  1. if it were me I'd have built the media box facing the parking lot for all the good the local media does these days. If not for Bob Irving and Ed Tait those rare times he's on the football beat there ain't much for quality in that city.
  2. Etienne was a kicker until a year or so before his draft though right? You think a guy like Carter who has been playing receiver presumably his whole career wouldn't have as steep a learning curve right?
  3. If teams don't know how Jones likes to blitz by now they'll never get it. Not like he's a new DC or anything, he's been around a time or two.
  4. Look they wouldn't have just pulled numbers out of their asses for predicting transit ridership, there would have been studies done and those numbers would have come about based on gathering information and they would have been educated guesses. They got it wrong, it happens. There was no way this was going to go off without any hiccups no matter how much planning you put in.
  5. Pierce is done as an effective starting qb, that was painfully obvious last year and it was painfully obvious last night even facing a backup squad. He is too easy to rattle these days just because of the amount of injuries he's had. Maybe Crowton has some magic up his sleeve for the regular season and he'll rejuvenate Pierce, but I am not holding out hope. The Pierce we got for those first few games in 2010 is long gone and I don't think he's ever coming back. My biggest hope for the season is the Hall or Goltz can step up and take the job.
  6. That's really my only problem with Brown, he tries way too hard to use big words and gets overly wordy. Just spit it out simple and to the point.
  7. Well trying to predict what over thirty thousand people are going to do when you've never seen it done is a little bit like herding cats. Hell I can speak from experience here in calgary that one little disruption in the routine in traffic and everyone loses their minds and everything slows down to insane levels. No one has a clue exactly what's going on when they get into this situation and that's how poor decisions are made and traffic becomes frustrating almost entirely because people make bad decisions.
  8. And especially in preseason. Teams so rarely blitz in preseason because they want to actually see what their players can do in other situations. The only reason to constantly blitz in preseason is to mess up the other teams qb. It's just a total **** move and it's a big reason why defenses can look like complete crap in preseason but get better as soon as the regular season hits. and I should also point out that my frustration isn't even with the Argos, it's the fact that this is just the reality we all have to put up with as Bomber fans since they opted to hitch their wagon to PIerce again. It's frustrating because it's going to happen every week until they finally move on.
  9. Nothing teaches them how to make it flow smoother than doing that first event. I've been to events here in Calgary at some places that I thought would be an absolute nightmare to get out of but they've done stuff there enough that they have people directing traffic and it flows very well. People will learn what they can and can't do as individual drivers as well. It's just brand new for everyone involved and everyone will learn and it will all go towards helping.
  10. I'm not saying it's not effective, I'm just calling it like it is. Throw in the shenanigans with Jones going to Toronto in the first place and yeah I'm going to stand by calling him a piece of trash.
  11. You know what, good on winnipeggers for biking and using transit! Too often in this country every one just says "**** it I'll drive myself" They'll get a lot of these issues resolved in time I have no doubt about that.
  12. It's no secret that teams know that Pierce gets hurt a lot and if you knock him out you up your chances of winning. Yeah every qb is marked to an extent, but teams are willing to go farther with known injury cases. Especially teams with a DC like Jones.
  13. Jones has always been a ***** so it's not surprising they'd just try and hammer Pierce, if you take him out in the preseason there's one less team to worry about. Also why the bombers SHOULD have moved on from him in the offseason. Can't rely on a guy that is marked.
  14. yeah well no one over here is as insecure as they are over at that place so I can't see why anyone would care to do that to start with.
  15. yeah that's really all it is. Casual fans don't care enough to go midweek to see a bunch of future cuts play. Plus I think living two provinces away skews our perception of things too. getting to see the team for us is rare and every chance is deemed special.
  16. preseason against the argos... can't really expect big interest in a team that no one cares about. I think given how last season went as well it'll take some time to really build up the support for the bombers. No one knows who any of these qbs are except for bandaid boy buck. I just get a big sense of apathy in regards to the team right now.
  17. There was a link to the depth chart in another thread here somewhere too.... but I don't recall which one it was off the top of my head.
  18. agreed, need to wait until after the preseason games to really get a better feel for what other teams are going to look like. See if there's been any new faces unearthed at positions of need for a bunch of teams etc. Or you know, if for example Ricky Ray breaks his leg in a preseason game that changes the argos outlook just a tiny bit....
  19. This attitude right here... I hate that attitude. There's enough accidents out their caused by completely sober people and enough terrible drivers to start with that driving under the influence of anything is completely and utterly stupid. There's no degrees of stupidity here, it's just all flat out stupid.
  20. You know what, they might have something here if their uniforms have neither red or black in them. Then it'd be just about the most awesome name ever because people would always stop and ask WTF?
  21. it's all interconnected, it was an agreement with the statement while adding to the general conversational trend.
  22. pffft what better way to get people here?
  23. I know right? Maybe I'm crazy but I love listening to football on the radio (obviously them movin' pictures are better but still...)
  24. yeah those statements are no different than those people who insist that "I'm a better driver when i've had a couple of drinks because I pay more attention" The reason there's less laws regarding driving while high is like I said above, there's no good way of measuring the amount of stuff in your system roadside like there is with a breathalizer so anyone wanting to argue it in court will get it over turned because there won't be enough evidence to say whether they were impaired or not.
