms about the Bombers not having enough of. Maybe he's not the #1 receiver anymore but to me he's still got a role here.
-
This is exactly it, they've been spending a ton on the coaches and GMs lately, just that they've been paying multiple people while only one does the job. It doesn't save any money to cheap out on hirings. Hire the best people and pay them what it takes and you'll make more money in the long run.
-
you can have both no need to choose.
-
Exactly, yeah the offense improved lately with Bellefeuile, but so what? We have an opportunity here to clean house and get the absolute best people possible, don't squander that because well he's here already... And all I'm saying is not to automatically dismiss Bellefeuille just because he's here. He may be the best coach available in certain areas. Craig Dickenson may just be the best special teams coach in the CFL. By your logic we should get rid of him, just so we can ''clean house'. That's faulty logic in my opinion. yeah and Dickenson is the one guy I've said I want to keep, here's the difference, Dickenson is widely regarded as one of the best ST coaches in the league where as Bellefeuille has never been regarded as one of the best offensive coordinators, not even close. The worst thing that this team can do is stand pat cause there were some late season improvements. We did that last year and look how that worked.

of course you wouldn't, you'd support anything the Bombers did. MB is known around the CFL and I want to aim higher than a guy who peaked at mediocre.
-
the guy has had poor offenses in his past stops, just because there's been little improvements the last couple weeks does not mean he's an offensive genius, just that there was a real low bar to step over. Let's set our sights higher than this guy.

Arash Madani: Miller Trying to Force Rick Worman On Walters

regarding Madani: -
I had to go out last night so I didn't see the entire game but before I left Pierce looked like the same old Pierce he was in Winnipeg, musta pulled his head out of his ass after I left.

Arash Madani: Miller Trying to Force Rick Worman On Walters

I got no problems adding Worman to the staff. -
Coaches are so bad they can't even make their players aware of their responsibilities if they have to fill in in case of an injury... and we wonder why this team sucks? So your expectation of the coaching staff is to make sure that Brandon Stewart, who never practiced at the nickel knew every possible passing scenario the instant Dunn went down? The same Brandon Stewart who got two objectionable conduct penalties on one play? If it's something that the coaches KNEW was going to be used then yes, they should have made sure everyone knew the possibilities. If Stewart is the backup to that position he's gotta be aware of how to actually play the position.
-
yet every team has a guy who can carry the rock well enough to win... many teams have more than one. Finding the truly elite guys at any position is not easy, but finding guys who can play RB for ya effectively? Those are dime a dozen.
-
oh please if you need an american runningback you just go down to the pound and pick one out. Easiest position to find ever.

yeah cause they're sooooooooo many local players league wide right?
-
Bellefool looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooves Boltus and Timmy hates Goltz now.
-
The thing that bothers me the most is that Boltus is terrible and if Goltz is in the doghouse so much that the coaches refuse to use him at what he's good at (redzone, short yardage) and opt for a guy who can barely get any kind of forward progress in short yardage and is a worse qb then why the hell didn't they just release Goltz? Why keep the guy around if you have absolutely 0 faith in him? The way Burke buries people he doesn't like is absolutely disgusting. Cares more about holding grudges than putting the best people on the field.

Edmonton wasn't exactly a powerhouse in Rays last few years there. but they were 11-7 in his last year there and look how much of a disorganized mess that team looked without him. With a Ricky Ray it makes it so much easier to build a team because you know exactly what kind of offence to install because you know what Ray does well and it makes receivers look good cause he's putting balls right where they can be caught. He's pretty f'ing good and will make a team better, no doubt about that. Edmonton did put up some losing seasons with him though. Adding Ray to a hot mess of a team will only cool that mess, not fix it completely. Toronto has a pretty good team, and coaching staff, around Ray, which is helping him to do things like what happened last night. but it's worth remembering that the argos were only 9-9 last year, and this year they're in the absolute shits of a conference. I don't think the Argos are as good a team as the hype. They're really only first in the east because the Bombers are so inept this year and the Als are only slightly less inept. Hell the ticats look like a real team this year because of it too. You put a qb like Ray out there it make everything look better. Honestly the only thing that matters is that they got a decent looking coach in Milanovich and got Ray, but there are any number of GMs who can hire a good coach which is the biggest thing. Barker didn't look like he'd built much of a team when he had Cleo Lemon as his qb.
