  1. They are not exceptions, I can remember lots of games where AC or Mcmanus looked like utter **** because they were getting knocked around all game long. Those guys just played a game that made it hard to pressure them, but some teams did find a way to do it, and Calvillo especially always had a good offensive line and good game plan suited to getting the ball out quickly. The Bombers haven't done a lot of things right on offense the last few seasons, it's not all on the qb, it's not all on the OL, it's not all on the receivers, it's not all on the offensive coordinator, but it does start there and works it's way down the line up. Figure out how to prevent teams from getting all kinds of pressure on the qb and the offense will be better. Doesn't matter how you do it, just do it, it's priority #1.
  2. That's football though. No quarterback does well when they are pressured a bunch. No one. That's why sacks are so important.
  3. I don't think people consider him elite, just a quality starter, which I believe he is. He makes good reads with the ball. Just like most qbs have issues when he's getting hit all the time, which let's be honest happens a lot here lately.
  4. That's all the Winnipeg media knows how to do is ask leading questions.
  5. Orrrrrrrrrrrr he's trying to show how the number of sacks isn't always an OL problem. If the RB misses a block that's not a problem with the offensive line, if the quarterback runs into a guy all on his own that's not the OLs fault, if the OL gives time but the qb hangs onto the ball that's not their fault. The question was stupid because it shows a fundamental lack of understanding about the game and tries to distil it down into a simple talking point. You guys gave up 59 sacks, you suck. When the reality is that the reporters have no clue how many sacks the OL actually gave up vs. other areas being responsible for it. Spreading the blame around? How about he's actually addressing what the real problems are rather than having his offensive line take all the heat for it?
  6. And that's why you say silly things
  7. And of course the ******* on commentary rather than talking about how terrifically Randle played that called it a dropped pass and acted like the receiver actually got open.
  8. The **** were you watching? Randle played real well.
  9. It's the CFL, the first two regular season games are always glorified preseason.
  10. The amount of things people read into preseason games, oh my goodness.
  11. yeah no kidding, they tried to run early, just getting beat. I said it before I'll say it again, the depth won again but the starters were lacking. It's not just Willy, it's that once the #1s for Ottawa came off the D things improved. Now I will also ask whether we are seeing some better adjustments at halftime than we saw in the past, but I suspect it's mostly just the difference in players.
  12. Honestly I would say that the recruiting has improved this season, the 3rd and 4th stringers have "won" both 2nd halves of games this preseason, it was the #1s that got beaten. So that could still point to the fact that we are lacking at the top end a bit.
  13. Well it's like they always say, offensive line's getting raped again Willy
  14. well just adding dressler should open up a lot more for the receivers because the guy is a vet and knows how to get open so I'm really not worried about the receivers. Lots of bodies in there who will be gone in the next little while as well. The OL thought... if they insist on using Neufeld I don't forsee a lot of good things coming but if they get over themselves and actually commit to 3 americans then it could be alright. Was such a Lapo offense though. Boring, predictable and "safe" which of course led to a lot of 2 and outs.
  15. part of the problem because a bunch of forwards can't get the defense in shape and they can't get contributions from the bottom 6? Hell lots of nights if Hall wasn't going offensively no one on that team was. I don't see how people like to blame the guys like Hall and Eberle and RNH when the guys around them have been for the most part useless. McTavish was an idiot but he was right about one thing, he called a lot of guys on the team out for being at best non factors in a game.
  16. probably got a job the same way everyone ultimately gets new jobs, lots and lots of ass kissing and networking.
  17. The real concern was the OL, I know some people are trying to place the blame on Willy but give your heads a shake, they couldn't open up any room to run and got stuffed on 3rd and short twice cause they got absolutely 0 push. The OL got physically man handled last night plain and simple.
  18. Same coach, lots of different players. I mean didn't we replace 3 of the 4 guys on the DL and only Westerman is the same? And dude, if you want to read into coverage in preseason you go right ahead, there is a lot of vanilla from everything in the preseason and the Bombers just sat in soft zones all night long so naturally Glenn got some completions, that's his thing.
  19. Is this the "Oh they're all one dimensional players!!11!!" argument again? Hall and Eberle have looked great at the world championships with a team around them that can move the puck properly. The Oilers problem is that their defense is brutal breaking the puck out of the defensive zone and maintaining possession in the offensive zone. It supresses everyones numbers offensively and leads to more opportunities for the opposing team to press the attack. Hall, RNH, Eberle, Draisaitl, these guys aren't defensemen and expecting Sekera to be your best defenseman is asking for losses. What more can the forwards do when the D looks like it does?
  20. Do you have anything to base those defensive claims on other than expecting Jones to have a good defense? Because quite frankly your defense is nothing to write home about at this point and the Bombers have at least attempted to address the major problem they had on defense last season which was the defensive line.
  21. Patently false. Yakupov has been an underperformer but that's really about it. RNH is fine, he's been thrown to the wolves and kept his head above water, just because he had a poor year with injuries this past season doesn't mean he's not a good player. Eberle has been exactly what he's supposed to be, Klefbom looks to have developed great except for getting a freak infection that kept him out all of the last part of the season, Draisaitl looked great last year, Nurse will be perfectly fine. It's not their picks that have been the problem, it's been failing to surround those picks with anything that has tripped them up.
  22. The Oilers suck therefore every player on the team sucks, except McDavid, the stink isn't on him yet because he's only been there for a few games.
  23. But you gotta give it to him for the response to "if you could do it all over again?" "I'd live by myself and jerk off"
  24. Chasing Amy isn't all that great anyway, Clerks is rough because it was done on a shoe string budget but it's a pretty good film regardless and clerks 2 is a favourite as well. Jay and Silent Bob strike back never fails to make me laugh, same with Zack and Miri, Dogma also. It's not deep stuff and the writing is done in a certain way to facilitate back and forth dialogue but that's his thing and if you don't like it that's fine but it doesn't make it bad writing.
