that was my exact reaction, we signed a guy that Hamilton didn't want in their secondary to help ours? How far have we fallen?

Bob Irving: Max Hall To Start

That's the biggest thing. If Buck being the 9 year veteran that he is can't clearly play better than guys getting their first taste then he's not the starter on this team, run with the guys who still have some potential and aren't an injury waiting to happen. BC did that and never looked back, we need to make the same. -
I'll give Harris a shot to keep me alive.

completey disagree. He was #1 because it was given to him, the other two qbs have outperformed him this year and he has done absolutely nothing to earn it. -

yeah and I was more pissed off than anyone when they dumped Glenn because Glenn could still play, Pierce can't play. There is no comeback story there. Best case scenario he gets his level of play back up to not as shitty as guys making their first career starts, but then you still have to deal with him being a walking injury case. Pierce is ****** in the head right now, he makes slow decisions and he is rendered completely ineffective by a blitz because of that hesitation. At least Goltz will give himself a chance by being able to move more and Hall seems to get the ball out of his hands quicker. -

The thing that really pisses me off is that PIerces gets credit for that win in Montreal despite doing his absolute best to lose it. All those 2 and outs in the 4th quarter.... if not for the defense damn near crippling Calvillo it would have been yet another loss. None of the other qbs have had a chance to play with that kind of defensive performance. Closest they came was in BC but even then the Lions did get some drives established. -

Goltz lost to Calgary and in BC, games that you could quite likely expect to lose anyway. PIerce lost to Montreal and Hamilton, 2 teams that you should beat this year, Hall lost to Hamilton. So yeah, sticking with Pierce gets a LOT of blame for the season being done. He doesn't go into crap mode in Hamilton then the team still has a chance. He doesn't toss up that many ints in the opener against Montreal they might have started the season strong and not been as down as they are. Take your lips off PIerces ass and actually look at what's happened this season, and last as well, Pierce is not the player he used to be, not even close. -

well at least we can likely count on the riders putting him on the IR for a lengthy time again. There is just absolutely no reason to go back to Buck Pierce at this point. Biggest mistake of the offseason was sticking with him trying to tailor the offense to keeping him healthy and having that absolutely bomb because PIerce can't play that way and then scrambling to change it all around and then shuffling through all the qbs. Just move on from Pierce already, the team won't go anywhere until they do. -
The season is already lost! They're 1-6, Hamilton is basically uncatchable now after losing 2 games to them, they've fired the CEO, the GM, the OC, the HC is probably not far away from being fired as well... How is the season NOT over already? Oh sure technically they have a chance to put some wins together and get into a playoff position over Montreal, but come on, if they can't even get things going at home against Hamilton what makes you think they can do anything else? Years a write off already because of the decision to stick with Pierce.

If you'd listened to our new offensive coordinator you'd know that they already realize that the season is lost, in large part because they stuck with Pierce for as long as they did. Lots of talk about evaluation of players now which is coaches code for "well not much to play for now" -

thank god. -
correction, hired terrible coaches, cost him his job.

You guys (not just you) put way too much stock in what is said to the media. What do you expect Burke to say to the paper about one of his coaches? "Yeah, the guy's a little green, keeps coming up with 4th down plays no matter how many pamphlets we leave him..." Ditto Lapo speaking on Crowton's hiring. He was forced by Mack to take on an OC because our O was lousy. Everyone knew that. Of course he would publically endorse Crowton to the media as it was a way for him to save face and make the team look cohesive and on the same page. and some of you are so dead set on making things into a conspiracy that you ignore the obviousness of situations.
-
those ints stick out rather badly though
-
because no one has been able to make us forget about him. You release a qb you better have someone better to take his place, that was not the case here.

This post makes my head hurt on several different levels.
-
but PIerce isn't the answer either and there's another thread on this very site that quite nicely illustrates how PIerce is not better than the other options. Going back to Pierce is a step back just like it was when they made that decision in the offseason. Time to cut your attachment to an obviously finished player.
-
Burke raved about Crowton, he even said he thought he'd be a great HC in the CFL. Too many people trying to pin everything bad on Mack. Lapo hired Crowton not Mack that is well established. Burke kept him that's well established. The mental gymnastics that some people will go through to pin everything bad on Joe Mack is just absolutely astounding.
-
with Buck it's much less about missing games as taking all the reps in practise and then getting hurt in the game and we have to throw a backup in there without adequate preparation and don't you dare try and say that hasn't happened this season. Pierce hasn't been better than the backup qbs and when he's always getting hurt it is THE distraction so it's high time we just get rid of the guy and move on.
-
And Bellefeuille did also say there were some really good things in the offense too, but sounds like a lot of simplification and just letting athletes be athletes rather than having to think on the fly all the time. I'll say this too, it is a real sad day when Bellefeuille is seen as the saviour of the offense. yuck.

We can only hope... Any head coach that doesn't take responsibility for player moves especially at qb as well as one side of the football because he says he's not qualified shouldn't be in charge. I'm gonna give Burke some slack on this one. After all, he's had to deal with Mack and Crowton. Let's see how he does with Marcel. Burke can now help Casey with the D. To me, it's a win-win. Dear Wade: Thank you! oh please, what has burke done to earn that slack? He kept Crowton around as his OC. That's as big a red flag as there is. Burke seems to be one of those people who values coaches as much for their good guy factor as their actual abilities to coach.
-
Liked a lot of what he was saying, especially talking about how they need to find something that they do well and can rely on.
-
No it's because pederson is a ***** who throws a lot of **** against the wall hoping some of it sticks.
-
for **** sakes, even in those games where he turned the ball over, he was still able to put drives together and move the offense. That's something every other qb we've used in the last 4 years has flat out struggled at the best of times to do. Like I said, the guy had some problems that to me seem like they are easier to fix then trying to make guys who can't even move the ball into better players. Hell one of the reasons Burke was so pissed at Elliott was all thos eturnovers against Calgary, has flat out said kick field goals and they win that game, so in that situation why not try and coach those mistakes out and try and get the guy to improve his habits if that's the problem? There was more to work with there than with anyone else.
-
How about a coach that is willing to try and improve a guys habits?
