  1. I doubt that the people who crossed at Emerson were vetted by anyone. http://www.latimes.com/projects/la-fg-immigration-trek-america-tijuana/
  2. Let's hope he's telling the truth. I would assume there would be more vetting than just accepting someone's story.
  3. I think the NHL fedexed the Calder to Matthews' house after the first game when he scored 4 goals.
  4. there's another rookie in the NHL other than Auston Matthews this year? What???
  5. I hope that these people are properly vetted, though that could be pretty much impossible. I would hate to see some criminals and bad hombres getting in to Canada just because they crossed the border in extremely cold weather.
  6. Thanks Johnzo. Hope you get some time off soon too. Still a long way to football season! Good points about Russia too. Might as well find out what was going on. Way back in 1980 the Reagan campaign did a deal with the Iranians to release the US hostages on the day of Reagan's inauguration in January 1981. I never thought that was very kosher either.
  7. I think this theory has merit. I don't think the Dems are going to take over anything in two years. They are a complete trainwreck right now.
  8. I guess this is where the conspiracy theories lose me. What is this quid pro quo? As far as I can see the only person to really blame for the DNC losing the election is John Podesta, and/or Hillary Clinton. They lost the election. With a terrible campaign. I don't think the Russians really had anything to do with it, and the people I talk to down here just roll their eyes when I say they must have been influenced by Russia in the election. It actually is pretty insulting.
  9. nope. The Latino comedian said that he was a legal immigrant to the US and he was happy that Trump was going to make sure that others like him came in legally. Big cheer. No derision. I honestly don't think people in Canada understand how mad people are in the US about illegal immigration. We are isolated from it because we don't have millions of people coming over our border from the North. And we have the US as a big buffer zone between us and Mexico.
  10. Was in Vegas, now renting a house in Palm Springs. So awesome, they have Direct TV so just sitting back here with a brew in hand watching the Jets-Stars game on the big screen.
  11. Been in the US for almost a week now. The only time I've heard Trump mentioned was in a discussion with a waiter, once at a comedy show where mention of Trump's name and discussion of his policies (the comedian was Latino btw) elicited a big cheer from the crowd and then another time at dinner where I heard a man and his wife bashing Trump like crazy. I thought "finally, I'm hearing all of this American anger towards Trump I hear so much about in Canada", only to find out that the couple were actually from Toronto. I don't think American democracy is failing. For all of the world anger and celebrity pouting, all I am hearing here in the actual US is people expressing their thankfulness that the guy they elected is doing what he said he was going to do.
  12. They just showed the replay on the second TB goal and you can see Perrault deliberately get out of the shooting lane to avoid being hit by the puck, which allowed the puck to get through and a goal to go in. MP should be cut on site/put on waivers - if you aren't willing to sacrifice yourself to block a shot then you should be playing senior hockey in Winkler, not in the NHL.

  14. I've got a lot of relatives living in the US. They're pretty smart too.
  15. The Bernie Sanders drinking game - every time he promises another government freebie, drink someone else's beer.
  16. Not sure anyone said it was an epidemic.
  17. Did he molest six girls at a swimming pool, in one day?
  18. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3673302/Leaked-German-sex-crime-report-confirms-surge-child-rapes-migrants.html#ixzz4YEu0nGdS Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook
  19. So is this story notorious because of the fact that the person is Syrian, or because he molested six girls in one single afternoon? Have there been other cases in Canada (in it's entire history) of one person molesting six girls in one afternoon at a public swimming pool? Or any other public places? Isn't the number (six) in one go a bit disturbing in and of itself? Wouldn't this story have been widely reported on that fact alone, no matter what the ethnicity of the person doing it?
  20. uh, I apologized. I'm not perfect. I couldn't find the story. And why is reporting on a molestation "promoting hate and intolerance"? I'm just curious. Are you saying that this shouldn't have been reported at all in the name of promoting love and tolerance?
  21. if you look at what the Liberals are doing now in terms of bringing in legislation to fight "Islamaphobia", this kind of suppression will be common-place. Real Orwellian stuff.
  22. all right I stand corrected! Your googling skills are better than mine as I couldn't find this story. Thank you.
  23. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/iraqi-refugee-raped-10-year-old-boy-swimming-pool-vienna-austria-sentence-conviction-overturned-a7377491.html http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/asylum-seekers-sexual-assault-germany-girls-swimming-pool-arrested-isis-rapist-syria-fighter-nusra-a7569811.html http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/704315/teenagers-sexually-assaulted-Iraqi-migrant-arrested-Stuttgart-swimming-pool-attack http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35326090 Just yesterday: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4202942/Two-migrants-charged-molesting-girls-swimming-pool.html Part of the issue is that the media doesn't seem to want to cover these attacks. Or the only sites that cover it are ones deemed to be "fake news" by certain elements and so therefore potentially they are just made up. So it's a self-fulfilling prophecy - the media that is "trusted" won't report it, so therefore there is doubt as to whether it exists. Case in point - it doesn't appear that the Edmonton molestation story has been reported by the CBC. Is this because they deem it not newsworthy? Or are there other reasons? Is this willful blindness to cover these stories (if this indeed is happening) beneficial to society and the greater good? I am just asking the question.
  24. Ok, have I explained my point now?
  25. Nope. I guess I just wanted to post this as it doesn't seem to be getting much attention, and I am curious as to why. When you look at what's going on in Europe right now, with all of the sexual attacks at swimming pools, perhaps people in Canada need to be aware about them, or perhaps not, I don't know. It's been interesting to see the reaction though to this story on various forums I follow. A lot of visceral reactions and anger that this is even being reported on by anyone, with the excuse that other sex crimes aren't reported on so why is this one making head-lines (though I think six girls being molested by one guy in one day is pretty news-worthy). Is that right, to just cover these stories up completely and not talk about them at all? I don't know the answer to that one, so that's why we discuss these things.
