  1. Let's see how good the west division is when they start playing each other before over reacting to one season why not?
  2. then why the **** are we so worked up about all the western teams having these great records? They've all done the majority of their winning against those bad teams too!
  3. Imagine if we had kept Milt, Bruce and Geroy together? Hindsight kills me sometimes. Considering the CFL was uncapped and Bauer forced Taman to a tight budget, I doubt that being possible considering the money that guys like Khari, Roberts, Sellers, Brown, and other elite players commanded at that time. I think people forget just how loaded that team was. Bobby Gordon might have been old, but he was a favourite target of Kharis in clutch time and you don't just cut that at the drop of a hat for a young guy with potential when you have another young guy loaded with potential in Arland Bruce already on the team. Plus you still had your super star SB in Stegall and a top RB in Roberts. There was still only one football around back then. I hate the comparison now because our defensive line right now isn't nearly as stacked as our receivers were back then.
  4. Bavarian purity laws? Which were nothing to do with actually making quality beer but a law about making sure wheat went into bread not beer? There's some damned fine wheat beers out there so to hell with Bavarian purity laws. Plus yeast is pretty useful in making beer as well.
  5. Sigh...Kelly has proven to be spectacular when used and invisible when not. The priority should not be in replacing him but in how to use him more frequently. Except that the book on Kelly is that he goes invisible for long stretches... Safe to say he doesn't get open all that often. Guy has good hands and a big frame but that's about all he has. Just doesn't look like the kind of player who can get himself open night in and night out.
  6. Who was it made the thread about the RTP calls apparently working to keep qbs healthy? Obviously they jinxed it.
  7. But what kind of beer? There's so many types with different flavours.
  8. Nah they just wanted the easier road for their babies to make the playoffs. Easier to make the playoffs in the 4 team division. Let's be perfectly honest here, the east is the weakest part of the league in terms of fan support, if you even risk having all those teams playing 2nd fiddle to the Bombers in the division it's not good. Playoff games in Ontario or Montreal are needed. **** the prairies, they support the team no matter what.
  9. He's either looking for the biggest payday he can get or he goes to the team he won a championship with and has that familiarity with the coaches and quarterbacks and etc etc etc. You either back a truck full of money up to the guy or he's going to Saskatchewan.
  10. and by hipster beer what you really mean is good beer right? Cause all the mass produced pilsners are fizzy yellow water. Can't blame people for demanding more from a beer. like raspberry flavouring? Something no one needs from a beer. The beers with fruit in them are for chicks. Which is why I don't get Raspberry Porter. "Chicks" don't typically drink Porter and guys don't drink Raspberry. Tree does this and it drives me nuts. I used to be able to get the Porter without the Raspberry and it was really good. Don't know WTF it is with the Raspberry. Cherry porters are a big thing too and I just don't get it.
  11. Doubt it costs them a penny as BC Place has expanses of empty seats every game. All it means is that every season ticket holder gets to bring a buddy with him to one of the four remaining home games and the walk-up crowd gets to fill an empty seat in another game. Increases local exposure to the product and generates more peripheral revenue so it's a win even when they lose. whether it costs them money or not they can chalk it up to marketing expenses. Paper the house a bit and maybe a few of those people keep coming back. It's a way to get asses in the seats and that's the important part for teams.

  13. I don't mind it actually. I think it's a good "FU" to the fans in the city they are playing, and if they don't like it, they can put down some dough and come to the game to boo the Riders. I'm just glad that it's the Riders doing this, and not the Bombers, as it's pretty arrogant. The only thing is that this billboard strategy would probably back-fire in Toronto as the people of Toronto would say "Green is the new Double Blue? The Blue Jays are playing the Oakland A's this week?" I just have a hard time seeing where the payoff is for them.. yeah it's marketing for the other team, but are the Riders really so loaded they're going to do the marketing for other teams now? The cheapskate in me doesn't see the profit in that expense
  14. Rids, how can you say a 3 year veteran is "projected"? The guy has done virtually nothing as a player to this point that he was released. scouting guys always focus on what a player could become, it's part and parcel with the job. That's what makes drafting a crap shoot. Sometimes guys just don't live up to the potential.
  15. I don't understand the thought process behind these billboards. Do they think the Rider fans living in those cities need a reminder that the team is coming to town? As a Bomber fan living in Calgary I can assure you the first thing I look at on the schedule is when the Bombers are in Alberta. Do they think they'll convert people? I doubt it. Seems like they're simply pissing away money in an attempt to what? pat themselves on the back? Antagonize another fanbase? How does this investment pay off for them?

  17. I told you all, Burris plays the great team mate when things are going good but as soon as there is adversity it's everyone elses fault, not his. Guy is a real piece of ****.
  18. but in 2008 with only 8 teams, the best 6 still made the playoffs. with 9 teams and the strongest teams all in the west there is that chance that the best 6 records don't make the playoffs (assuming Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatchewn, BC and Toronto have the best 6 records when it's all said and done).
  19. if by glorified you mean better than I agree. Matthews is better than Carr is better than Kelly. Dressler though is a guy who can be your #1 receiver and perform game in and game out. One guy is a nice addition to your receiving corps, the other guy you can build around.
  20. I think it got legs when people were trying to justify trading him last year. Now they've told themselves the lie so often they believe it. So per Jaquie he went offside 10 times in 12 games as a Bomber last season. You don't consider that a lot? No not really, he also picked up 15 sacks, the yardage is a net win for the Bombers in that scenario. That's in addition to the tackles for losses. And I am sure there's lots of plays where his pressure helped get a defensive stop. A few offside penalties don't bother me when the guy does so many other things well.
  21. I think Peach has been better than Vega so far this season. Better than a guy who's been either missing games to injury or playing hurt? Not much of a bar you're setting. Bottom line Hall would upgrade the DEs on this team
  22. Wait until it happens before we start freaking out about it. What happens if the west all collectively beats up on BC and they don't win more than 7 games? Is it THAT much of a stretch to think that 2nd in the east can't get to 7 wins or even 8? The most likely scenario as I see it is that the west is going to be very balanced with everyone winding up within a few games of .500 whereas the Argos should have a winning record against the East as well and get above .500 and probably get 2nd place in the east seperating themselves from the bottom 2 as well.
  23. It's absolutely ridiculous. Quite frankly as a CFL fan who knows enough about the entire league it's insulting to me that they feel the need to treat the viewers like drooling morons.
  24. The Riders are as much of a running team as there has been in the CFL in years. If they can't run I don't expect that they'll do a hell of a lot on offense. Now that being said they're pretty good at getting a running game going so it's easier said than done stopping it, but that's really all I'd worry about facing them.
