So true. He became the starter in late 2010 and since then has only actually started 10 games (including playoffs) out of about 30 played.

One thing that was different in Calgary when my family was there was winter services. When it snowed the philosophy for plowing residential streets was "wait for a chinook". They would only do residential streets if the road was impassable. Don't know if that's changed.

I guess you haven't seen the reports that Crowton allegedly went to Mack about starting Goltz and that Mack then forced Burke to make the change. If that's true, do you think Buck will be gone?

Maybe wait to see if the treatment he has works or whether he will have to have surgery and miss the rest of the season.

BC didn't have a QB coach until this season. Chapdelaine was OC and QB coach in previous years.

They probably do have their suspicions but what type of investigation can be done other than interviewing Board members and hoping for a confession? On a side note, why do people keep saying Buchko was fired? He resigned. Whether he initiated it himself or was ask... who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if he made the decision. If I were him I don't think I would want to stay when I knew someone was trying to undermine me and couldn't be trusted.

Have you ever been to a BoD meeting (corporation, private company, non-profit, etc)? Have you ever seen what type of documents are included in the package that goes out to BoD members before a meeting? Do you know what the legal requirements are regarding Board meetings?

The NIMBYs didn't want it there and the Feds wouldn't give funding for it there.

That isn't the way things are done. Even if you could just say that, the documentation that must be sent to Board members well before the meeting would spell out exactly what the meeting would be about. There are procedures that have to be followed.

You can't just say "hey let's have a board meeting tonight. Be there or be square." It takes time to set one up and Board members will be told the reason for the meeting when it's being set up.

The BoD did bring in a headhunter to do pre-interviews and make recommendations on who was qualified to get an interview with the search committee. Don't tar and feather all BoD members based on the actions of one. Most are professional, hard working people. I have met at least 2 BoD members myself and I can't conceive of either going to the media like that. Izzy Asper was the reason for CanWest's downfall. He tried to expand too much to quickly. As for Sheegl and Barletta, the City and Province have spots on the BoD because of the bail-out agreement and stadium agreement. The City and Province decide who will represent them, not the Bombers. For Buchko to request a special meeting of the BoD would require him to give a reason why he wants it called. It's part of the process. Exactly. Most of the CEOs/Presidents in the CFL have no football background. IIRC half were executives for media companies (ie Sun Media, Quebecor, CanWest).

I saw confirmation that what Kevin McDonald meant was that Ottawa can start signing free agents at that time. Free agency starts February 15, 2014. Once again HfxTC got it wrong.

They haven't announced anything officially about a roster freeze date as far as I know. I can't remember where I read it but I did see something about rosters possibly having to be set about a week before the expansion draft and there can't be any trades from then until after the draft. Does anyone hear listen to Hustler & Lawless? Good ol' HfxTC at the CFL does (of course) and he's claiming that Kevin McDonald (CFL's head of football operations) said on the show that free agency was going to start on December 1 this year because of the draft. Anyone know if McDonald actually said that or if there has been any confirmation about it.

If Burke did let Crowton go mid-season does he know anyone he could bring in to replace Crowton or are all his contacts on the defensive side of things?

Sometimes even Wally can't stop it from happening. Wally has been quoted as saying he wanted to keep both Cauchy and Yurichuk and that he offered them very good contracts to stay but he lost them both for nothing to free agency. And how much did he get for Ricky Foley when Foley ignored his verbal agreement and signed with Toronto.

How many NI players the calibre of Labatte who actually made it to FA and didn't end up signing with their "home town" team can you name?

He's the offensive quality control coach for the Als. Mike Miller was their QB coach in addition to being OC and assistant HC. Their website hasn't been changed to show the changes they've made other than removing Hawkins and adding HC to Popp. Just as some of us find it funny when people assume he won't make a great coach because he isn't a great QB.
