Bridge sure has a heck of an arm though. He threw those wideside outs on a rope. I'm with USA, though. Playing a rotten TiCat team is one thing. Going up against the Stamps is another. I'm expecting Claybrooks will take his lunch money next week.

Some kinda bad moon over the Hamilton receivers. Banks looks like he's been replaced by Willy Hinchcliffe. Tasker's dropping catches he makes in his sleep. Mike Jones coughs up the ball on the 5. Masoli was pretty bad but his receivers were even worse.

Odds and Sods - Banjo Bowl - Saskatchewan Fakes vs Blue Bombers

Great video. Moe's a baller! Loved listening to them scheme the Randall pick before the play. And damn, the camera following Carter walking towards the sidelines while that play was still alive. $10M talent, 10¢ attitude. -

Nailed it and I'm never right about anything so I'm gonna pump my own tires here a bit. Other two teams? Saskatchewan and Toronto, I'd bet. Both teams have QBs who are expired or nearly expired. Jones loves his bad boys and the Argos would do anything for a headline in Toronto. -

Wireless charging is pretty magical but I have to laugh at a 455 dpi display. The difference between a 455 dpi and 250 dpi on a 5.5" screen is laughable. It's like having headphones with frequency response beyond 20kHz .. that ain't gonna matter to anyone who isn't a dog, and this 455dpi display won't really matter to anyone who isn't a raptor ... or a guy who gets wood for big numbers. Since this is also a referendum on Apple thread, my vote is: not an apple customer any more; used to love their laptops but they've become steadily more overpriced and under capable as time goes by. Probably get a Dell XPS13 if I had to buy one today. On the flipside, my mom has an iPad and loves it and can do all kinds of things on it without my coaching. As tech support guy #1 I'm extremely glad to not be supporting Windows over the phone anymore.

My money is on Montreal being the other team interested in Johnny Football. The Als love those questionable big-splash moves and appear to have no plan at QB. (Here, I'll save someone the trouble of making a FTFY post: "The Als love those questionable big-splash moves and appear to have no plan at QB.") -
Thorpe has been beefing with the Alouettes ownership / management for a least a couple years. He tried to resign and take a position in Edmonton and the Als refused to accept his resignation. http://montrealgazette.com/sports/football/cfl/montreal-alouettes/noel-thorpe-leaving-montreal-alouettes-possibly-headed-to-edmonton-eskimos http://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/noel-thorpe-alouettes-popp-1.3375729 Can't imagine MOS gassing a coordinator halfway through a season, but he did so almost exactly two years ago when he fired Pat Tracey midseason. Mind you I think the Bomber special teams that year were far worse than the Bombers D is this year.

Yup, brain cramp.

All of these games are dangerous. We needed last-minute heroics + a kick return braincramp + OT to beat Ottawa. The Edmonton team we beat was depleted, tired, and crisco-handed. We let Hamilton hang around for three quarters before burying them in the 4th. A couple bounces go differently and all these games come out different. Maybe not the Hamilton one, but the other two, definitely. (in case it sounds like I'm not giving the Bombers credit for their wins, I do -- but for all but one quarter, these were three competitive games)

Once, back in the day, Ricardo Montalban was on a late night show with some cowboy singer. The cowboy singer made a crack about his accent. (which is a dumb thing to do: Ricardo sounds great in any language) "When you hear someone speak with with an accent, it means they speak more than one language," said Montalban. "How many languages do you speak?" I can speak about 1.2 languages, so I don't make cracks about accents anymore. -
Edmonton is the most penalized team in the league, right? And Edwards had that throat-slash that kept that final Stamp drive alive...

Bomber Bye Week: The Kavis Reed Short Rope Edition
johnzo replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
speaking of Reed, anyone know why he gave up on Adams Jr. so quickly? Als' QB situation looks terrible ... Durant is slipping, Willy is broken, their third stringer is a complete CFL rookie. -
Oh man, what a great picture. There's these two viking-looking dudes who are dressed up in Road Warrior shoulder pads and face paint every game, the TSN cameras love them and show a reaction shot from them every game. Where do those guys sit?

Don't have any numbers to back it up, but my impression is that Proulx doesn't flag holding as often as the other refs. -
OP was asking about regular season records, tho. Lucky the 2011 team had enough points in the bank to coast to 1st in the East and then beat Kevin Glenn in a cold weather game to get to the cup.
-
I was talking about promising bomber teams -- like the 2011 team (7-1 before LDC) and the 2014 team (6-3). Those teams came unglued after the LDC.
-
10-8. A big loss on Labor Day by a promising Bomber team is usually followed by a decline in the second half of the season.

I've been sending secret messages through Walters' Alpha-bits for years. SIGN HAJRULLAHU is the one I'm proudest of. Not a lot of J's in your standard bowl of Alpha-bits. I really wish that Walters was an Alphaghetti man, this would be easier.

Labour Day Classic: Winnipeg @ Saskatchewan

Yeah. How many officials would be willing to flag an injury when there's a chance they could be wrong? -

Good on Chris Jones for finding a way to counter Lapo's tempo within the rules, but boo on Chris Jones for making the game uglier, slower, stupider, and more phony. The integrity and quality of the game is more important to me than a single rivalry game loss -- I hated PI replay challenge even when the Bombers benefited from it, and this is the same kind of thing. -
serious scrap heaping going on in the Hammer
johnzo replied to Booch's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I doubt Austin is gonna swap away a battleship for a rowboat like Neufeld unless there's something else serious at play ... contract status, locker room attitude, etc. Simoni Lawrence for Neufeld would be a total Madden trade. And people have been talking that Bond is indeed gonna try his NFL luck next year. -

Love me some Luke Tasker but oh man I do not want to trade away any Canuck OL. We're finally building national depth on the OL and if we can start three Canucks there next year then we can start three imports at LB. The upgrade from Thorpe or Denmark to Tasker isn't big enough to warrant trading away depth. Though when I think about getting Lawrence ... upgrading on Knox might be enough to get me wanting to eat the seed corn... -

Okay, so the way I understand it, we run a tempo offence to prevent the D from substituting -- like say we convert a 2nd-and-short against a D that's got extra beef up front, then we go tempo so that we can call a pass against that heavy lineup. But if tempo happens when the D will naturally want to substitute, there's always going to be a defensive player on the field who's going to be coming off anyway, and that player can alertly take a knee to allow a substitution. The only cost is losing that player for three snaps, which ain't nothing, but it ain't a huge thing. Seems like the injury rules make the tempo offence pretty useless. Be interesting to see if more coaches counter tempo this way.
