  1. Honestly the simplest explanation to me is that the team wasn't nearly as high on Thorpe as posters around here were. Will it work out? I dunno but the guy wasn't on the game day roster much so in theory it's a position that they should be able to replace. Granted they haven't shown a lot of ability to bring in rookie receivers thus far, but hey, sooner or later they will right?
  2. Calvillo was more of a juggernaut later to be honest. from 02 onward Ricky Ray was tough competition and 03 I think Dickenson was back from the NFL, but 01 it was really Kharis time to shine.
  3. well yes but I'm not talking about the power rankings, I'm talking about the guy making playoff scenarios up and calling them very likely.
  4. It's just far to early to even start pencilling in the Bombers as a top 2 team in the west and therefore the league. So much season left and yeah some teams are streaking the wrong way now, but if they stop that streak and start a winning streak all of a sudden things look entirely different. Too close right now.
  5. Very likely? We're assuming that neither Edmonton nor BC pulls out of their skid here, and let's be honest, the Riders looked awfully ordinary in the Banjo Bowl, just because they bounced back and beat Masoli and the ti-cats doesn't suddenly make them a great team. Lots to be decided still.
  6. Yeah BC is the other one cause Jennings has been hurt too, but BC has had a terrible offensive line all year and we all knew it was only a matter of time that their qbs got hurt playing behind those scrubs.
  7. Looking good against the ticats d doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot
  8. you know what woulda knocked the wind out of their sails more? Having had the ball pounded down your throats without being able to do a damned thing to stop it. Getting straight up beaten physically does a lot more to demoralize an opponent than trying something cute.
  9. At least with Vegas around the Jets aren't the only franchise that has never won a playoff game
  10. if it really is about player safety then you absolutely have to pull a guy if you believe he's taken the head shot regardless of a penalty or not.
  11. Masterful at having a good cap situation and not making playoffs anyway.....
  12. I'm not, I am arguing with Mikes position that because the players say they like it there's no way it can be a negative move. Again, reading more in than was ever there.
  13. Of course what I said is correct. I never said anything about laziness, that's something you are reading into it when it was never there. All I said was players don't want to hit/get hit in practise, which can be for a variety of reasons including laziness or self preservation or what ever else. All I said was the players being in favour of the move doesn't mean anything about how it will impact performance, we simply don't know that from their statement, all we can tell from that is that they don't want contact, which has been a player position for ever basically.
  14. I mean he had to change for the banjo bowl because he got his lunch money stolen and stuffed in a locker on labour day with the game plan he came up with.
  15. I'm sorry but the players liking it doesn't hold as much weight as that. Guys don't want to get hit in practise? no ****. Doesn't say anything about how good or bad this is from a performance standpoint, it only says that players don't want to have to hit or be hit in practise.
  16. Ian Wild also.
  17. Laugh tracks aren't the problem, over use in unfunny shows are the problem.
  18. or is he just trying to sing a song?
  19. Or, Steve Jobs was just a better snake oil salesman than what they have now cause I don't see any differences in the what Apple is selling now, just that they can't polish up those turds as well as they used to.
  20. Nah you could see that Montreal was going to become insane. They never had a plan in place for when Calvillo retired and it was always going to burst apart at the seems once than happened. Throw in the fact that they got so accustomed to running away with the crappy east you knew they'd start making bad choices the first hint of a losing season.
  21. I think it is entirely possible that old man Wetenhall is senile and doesn't know what he's doing half the time these days.
  22. Lapo is not going to leave here for a dumpster fire in Montreal. Guy is going to pick his spot when he tries for HC again and people know that head coach in Montreal right now is not going to be a good spot for anyone.
  23. Nenshi hates sports and won't play ball, with the economy in the shitter compared to what it was when the Oilers got their new arena and Liberals in power federally there is no political will at all to build an arena in Alberta anymore and the Flames will have to try all the tricks they can. I expect to hear about the Flames top brass visiting Seattle sometime to try and put pressure on Calgary. The Flames won't go anywhere though, the NHL isn't going to let that happen and neither is the saddledome so bad they can't make a go of it just yet. They got time before things get to that point.
