  1. HC - Not directed at you but I find it funny how much the Bombers have been criticized for hiring HCs who have no previous HC experience (Berry, Kelly, Lapo, Burke) but then when asked to name possible replacements they name a bunch of guys who don't have any HC experience like Jones and Dickenson. As for Chris Jones, I can't see him leaving Toronto unless he's offered a HC job and managerial role (GM or Assistant GM) as well. He's said in the past that management is his goal and he is Assistant GM in Toronto now. OC - Not sure why you're criticizing Barresi since it was Lapo's offence and Barresi seemed to be OC in name only. AC is pretty entrenched in Montreal. Doubt he would leave but then I don't want a first year coach as OC either. QB Coach - It had nothing to do with cheapness. Burke wanted a RB coach. If he had wanted a QB coach instead he would have hired one but he was satisfied with having Crowton as QB coach as well as OC. As for Buck, thinking he can still play doesn't mean he would be a good coach. O-line Coach - Don't know if it's official but I saw a reference to Bob Wylie being a speaker at some type of conference and he was listed as the retired o-line coach for Oakland. I know the Riders tried to hire him again after he left the Raiders but he turned them down.
  2. I can remember seeing a number of posts at various forums criticizing Crowton for being in the press box and now that he's on the sidelines he's being criticized for it.
  3. Have you seen this at eBay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-CFL-Starter-Winnipeg-Blue-Bombers-Adult-Large-Jersey-/261257077660?pt=US_Football_Fan_Shop&hash=item3cd422a39c
  4. As I'm posting this it's still commercials before the start of the game... I'm taking Chad Simpson.
  5. From what's been said out of Montreal, it wasn't Popp's decision to fire Hawkins and take over as HC, it was the owner's. I doubt Popp really wanted to do it since it means he has to stay in Montreal during the season instead of living year round in NC like he has been.
  6. They also have an Assistant General Manager, Football Operations so basically Murphy is a player personnel guy.
  7. Many people realize the second reason is BS since he didn't say anything to Lapo about not wanting to play centre. As well, Penton asked Labatte if the Bombers had said he would play guard would he have re-signed and he basically said it wouldn't have made a difference. The Bombers were trying to re-sign him for a year and a half which means before they tried him to centre the first time.
  8. I thought it was because he wasn't a good ST coordinator. Maybe both?
  9. From watching it again I wouldn't call that a fumble because there was a throwing motion. I'm assuming it wasn't intentional grounding because there would have been an eligible receiver nearby.
  10. The way they do it in the NFL isn't allowed because that would be intentional grounding here iirc. I think what Reilly did was throw it so it may have hit at or just over the LOS and been ruled an incomplete pass.
  11. Mack wasn't out of football for 10 years when he was hired.
  12. Thanks for giving us such a great forum to discuss the Bombers.
  13. I dunno... It's like Greg Marshall in Saskatchewan. New HC replacing a well liked and respected HC with new HC not having much say in who his assistants are being fired because the players don't like him.
  14. That was what the local print media was claiming, not what the Bombers were saying. And the print media only said that about Forde.
  15. No, that was the local print media going on about Duane Forde. Everyone else knows the HC is the face of the team, not the AGM or Assistant GM.

  17. Pedersen said the same thing last year around this time as well. Penton said in yesterday's Sun that Lyle Bauer is wanting to get back to working in the CFL with his preferred destination being Winnipeg. Doing what I have no idea but no thanks.
  18. Geez, a lot of brave people here. I don't know if I have the guts to take 2 players for the 4 games. I'm trying to not be eliminated before Labour Day.
  19. Given how candid Burke is why would he lie and say the doctors said Buck was still injured.
  20. Ain't that the truth. This season the Als have given up 18 sacks already and if they continue at that pace they'll give up 65 compared to just 30 last season. AC has been taking a beating out there.
  21. I don't think so. I thought it was said he got a larger base salary when he re-signed. Why would Joe Mack be the one to talk to Buck about this? That's the HC's job. You mean other than Goltz?
  22. Except Pierce was NOT healthy. The doctors said he wasn't able to go. What Pierce said was irrelevant because he could be on the turf looking like the Black Knight from Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail and still say he was healthy enough to play.
